"Hold on a second!"
Suddenly, a thought hit Liu Zheng, and he yelled loudly.
Cang Sha Xiang got a fright and automatically came to a stop.
"What's that for? Don't you realize folks can scare one another to death?"
She complained, clearly annoyed.
That abrupt surge of speed followed by a sharp stop was truly harsh on the muscles, alright.
"You actually halted."
Liu Zheng showed some surprise.
"What else could I do? I'm not like you city slickers full of schemes. But if you try any tricks, Hard Man coach will handle you."
Cang Sha Xiang declared with pride.
From the side, Hard Man cooperatively flexed, his wrist muscles bulging like wings.
"Good I wasn't up to no good."
Liu Zheng chuckled.
"So why did you yell to stop all of a sudden?"
Cang Sha Xiang inquired.
"Because an idea popped up that'll benefit us both."
He slid open the window and bellowed toward the sky.
"Dragonfly Captain, show up!"
With his artificial body running at max capacity, the shout produced visible ripples in the air.
"Hahaha!"
A booming laugh echoed as a silhouette emerged in the horizon's glow.
"First, never act rashly."
"Second, never overlook any misconduct."
"Third, deliver utterly fair and just rulings—Referee Robot Dragonfly Captain is here!"
Amid the bold declaration, Dragonfly Captain zoomed in rapidly, shifted to humanoid robot shape, and glided through the window into the room.
"It's been a while, Dragonfly Captain."
Liu Zheng grinned and offered a greeting.
"Not long for me, young delivery guy."
Dragonfly Captain responded.
"You're Dragonfly Captain!"
Hard Man exclaimed with excitement.
"Coach, you know him?"
Cang Sha Xiang questioned, full of curiosity.
"Sure, during my debut at the Metropolis bodybuilding contest, Dragonfly Captain refereed. Some competitor claimed I used shady body oil, but Dragonfly Captain proved me innocent."
Hard Man explained.
"Ah, you're that young bodybuilder in the pink bunny shorts."
Dragonfly Captain recalled.
"Ahem, Mom made me wear them—said Dad won the title in those. I took third, but sorry to those shorts and to you."
Hard Man said sheepishly.
"No issue, upholding fairness and justice is my job, and seeing amazing contestant displays is my joy. You did great there; I've given plenty reward."
Dragonfly Captain shook his head.
"Ahem, reminisce later? Time's short. Dragonfly Captain, I'm set for an arm-wrestling bout with this girl; the stakes are..."
Liu Zheng cut in, briefing Dragonfly Captain on their wager.
"Arm wrestling? Quite an uncommon contest type. Player, you consent?"
Dragonfly Captain turned to Cang Sha Xiang.
"Coach, your opinion?"
Cang Sha Xiang glanced at Hard Man.
"Fine by me, Dragonfly Captain's better suited as referee than I am."
Hard Man stated assuredly.
"Fine, I'm in."
Just as Hard Man relied on Dragonfly Captain, Cang Sha Xiang trusted her coach fully.
"Okay, Dragonfly Captain, fire up the carousel!"
Wasting no time, Dragonfly Captain called forth the carousel.
Amid flashing vibrant lights, it morphed into a vivid round table.
"Dragonfly Captain Referee Stick!"
He lifted the referee stick and aimed it; the top wings detached, flying to the table's edges and turning into two tiny stools.
"Contestants, please sit."
Dragonfly Captain instructed.
Liu Zheng and Cang Sha Xiang approached the stools and sat, instantly feeling an outward-to-inward binding force.
"I've locked any rule-breaking abilities and items; forcing them brings heavy punishment. Now, get set for the contest."
Dragonfly Captain announced.
Once more, Liu Zheng and Cang Sha Xiang rested their arms on the table and clasped hands.
"Both ready?"
Dragonfly Captain checked.
"Ready!"
They chorused.
"Good, match starts now!"
"Creak! Creak!"
At Dragonfly Captain's signal, they pushed hard together, palm friction sparking a metallic grind.
Each power shift shook the whole floor.
"Not bad skills."
Liu Zheng clenched his teeth, facial muscles straining too.
"You hold up well yourself."
Steam jetted from Cang Sha Xiang's nose, air warping from her intense heat.
"How 'bout I count three, two, one, and we end it decisively?"
Liu Zheng suggested.
"Fine."
Cang Sha Xiang agreed with a nod.
Dragonfly Captain observed quietly; such pacts preserved match impartiality.
"Three!"
"Two!"
"One!"
"Bam!"
As Liu Zheng counted, they unleashed maximum force, compressing and exploding the trapped air between palms.
"Contest ends, delivery man victorious!"
After momentary quiet, Dragonfly Captain declared the winner.
"I won."
Liu Zheng let go of the pinned hand and yanked his foot from the floor hole, exposing snapped rebar.
Fortunate it was minor overflow; building wasn't that sturdy, or feet might pierce the ceiling below—imagine that...
Oh right, Metropolis—feet on the ceiling wouldn't faze anyone here.
