Vampire's Slice Of Life Chapter 3 New Life (2)

Previously on Vampire's Slice Of Life...
Lith continues to adapt to his new life, growing more accustomed to the language spoken by his mother, Lilith, and sister, Lucy. As he reaches milestones like crawling and walking, he struggles with the typical frustrations of infancy while being showered with love and protection from both women. Curious about the world beyond his immediate surroundings, Lith expresses a desire to learn to read, leading Lilith to contemplate how best to nurture his uncharacteristically advanced curiosity for his age. Their bond deepens as Lith seeks independence and understanding in this unfamiliar life.

Lith had achieved a high level of reading proficiency after three months had passed. Although he lacked the necessary muscle control to write, his reading comprehension was excellent. Once he mastered the basics of literacy, he enlisted his mother's assistance to reach the bookshelf once more, selecting volumes focused on general knowledge.

It became clear to Lith that he had been reborn into a world governed by magic. This was the exact type of fantasy realm he had encountered in novels, watched in anime, and dreamed of visiting. He was now living his fantasy. He didn't waste any mental energy on the mechanics of how he arrived or the reasons behind his reincarnation; such thoughts were pointless. He had accepted the reality of his previous death and subsequent rebirth. While he felt a pang of sadness knowing his former family would be grieving, he knew there was no way back. Consequently, he embraced his new existence. He accepted his new, affectionate family, which currently consisted of his mother and sister. He didn't bother wondering about his father's identity or absence, as those details were irrelevant for now. His mind was occupied by a single, driving ambition: he had to learn magic! It was a necessity. Having read countless stories about the miserable fate of the weak, his primary objective was to master magic and grow powerful as quickly as possible to ensure the protection of his mother and sister, whom he truly cherished.

The scale of this new world could be summarized in a single word.

MASSIVE!

The world was incredibly vast, truly gargantuan. It was comprised of nine continents, each ten times larger than Earth. A multitude of races inhabited these lands, with the dominant powers being the Demons, Angels, Humans, Vampires, Werewolves, Elves, Dragons, and Witches.

Typically, each race claimed a continent as its own, while other species settled in environments that suited them. For instance, the Demon continent was shared by Demons with skeletons, ghouls, specters, and fallen angels. Meanwhile, the Elven continent served as a home for Elves alongside druids, trolls, goblins, and orcs.

The most startling revelation about this world was the existence of resurrection! Yes, REVIVAL! Dying was not necessarily the end, a concept that felt absolutely insane to Lith or anyone coming from a world where death was permanent.

The Demons managed a nine-floor hell and a 666-floor abyss on their continent, while the Angels possessed a heaven on theirs. These realms served as the residences for the overlords of those races. Beyond that, they held little extra significance, serving primarily as the locations where these overlords and their high-ranking subordinates would resurrect after falling in battle. This made them virtually immortal. Every race possessed similar mechanisms. Even those without natural realms could craft their own resurrection phylacteries by gathering specific ingredients and hidden them in secure locations. The materials required for these items were not overly expensive, though they certainly weren't cheap.

The economic system was quite straightforward.

The currency was categorized into bronze, silver, gold, and amethyst coins. One amethyst coin was worth one hundred gold coins. A single gold coin was valued at one hundred silver coins, and one silver coin was equal to one hundred bronze coins. It was very easy to understand.

However, the most shocking discovery was the level of technological advancement. A fantasy world that was also technologically sophisticated? It was completely unexpected! His mother hadn't shown him even a single piece of technology yet. He realized he had been so preoccupied with her affection that she likely forgot to introduce him to such things. It made sense. Regardless, this world was highly developed despite its massive size and magical nature.

When he thought of technology, he meant things like mobile devices for communication and an internet-like network that connected the entire world. There were novels, movies, and even TV shows! Social networking was a standard part of life here, which contradicted everything he had read in fantasy novels before. He had assumed magical societies wouldn't care for such things since magic could solve most problems. These mobile devices functioned differently than those on Earth, of course, as they were embedded with magic. Setting those technicalities aside, the technology mirrored Earth's, just with a magical foundation. Finally, he realized he could be a lazy shut-in, watching anime on the couch like a true man of culture—cough—he meant, he could grow stronger to protect his family. He had to stop those intrusive thoughts.

He reminded himself that all this information came from books; he hadn't actually seen these devices in person yet. He surely would in time.

He remained ignorant of the specific cultivation realms since they weren't listed, and he didn't even know his own race yet—he would have to ask his mother. He also noted that while there were nine continents, only eight were occupied by the primary races. The final continent sat at the very center of the world and was known as the neutral continent. Jointly governed by the eight main races, it served as a safe zone for education, trade, recreation, and commerce. While total war was absent there, skirmishes were frequent and discrimination was a reality. The law of the jungle—where the strongest fist rules—was the standard everywhere. To avoid being stepped on, he absolutely had to become powerful.

Closing the book, he looked up to find his mother watching him with intense focus. He had no idea how long he had been reading or how long she had been standing there. However, the warmth in her eyes suggested she found joy in watching him study.

“Done reading baby?” she inquired. He nodded in response, prompting her to smile and pull him into a hug.

Lith didn't speak; he simply returned the embrace and snuggled against her large breasts. She didn't mind, hugging him back before carrying him to the bed. She laid him down and settled in beside him. “All that studying must have made you hungry, right?” she whispered with a loving smile. He simply pulled one of her breasts out and began to nurse, fondling the other until a bit of milk sprayed onto his face.

“Aren't we in a hurry? Don't worry, mama isn't going anywhere,” she teased, using a cloth to wipe his face clean.

After a while, he released her and gave the other nipple a small pinch to signal he wanted to switch sides. Understanding the gesture, she picked him up and rolled over. As he continued to nurse, he looked up at her. She met his gaze with that same devoted, motherly expression. For a moment, Lith was captivated by her beauty, but he quickly gathered his thoughts to speak.

“Mama. Go out for walk?” he asked, gesturing toward the exit.

“Hmm? You want to go outside, dear?” she asked, looking puzzled. He nodded firmly.

“Do you not like staying inside with mother?” she asked, her confusion deepening when he shook his head. Lith sighed internally; his mother clearly didn't realize that time felt much slower for a baby than an adult. To her, it was just a moment, but he felt like he had been stuck inside forever. He tried his best to explain using simple terms.

“Walk, mama, Lith and fun,” he said. He intentionally used broken "baby talk" to avoid suspicious fluency that might freak her out. Fortunately, she understood perfectly. Her face lit up as she exclaimed, “Oh my baby, you want to go for a walk outside and have fun with mama?” He nodded. She seemed even more excited than him, scooping him up and dashing outside so quickly she didn't even bother closing her robes. However, her speed was the least of his concerns once he saw what was outside.

Before he knew it, his mother was holding him and her robes were somehow closed again. But the scenery was what truly shocked him. Outside, it was dark—extremely dark. A silver moon hung in the sky, cast in a distinct crimson glow.

The plants were all dark-colored, having clearly adapted to a life without much light. Lith was stunned, unsure of how to react. What race could he possibly be? Humans certainly didn't live in a place like this. He turned to his mother and asked, “Mama, me race what?” She smiled at him and replied, “What else, dear? You are my cute little Vampire.” She then leaned down and kissed his forehead.

Vampire!

He was a vampire now!
