The Royal Military Academy's Impostor Owns a Dungeon [BL] Chapter 1275: Certain Sacrifices

"What?!"
Ollie’s padded fingers immediately shot into the air.
The blonde began frantically counting with them, which proved unnecessarily difficult when the ridiculous protective suit made even separating his fingers into recognizable numbers look like a complicated task.
"Wait! What do you mean we need to be in school in, like, three days and then be there for an entire week?!"
Now, any student who actually attended classes regularly, which was technically supposed to mean every weekday, would’ve probably wanted to strangle the blonde after hearing that particular complaint.
After all, Oliver Mylor barely even saw the shadow of their school gates!
Unfortunately, in this particular case, Ollie’s concern had absolutely nothing to do with wanting to play truant.
No. At least not this time.
He actually had a very valid reason for his current outburst.
The blonde was considerably more worried about accidentally sending one of his classmates to meet their ancestors several decades ahead of schedule!
"How am I supposed to go to school like " Ollie cried, gesturing helplessly at his only temporarily discharged self. "Can’t this be considered a valid reason to skip?!"
Before anyone could answer, however, an unexpected voice calmly joined the conversation.
"But Lord Ollie..."
Everyone turned toward Butler Gary.
The older man had been quietly listening from the side, as usual, remaining attentive in case anyone required his assistance. And while he normally wouldn’t dare intrude on the youngsters’ conversations, as someone who’d once gone out of his way to obtain his Young Lord’s academic calendar and class schedule, he might actually have something worthwhile to contribute this time around.
His expression remained perfectly composed.
"While the Academy might indeed exempt you from this particular activity, considering you’ve technically already obtained your professional license and are only continuing your enrollment for the sake of formality..."
Ollie’s expression slowly brightened.
Finally, someone understood!
Then Butler Gary finished his sentence.
"Would you truly be all right with missing the field trip?"
Silence.
Absolute silence.
For several seconds, the butler’s calm question might as well have been a bomb being dropped directly into the middle of the room.
And then it detonated.
"F-FIELD TRIP?!"
Several people practically shot to their feet at the exact same time, their voices combining into one horrified yet strangely excited screech.
Even Luca’s earlier fear of being formally summoned to school disappeared almost instantly.
Because apparently, nobody had thought to mention the most important part!
__
As if responding to some invisible command, one Orcish Princess, one wrapped and thoroughly fried spring roll, and one practically part-time student but full-time dungeon owner immediately snapped to attention!
"!"
Butler Gary might as well have mentioned food, Corruption Points, or Star Coins with how quickly the three reacted.
Now, for Princess Tharkira Zulgara, a literal Orc who’d somehow come to love human culture almost as fiercely as her hair could possibly burn, those two words immediately brought to mind everything she’d ever learned about such an exciting activity.
Ancient beings sitting side by side, listening to what had to be different national anthems or entire compilations of battle cries, judging by how sincerely moved they always looked and how determined they were to share those ancient little devices they wore over their ears.
Young people traveling together in groups, sometimes packed closely enough that their shoulders actually rubbed against each other without anyone immediately interpreting the contact as a challenge to mortal combat.
Students sharing food, exchanging glances, talking throughout the journey, and apparently doing all sorts of things together simply because they were going somewhere as a group.
Kira repeated those wonderful words several times in her head.
They didn’t have things like that back in the Pyros Galaxy!
Part of the problem was that putting a large number of growing Orcs together inside a confined vehicle for an extended period of time was a wonderful way to ensure only half of them arrived alive at their intended destination.
And even if they somehow survived the transportation, where exactly would they go?
Most interesting activities back home eventually became some variation of fighting anyway.
The venue might change.
The scenery might become prettier.
But ultimately, someone was probably still going to get punched!
Sure, Kira absolutely wouldn’t complain about fighting somewhere with a nicer view, but just once, she wanted to experience something heart-thumping that didn’t involve the possibility of an actual heart attack or a blow to the chest!
Couldn’t they at least visit some stores and pick out the sharpest new weapons together? Or maybe try on different designs of armor?
Because according to all those excerpts she’d read about such scholastic excursions, there was always supposed to be a part like that!
Surprisingly enough, the Orcish Princess wasn’t the only one who’d already developed some extremely strong opinions about this newly discovered activity.
Close by, one electrically charged blonde had apparently reached a conclusion of his own.
Certain sacrifices might just have to be made for something this life-changing.
It would’ve been one thing if he’d been asked to take another one of those blasted written exams, but this...?
A field trip was naturally important!
Ollie couldn’t possibly miss something like that!
Sure, attending while wrapped in enough protective material to make him resemble an overstuffed roll probably wouldn’t be the most comfortable experience of his life, but surely he could endure it for a week!
Anything was better than being the one left behind!
The mere thought sent a chill straight through him.
Imagine everyone coming back afterward and talking about how beautiful the place had been.
They’d show each other pictures.
They’d talk about all the funny things that happened.
Maybe they’d even compare whatever souvenirs and little trinkets they’d bought along the way!
And then there’d be Ollie, standing in the middle of them with absolutely no idea what anyone was talking about while everyone else communicated in some mysterious language of shared experiences he alone couldn’t understand.
"!"
The blonde visibly shuddered.
Absolutely not!
He’d rather go as a wrapped spring roll!
Still, there was one thing bothering him.
Since when did freshmen at the Royal Military Academy even have field trips?!
