Vampire's Slice Of Life Chapter 1186  Hollow Glacier — Captured

The confrontation escalated when Lith unleashed his ancient tattoo's power, ensnaring the cloaked figure in heavy chains. This surprise attack revealed the entity as a diminished Lich, now engulfed in flames and desperate for answers. Asura minions watched in terror, realizing their supposed guardian was overwhelmed. Lith pressed the Lich for information about its origins in the upper realm, learning that the Asuras seek to maintain control over lower realms indirectly. The Lich's arrogance only fueled Lith's determination to extract more secrets, setting the stage for a battle of wits and strength.

It had been quite some time since that ordinary afternoon in Nightingale. After a grueling training session, Lith was resting on the bleachers and hydrating. Beside him sat Lilith, an otherworldly beauty with hair like spun silver, who tenderly wiped the perspiration from his neck. Pausing his drink, Lith shifted his gaze toward his mother. "There is something I don't quite grasp, Mom. You possess a vast array of powers and claim I will inherit them eventually. But aren't the four I currently command already overpowered?"

With a soft laugh, Lilith reached out to pat his head. "What leads you to believe that is sufficient?"

"I have the literal ability to read emotions and discern any lie. I can perceive the very threads of destiny. I can dominate a person's mind to sift through their memories, and finally, my last ability allows me to return home from any location I desire. What else could I possibly require?" Lith inquired, his expression clouded with confusion. Lilith nodded slowly before responding, "They seem adequate because of the immense effort and thought I invested in them. Perhaps in the future, you truly won't need more. Regardless, depending on unique abilities is always secondary; your innate strength must come first. You will find these powers useless against enemies with a willpower stronger than your own, which typically scales with their cultivation ranks."

They had delved deep into that discussion, marking it as one of those pivotal days where Lith shared a profound conversation with his mother. Returning to the present, Lith stared at the Lich before him, deep in thought. 'If his willpower surpasses mine, there is a significant risk that my own consciousness could be wiped out if I attempt to use Psych Puppetry on him. Is the gamble worth it?'

Though the danger was real, he reminded himself that this was merely a remnant will—and a severely weakened one at that. It shouldn't be capable of inflicting too much harm, right?

"Fei, Sylvia, I need your assistance..."

Choosing to avoid unnecessary peril, Lith instructed his companions to first break the creature's mental defenses.

The two women moved forward, subjecting the Lich to a barrage that left it in absolute agony. As it teetered on the brink of unconsciousness, Lith seized the opportunity to thrust his consciousness into the foe's mind. He triggered Psych Puppetry, stripping the will down to a hollow shell. A torrent of data immediately flooded Lith's mind, but the connection was abruptly severed by a piercing headache. The spectral flames died out, and the Lich was truly gone. Lith scowled; the link had been forcibly terminated from the outside! Could it have been the original body of the will? Had it realized the remnant was being manipulated and killed it to prevent the leakage of secrets? It was a terrifying thought. Yet, Lith knew he could call upon Neo, his sword of destruction, across any distance or dimension because their bond was rooted in his Mind Sea. Pushing the distraction aside, Lith closed his eyes to analyze the fragments of information he had managed to salvage.

The memories spoke of the Upper Realm. Unlike the lower realm, which was a collection of various universes and worlds, the Upper Realm existed as a singular, massive plane. At its heart lay the Land of Abundance, encircled by various elemental energy domains governed by powerful experts. He also learned that formidable forces guarded the Land of Abundance and confirmed that this will had indeed belonged to an Elder of the Asura God Clan.

This remnant's purpose was to monitor the Asura God Clan of Shen Ze, ensuring their dominance remained unchallenged. It generally avoided daily politics, hiding away in this sanctuary to act as a final deterrent against any looming catastrophe. Even in its current state, it possessed the power to decimate a large portion of the Evure God Clan’s military, but it had the misfortune of encountering Lith and his party. Lith suspected that if Roy had been the one to face it, that man could have obliterated the will single-handedly. The remnant had been ignorant of the true power levels of this world, underestimating everyone. Such was the fate of those who remained shut away, convinced of their own invincibility. Despite the limited intel, Lith realized he needed to ascend to the Upper Realm soon. His women were likely there, and he was uneasy about their current circumstances. He could only pray for their safety. The Asuras were arrogant beings, and those from the Upper Realm often viewed the lower realms as weak, forgetting that these worlds operated under their own laws and that power was capped at the Legendary Rank.

No one was truly invincible; even a god could fall to other Legendary Ranks.

Because the useful data was sparse, the urgency to reach the Upper Realm grew. The thought of his ladies brought a wave of melancholy over him. To vent his frustrations, he slaughtered the remaining Evure vanguard and Asura warriors. Once the area was cleared, he demolished the throne where the cloaked figure had sat, revealing a gray portal beneath it. This was the gateway to the primary world of the Asuras and their Royal Court. It remained dormant, awaiting the capture of the other gates. Only when all eight portals were secured and the necessary spells cast would they activate in unison.

Looking at the portal and the corpses of the Evure vanguard, Lith realized he had been too thorough. He should have spared a few to carry word to the others. Now, he would have to deal with the tedious task of contacting Roy himself to report that the Hollow Glacier gate was under control. Sighing at the extra work he had created for himself, Lith departed the area with his companions. The earlier memory made him pine for his mother and sister. He wondered about their whereabouts. He had no way to reach Lucy and couldn't sense her, leading him to believe she was trapped in a hidden dimension or already in the Upper Realm. However, he could still feel the blood bond connecting him to his mother. He could technically track her down, but he hesitated. She was incredibly attached to him; if she had been gone this long without contact, there had to be a valid reason. The bond served as a silent reassurance that she was safe and could feel him too. She was within reach if he truly needed her, but she was likely occupied with vital business, and he didn't want to disturb her needlessly. Shaking off the gloom, Lith turned his focus toward the next gate. He was becoming weary of this conflict and wanted to bring it to a swift conclusion.
