The phrase 'My husband' echoed again in Xie Ming's mind.
"You must be wondering how Chen Siquan can possibly be my husband, how we are both married, and how it's all possible, right, elder sister?"
Yurin's words jolted Xie Ming back to reality. "When? How? And why did you do this to me?" she questioned.
"We have been married for three years."
Three years. They had been married for three years. Xie Ming recalled meeting Chen Siquan three years prior, meaning he was already wedded to Xie Yurin at that time.
Xie Ming felt a profound sense of betrayal and shattered hopes, as if a knife had been plunged into her heart. "Why, Yurin, why? How could you do this? I am your sister!"
Tears streamed down her face, her vision clouded by anger, frustration, and the pain of being betrayed by both her sister and her lover.
Xie Yurin smirked, her voice dripping with malice. "How does it feel, elder sister, when something you cherish is snatched away? How does it feel to lose someone you deeply care for and love? Tell me, how does it feel? It feels awful, infuriating, and disheartening, doesn't it? I have endured these feelings my entire life. I wanted you to experience the exact same pain, which is why I orchestrated this entire plan with Chen Siquan."
...
Chen Siquan and Xie Yurin had first met at a mutual friend's party three years ago, and their relationship had blossomed from there.
After skillfully playing the victim with Chen Siquan, Yurin persuaded him to assist in her twisted form of revenge.
Eventually, Yurin requested that Siquan marry her. Blinded by her captivating beauty and deceitful words, Siquan agreed. Once married, Yurin unveiled her elaborate scheme to him, and Siquan, seeing her tears, reluctantly consented.
He too felt a surge of anger and sadness for his beloved when she recounted the perceived injustices she had suffered at the hands of her own father.
.....
Xie Ming chastised herself for her own naivety. Hearing her sister's confession, she oscillated between laughter and tears.
Suddenly, Father Xie bellowed, "You ungrateful wretch! How could you betray your own sister? You are no longer my daughter. My daughter could never be so heartless. I disown you completely. From this day forward, you are no longer recognized as a member of the Xie family. I revoke all your rights and inheritance..."
Before he could complete his declaration, a powerful voice interrupted, "Do that, and all collaboration between the Xie and Chen enterprises will cease today." With that, Chen Siquan strode towards Xie Yurin, placing a protective hand on her shoulder.
"I couldn't care less, Mr. Xie. I have no interest in any collaborations. After today's events, do you truly believe I would want any lingering connection with the Chen Enterprise?"
"Remain calm, Mr. Xie. Severing our collaborations means forfeiting a thousand billion, a sum substantial enough to bankrupt you. As for the Chen Enterprise, our numerous other partnerships, particularly with the Li Corporation, ensure we face no risk of bankruptcy. Consequently, I advise you to deliberate carefully before making any rash or foolish decisions, Mr. Xie."
Father Xie was momentarily stunned by Chen Siquan's words. However, his company's fate or potential bankruptcy was secondary; his children had always been his utmost priority.
Just as he was about to speak, a hand settled on his shoulder. Turning, he saw Xie Ming standing beside him. "Father, please let it go. It was all my fault. I was a fool, unable to grasp the truth. Please, don't abandon our business over someone like me."
With those words, Xie Ming began to walk towards the exit.
"You deserve this, elder sister. This is entirely your fault; you are responsible. Leave now; I never want to see your face again!"
Xie Ming absorbed every word from Xie Yurin, her heart heavy with self-recrimination. Crushed and despairing, she departed the wedding hall. The day destined to be the happiest of her life had transformed into the most agonizing.
