The Royal Military Academy's Impostor Owns a Dungeon [BL] Chapter 1351: The Sound of Torture
Previously on The Royal Military Academy's Impostor Owns a Dungeon [BL]...
A jingle about the periodic table of elements.
Something so utterly mundane and completely unrelated to their current situation that anyone who happened to hear it would’ve probably wondered whether the person singing had finally lost his mind!
And yet, that was precisely what one Oliver Mylor had summoned into his head upon encountering what might very well be his most dangerous situation yet.
Because he didn’t dare think about anything important!
Not a single thing!
In fact, for perhaps the first time in his life, the blonde was genuinely grateful for his rather extraordinary ability to concern himself with absolutely nothing!
Some people might’ve pitied him for being so empty-headed most of the time, but who would’ve thought that particular talent would come in handy today?!
Ollie’s body had gone completely rigid as he desperately continued singing inside his head, practically screaming the lyrics at the top of his nonexistent mental lungs!
And the worst part?
He couldn’t even afford to think about why he was doing it!
Because what if that mysterious bastard heard him?!
Beside him, Kyle immediately noticed his little star’s sudden distress, especially when the blonde’s face began growing increasingly pale.
He gently touched his husband’s arm, hoping to catch his attention without making a sound, only for Ollie to squeeze his eyes shut and clamp both hands over his ears!
"...!"
What the—?!
But the more Kyle tried to get his attention, the louder Ollie’s imaginary singing became!
He didn’t even dare think about the people standing beside him!
Nope!
Not his husband, not his brother, and certainly not the Crown Prince who was probably already wondering why he’d suddenly decided to behave like an absolute lunatic!
He was just a perfectly ordinary blonde who happened to enjoy singing about the periodic table of elements!
What was wrong with that?!
"Ugh!"
"...?"
To everyone’s surprise, the groan hadn’t come from Ollie.
Instead, it came from the mysterious pirate standing several meters away, who’d suddenly raised a hand to his forehead.
"Stop it," the man muttered through gritted teeth. "I don’t want this any more than you do."
"...!"
The others exchanged startled glances.
What?
What was he talking about?!
As for the pirate, he clearly had no intention of explaining himself.
He was too busy tilting his head from side to side, as though desperately trying to shake off some invisible nuisance that had somehow crawled straight into his skull!
"Argh..."
His expression twisted.
Honestly, anyone who believed singing couldn’t be weaponized ought to spend a few seconds listening to whatever the hell was currently assaulting his brain!
Because if this was supposed to be music, then someone really needed to reconsider the definition of that word!
And what made it worse was that the culprit didn’t even seem to be running out of breath!
Of course, that was probably because that punk wasn’t actually using his lungs!
"Tsk!"
But as though the mysterious pirate wasn’t already suffering enough, his predicament was about to become even more troublesome.
Because while he was standing there trying to endure the ghostly shrieking inside his head, several figures suddenly emerged from behind the corner at the end of the corridor.
And judging by their expressions, they weren’t particularly pleased to see him standing over three unconscious pirates while another member of their group appeared to be suffering from some kind of mental breakdown!
"Mister! What did you do to him?!"
A worried yet remarkably determined voice echoed through the subterranean tunnel.
"..."
As though his situation wasn’t already miserable enough, now someone was calling him
The pirate slowly turned toward the shortest person who’d just spoken, his expression darkening considerably.
"Tsk. What did?" he repeated incredulously. "Why don’t you ask him what he’s doing right now? All I did was clarify that I wasn’t talking to bastards, and your companion suddenly decided to attack me like this!"
"...!"
The others immediately turned toward Ollie.
And as luck would have it, that was precisely when the blonde’s imaginary singing reached a particularly unfortunate note.
"UGH!"
The pirate visibly flinched, his face contorting as the piercing sound suddenly cracked somewhere in the middle!
However, the amateur singer would like to inform everyone, particularly this unappreciative hater, that such a minor (major) blunder was entirely understandable!
After all, how was the hardworking (culpable) blonde supposed to maintain his perfect performance when he’d just heard something so outrageous that he couldn’t help reacting?!
"Attack you?!" Ollie gasped, his eyes flying open in disbelief. "Mister! I’ve been What are you calling an attack?!"
"...!"
For a moment, the mysterious pirate simply stared at him.
Then his expression turned downright incredulous.
" Are you seriously calling that singing?!"
"!!!"
What?!
Ollie looked utterly scandalized!
How dare this mean man?!
He might’ve been frightened out of his wits only moments earlier, but that didn’t mean he was going to tolerate someone insulting his artistic talent!
"I singing!" the blonde protested indignantly. "If you can’t appreciate art for what it is, then shouldn’t you just get out of my head?!"
"Then stop directing it at me!"
The pirate practically snarled those words.
Because at this point, there was genuinely nothing he wanted more than for that horrendous noise to stop!
Not even the important objective he’d come here to accomplish could take precedence over saving what little remained of his sanity!
And the most infuriating part?
He’d been there first, patiently waiting for the opportune moment to act! It wasn’t as though he’d deliberately gone looking through the kid’s thoughts. The brat had practically barged into his mind uninvited!
Yes. Exactly that. Barged into his mind!
See, ever since he’d unexpectedly woken up instead of imploding and dying like he and practically everyone else had assumed he would, he’d discovered that he could do something rather unusual.
At first, he’d thought it was just a fluke. However, when he kept hearing thoughts he most definitely didn’t care to hear and wanted absolutely no part in, he’d naturally grown concerned enough to check again.
And again.
And then a few more times, just to make sure he wasn’t imagining things!
In the end, he’d confirmed that the ability was very much real.
The only problem was that he didn’t exactly have complete control over it.
Whenever someone directed their thoughts toward him, he could sometimes pick up those thoughts or even transmit his own in return, provided their spiritual strength wasn’t superior to his own. It was nifty most of the time because, under normal circumstances, it wasn’t particularly difficult to endure.
But this?!
This was practically torture!
The man gritted his teeth, bitterly regretting his earlier decision to clarify whom he’d been addressing.
Because if he’d simply kept his thoughts to himself, perhaps he wouldn’t currently be experiencing what sounded suspiciously like his soul being dragged through the deepest pits of hell!
"...!"
And the damned singing was still going!
Only now, that punk seemed to be doing it with even greater enthusiasm!
The pirate’s fingers dug into his temples as another thoroughly demonic note threatened to split his skull in half.
But just as he was beginning to wonder whether he’d actually survived death only to perish from a children’s educational jingle...
Everything suddenly stopped.
"...?"
