Vampire's Slice Of Life Chapter 1196: Find the Descendant
Previously on Vampire's Slice Of Life...
A profound hush fell over the chamber as the harsh reality weighed down on everyone present.
The Crown Prince simply couldn't picture his own offspring mating with his mother. It felt utterly excessive, even given the clan's long tradition of incestuous bonds.
"...Mother... there's one thing I want to know." The Princess shattered the quiet and faced the Queen.
"What is it?"
"What precisely is our clan’s objective? Why do we even exist? What's our true purpose? The Upper Realm surely didn't dispatch the founding father just to sire children and perpetuate the Asura bloodline, correct?" The Princess inquired.
The Queen gave a nod. "Each generation's successor learns the authentic mission passed down by the founding father. His Majesty is aware of it in our lineage. Yet, before he could impart it to your brother, he departed and has yet to return."
The Princess pressed her hand to her forehead as the Crown Prince massaged his temples.
After some time, the Princess spoke up. "Mother, something just occurred to me. It could seem bold and even sacrilegious, but would you like to hear it?"
"Yes?"
The Princess drew in a deep breath before proceeding. "The founding father came from the main clan in the Upper Realm. They probably have objectives for us to fulfill. Though we remain ignorant of them, they can't possibly be limited to breeding and preserving the bloodline, can they?"
"I don’t know." The Queen shook her head.
"We may not know for certain, but we can reasonably presume that's true, right? Who sane would demand blood ties across every generation? What benefit does it offer beyond maintaining blood purity? Such practices don't strengthen the bloodline; they merely transmit it intact without dilution from outsiders. Consider it, Mother, Brother—both of you, please reflect deeply."
Silence once more blanketed the room.
The Princess had a valid point, yet embracing her view would defy the core principles laid by their founder and the three ancestors.
The Asura Queen pondered the matter.
"His Majesty decides the gravest matters. In his absence, that falls to me. Chaos has engulfed everything, yet His Majesty stays absent." The Queen spoke gravely, her frustration subtly coloring her tone for her children to sense.
"Perhaps we must shift our worldview. We need to transcend our ancestors' actions and, as you suggested, grasp the greater scheme. Obsessed with bloodline preservation and battling the Evure God Clan, we've overlooked true priorities."
The Crown Prince nodded, sharing the sentiment.
"Uncle Kalyndor may be a betrayer, but viewing through a wider perspective, his union with an outsider likely wouldn't have mattered if the primary aim was met. The key to lifting our bloodline's limits could lie with his lineage. I'm uncertain and lack assurance. Given his descendant's actions, deep grudges probably linger. Still..."
That hesitation prompted the Crown Prince and Princess to shut their eyes.
Asuras embodied unyielding pride.
Currently, their pride suffered blows that kept intensifying.
"...Uncle Kalyndor's descendant could be our final hope."
There it hung—the phrase both the Princess and Crown Prince had anticipated. The ultimate strike to their pride wounded their very spirits, yet what recourse remained?
The Asura Queen pressed on. "Imagine we breed, spawn countless generations ahead—then what? Our power won't surpass the current peak, with only scant royals per era. Resources fall short to elevate all to Legendary Rank, and family strife would abound. Without breaking the ancestral constraints, our clan is doomed. Henceforth, we alter our path starting now."
"Is this a command?" The Crown Prince queried.
The Asura Queen nodded. "This stands as my final decree as Asura Queen, Celestine. Locate Uncle Kalyndor's descendant and request aid. That heir exists either in this world or Octavia—I'm convinced. Lysander, scour our realm; Melina, return to the battlefield. Avoid death and harm to the descendant."
The pair rose, bowed deeply, and exited the chamber.
Alone now, the Asura Queen's lips twisted downward. She gazed intently in one specific direction.
"Will you rue your choice, Your Majesty? I held you back that day from chasing Uncle, but you stained your hands regardless. Now, we require Uncle once more. Should our clan crumble, harbor no grudge against me. This was my utmost effort..."
…
Octavia.
Vampires from the Evure God Clan persisted in seizing the gates.
Headquarters informed them that the Asuras' primary world had inexplicably crumbled. Their sole task now: forge a route there.
This demanded control of all eight gates.
Lith had returned to Octavia to claim these gates—not aiding the Evure God Clan, but serving his own ends.
With the Evure God Clan's focus shifted to the Asuras' homeworld, striking them would prove far simpler.
Their chief foe eliminated, they'd be fools not to seize every treasure.
Lith aimed to accelerate this, boosting his odds of toppling them.
Flanking him sat Fei and Sylvia; others reinforced the front lines.
Lith gathered at a round table with Fei and Sylvia, a projection revealing various battlefield vistas.
The Asura Princess retreated upon the core world's fall. Her return seemed unlikely soon, but certainty eluded—who knew? Her weapon's might was overwhelming; a desperate strike remained possible.
Lith lacked counters for her, so he monitored and targeted her absent zones.
Her arrival spelled disaster for the moment.
Time elapsed.
Half a day onward.
Evure God Clan vampires secured two more gates, leaving just three.
Seizure proved straightforward without Asura interference.
Yet Lith's dreaded outcome unfolded.
The Asura Princess had arrived!
Wielding the identical blade and aura, she positioned herself ahead of the vampires, obstructing their advance.
Lith tsked irritably.
"She’s back." Fei noted.
Sylvia tensed fully.
A minute ticked by.
The Asura Princess showed no motion, rooted in place.
Further minutes dragged without action from her.
But as vampires prepared to charge, the Asura Princess gestured with her hands, likely invoking spells.
The atmosphere before her shifted; rocks lifted from earth, forming legible script.
In massive lettering for all eyes, the Asura Princess inscribed:
"The one who removed the mind control, I know you are here."
Lith jolted at the message, poised to flee, but the subsequent line halted him.
"I will give you my blade in exchange for a meeting. I will also seal my cultivation and come alone."
"Huh?" Lith blinked in shock. Such a gambit from Asuras was unforeseen.
"Master, this might be a trap." Fei cautioned.
Sylvia leaned in to scrutinize the Asura Princess's face. "I suspect as much, but if she seals her cultivation and arrives solo at our chosen spot, no issues arise."
"Well, she offers her blade. Let's verify that first." Lith refused risks, knowing a bladeless Princess posed minimal threat.
"Sylvia, equip Roy with an escape talisman and dispatch him as our envoy. Also, open a gate before the Princess on my signal."
Sylvia assented, linking Roy to Lith, then directing him toward the Asura Princess.
Roy deemed the task suicidal, gripping the talisman tightly for instant activation.
He soared skyward, positioning before the Asura Princess.
"What an honor to meet the Princess of the Asuras."
