Vampire's Slice Of Life Chapter 1184 Cloaked Figure
A sharp chill permeated the hall as everyone arrived within Octavia's Hollow Glacier, causing the temperature to plummet. The seated, cloaked figure shifted his weight, resting his face against a hand and exposing a glimpse of his skeletal, bony fingers. "How many years has it been?" an ancient, deep voice echoed through the chamber. Sensing a potential trap, the Evure vanguard tightened their formation, standing back-to-back to eliminate any blind spots. Hidden behind a massive pillar, Lith and his companions remained out of sight. While the cloaked entity might have sensed their presence, the Evures were oblivious. "Sir, you have stood watch over this place since the very foundation of the clan," one of the newly arrived Asuras remarked. The sound of marching feet ceased as the Asuras took their positions beside the cloaked figure, bowing deeply before turning their attention toward the Evures. Reaching this destination had been an arduous journey; the Evure vanguard consisted of only two Legendary Rank experts, while the rest remained in the Supreme Rank realm. Despite their lack of numbers, Lith observed the unfolding scene and realized that numerical advantage was the least of their worries. Leaning to the opposite side, the cloaked figure projected an aura of profound boredom. "Those who intrude shall perish. Depart now, and I shall act as if I never saw you."
The Asuras were visibly stunned by the figure's declaration. This was, after all, their guardian deity—the protector of one of Octavia's eight pillars. The Evures were equally taken aback, marveling at how someone could be simultaneously so arrogant and composed. However, the Evure vanguard did not retreat. Instead, they pulled several pills from their pockets and swallowed them, causing their veins to throb with power and their muscles to swell. "Very well," the figure replied.
Having received his answer, the cloaked figure gestured for the Asuras to strike. Various weapons manifested in their hands as they charged the Evure vanguard. The Evures met the Asuras in brutal, bare-handed combat. An axe swung down upon a man's forearm, yet it failed to leave even a minor scratch. In a swift counter-attack, the vampire soldier delivered a palm strike to the Asura's neck, causing him to collapse instantly. Such was the massive disparity created by even a minor realm's difference in Cultivation.
The hall's atmosphere soon grew heated as an Asura's blade became wreathed in roaring flames. As the Asura slashed at an Evure soldier, the sword moved with such speed it left behind photographic, frame-by-frame afterimages.
Even though the soldier used his forearms as a defensive shield, the blade sliced through his skin, drawing blood.
The man retaliated with a kick that sent the Asura stumbling back several paces. Seizing the opening, he drove his knee into the Asura's face. Once his opponent hit the floor, he began rain down heavy punches, shattering every tooth in the Asura's mouth. Watching this display, the cloaked figure let out a sneer. "To think the Asuras here have fallen to such a state." Standing up, the figure took a single step forward. The Evures braced themselves, but despite their speed, the cloaked figure was far superior. Black phantoms flickered beside the Evures, and with a single, fluid motion, their bodies were halved. Another swift movement reduced them to even smaller fragments. It happened so fast that no one had time to scream or even process their deaths. The Asuras let out sighs of relief. While they possessed strength comparable to the Evure vanguard, they lacked the unique abilities of their foes and were susceptible to death. Information on their enemies' abilities was useless without the raw strength to counter them. On the floor, the neatly severed pieces of the Evure vanguard's bodies began to wriggle, attempting to fuse back together. As immortals, they would not perish from mere dismemberment. The cloaked figure intentionally left them alive to hear the upcoming conversation.
"Those hiding in the back may come out now." Lith, Fei, and Sylvia were not startled by the discovery. They stepped into the light, much to the shock of the Asuras and the mangled Evure vanguard. Lith gripped his black destruction sword—more accurately, Neo—in his hand. Through the study of Cultivation and the mentorship of Noman and Ruben, the weapon had ascended significantly, becoming a magnificent artifact. No other blade could compare, given its incredibly high affinity with Lith. The sword's power scaled alongside Lith; it was an independent entity capable of its own Cultivation to increase its strength, and it never required sharpening to maintain its lethal edge. Because the blade radiated an aura of pure destruction, it naturally drew the attention of the Asuras and the cloaked figure alike. "That is an intriguing sword you possess," the cloaked figure remarked, reaching out a hand as if to telekinetically pull the weapon from Lith's grasp.
The pitch-black blade began to vibrate, struggling to escape Lith's hold. Lith immediately channeled a strand of his spiritual power and Destruction energy into the weapon, steadying it. He swung the sword to his side and declared, "This is the first time anyone has had the audacity to try and steal from me. I'll give you credit; you are certainly brave." This response caused the man to lower his hand and freeze, clearly stunned. Lith appeared to be a young man no older than twenty-one, and his aura did not suggest he was an ancient being. Yet, his words were incredibly haughty! A rough, low roar echoed through the hall.
"To think... that a creature from the lower realm would dare speak to me in such a manner. It seems the people of this era have truly forgotten the nightmare they once encountered!" With those words, the man vanished, appearing like a ghost right beside Lith. The same gruesome fate that befell the Evure vanguard was about to be unleashed upon him. But Lith was no ordinary target, and neither were the two women at his side.
Faint blue ripples manifested in the air as the phantom struck at Lith. Sparks flew following each ripple as the figure launched a frantic assault.
On the sidelines, Fei whispered a chant while Sylvia performed a series of hand seals. The Legendary duo, possessing extreme affinities for Space and Time, kept the cloaked figure suppressed, ensuring he couldn't land even a single scratch on their Master. When the figure tried to redirect his attacks toward Sylvia and Fei, his efforts were futile; the result remained unchanged. The Asuras in the hall watched in trembling horror. They had absolute confidence in their guardian deity, who had never been defeated even by the strongest of the Asura Sect! What was happening!?!
"Impossible...!"
