Vampire's Slice Of Life Chapter 1189: Zhao Shi is the Queen!

The gears in Lith's mind rotated at maximum capacity as he observed the chessboard and the unfolding conflict before him.
It suddenly dawned on him that he also possessed a remarkably potent ability, similar to the ones held by Sylvia and Fei.
He was referring to Destiny Seer, one of his four innate powers that had yet to be utilized.
While the demands of previous situations had favored the use of Psych Puppetry and Paradigm Perception, the current circumstances signaled that it was finally time to activate this third skill.
There was no requirement to trigger his fourth ability, Return. Since he faced no immediate peril, he had no desire to head home. Furthermore, that power served as his ultimate safety net. He remained protected by multiple defensive layers, including the three Supreme Ancestors of the Qing Mei Sect, who acted as a contingency force prepared to extract him at a moment's notice.
With a mere thought, Lith began to drain his spiritual power, causing ancient sigils to manifest in a spiraling pattern within his pupils.
His amethyst eyes shifted to a deep crimson as the black sigils continued their rhythmic rotation.
The resulting aura prompted Sylvia and Fei to glance at him with expressions of wonder. They could sense a power that felt far more primordial than their own.
In Lith's enhanced vision, the battlefield became crisscrossed with various colored threads.
These strands spanned the entire area, with the most frequent ones connecting the soldiers. Gray threads represented allies, while those belonging to the enemy appeared blood-red.
He noticed red threads winding around his allies, while numerous gray strands coiled around the opposition, some even forming intricate knots.
Lith speculated that coiling indicated a single target being fixated upon by multiple foes, whereas a knot might signify a sealed fate or impending death. He had yet to confirm the exact meaning.
Beyond these, pitch-black strands emerged from a corner of the field, slithering toward both friend and foe like venomous serpents.
One such black strand suddenly lunged out from the battlefield projection, creeping toward Lith himself.
Guided by his nearly flawless instincts, Lith remained calm and sensed no danger, choosing instead to observe the behavior of these strands.
To his surprise, purple threads erupted from his own form and enveloped the black ones in a protective embrace.
These purple strands then surged into the battlefield, vanishing after reaching a specific point.
Despite this, Lith was able to discern a faint connection.
"Sylvia, is my disciple in the vicinity?" Lith inquired in a neutral tone.
Sylvia gave a slight nod. "He is currently approaching the primary battlefield alongside Lucas."
Lith’s intuition was validated. These particular strands belonged to his disciple, Zhao Shi. The pitch-black color symbolized disaster and curses. While they seemed unable to affect Lith for reasons unknown, they were clearly capable of devastating the soldiers on the field.
However, Shi’s curse lacked the ability to distinguish between friend and enemy. It offered him no personal protection either; Shi could easily be consumed by the very calamities he triggered and suffer immensely.
The arrival of Zhao Shi promised to be a significant turning point. The consequences remained to be seen.
As Lith shifted his focus across the battle, he spotted golden threads surrounding Roy. These were wrapped around the Sixth Pillar, though some extended toward Lith as well.
The strand reaching toward Lith, however, was tainted with black streaks, appearing as though the bond had been corrupted.
'Hm? Is the destiny between Roy and me reaching its conclusion? Does this signal his death, or perhaps a future rebellion and departure?' Lith pondered.
Since these threads were manifestations of Destiny, corruption typically pointed toward betrayal or demise. That was Lith's current theory.
Rhythmically tapping his finger against the table, Lith began to calculate how he should manage Roy's path forward.
Several minutes passed before a sharp headache struck him. It was a piercing pain, as if a needle were being driven into his brain from the inside.
He deactivated the ability immediately and inspected his spiritual power, discovering it was nearly exhausted.
With a sigh, he shook his head. Attempting to observe the Destiny of so many individuals simultaneously was an immense burden. He had not yet reached the level of a demigod or a god to perform such a feat easily. Having seen this much was already a success. He would revisit this when his mental fortitude and spiritual power were replenished.
"Oh, a movement has occurred!" Fei suddenly shouted, drawing Lith's attention back to the chessboard.
On the white side, the queen piece had moved, eliminating two pawns. However, this maneuver resulted in the loss of one of white's own pawns in exchange.
Lith's eyes narrowed as he looked back at the actual battlefield.
A youth had arrived on the field, accompanied by a burly, black-haired man.
This was Zhao Shi, the disciple Lith considered a Jinx.
Zhao Shi surveyed the crimson sky and the chaotic fighting occurring both on the ground and in the air. The relentless clashing of steel had left his ears feeling numb.
Frowning, he asked, "Lucas, what are the odds that everyone decides to attack us?"
"Stop using my name so casually. I serve your master, not you," Lucas replied with a click of his tongue. "To answer your question, it is highly probable unless we strike first."
Zhao Shi let out a sigh. "I figured as much. Let's get to it, then."
While Zhao Shi lacked direct combat prowess or specialized movement techniques, it didn't truly matter.
His master was incredibly wealthy!
Absurdly, limitlessly rich!
Zhao Shi produced several talismans and tore them open. The activation propelled him into the sky while launching several orbs of flame toward the battlefield below.
His objective was to sow discord, and heavy artillery was the perfect tool for the job.
Thanks to his master, his supply of talismans was vast! The ones he just used were worth mere pocket change to him.
The fireballs were launched haphazardly, obliterating two major AGC legions and one EGC legion.
By combining wind and fire talismans, Zhao Shi inadvertently triggered an explosion right next to himself, causing him to plummet back toward the earth.
He crashed down just as quickly as he had ascended.
Watching this display of incompetence, a vein throbbed on Lith's forehead.
His disciple was becoming increasingly arrogant and shameless!
And of all the pieces on the board, why did that brat have to be the queen!?
