Oliver complains about his lost free time after passing out. He then notices Luca is not wearing his glasses and questions him about it. Luca admits he hid them, claiming they are too dangerous now that Xavier can also wear them. Luca explains he has been worried about the twins and their Luxastra bloodline ability, deciding to wear glasses constantly to keep the emulated ability active.

Positioning himself more comfortably on the bed, Xavier shifted closer before reaching out to lightly tap one finger against the frame of his beloved’s specialized glasses.

"I am a little worried, though."

"Hm?"

Naturally, that was more than enough to get the already skittish little guide’s attention.

Luca immediately turned toward him, his brows furrowing with concern as he wondered what could possibly be wrong. Yet instead of answering right away, Xavier merely studied his face for a moment before letting out a quiet sigh.

"I suppose I’ll have to prepare myself."

"Prepare for what?"

"For my wife getting stolen."

"!"

Golden eyes widened behind those lenses.

Xavier, meanwhile, looked almost wistful as he continued, "You already look far too delectable wearing those. If you start walking around like this all the time, wouldn’t the number of flies trying to approach you increase?"

"Ehh?!"

"And if you’re always wearing them, when am I supposed to properly admire those lovely eyes up close?"

The spooked critter stared at him in complete disbelief.

How had they suddenly gotten there?!

"B-but that’s impossible!" he protested, immediately reaching up to touch the glasses. "They’re just eyeglasses! How could wearing them change anything that much?"

He genuinely couldn’t understand how a simple pair of glasses could somehow cause such a drastic difference that his husband would actually be worried about him getting stolen.

If anything, Luca thought they were useful!

"Besides, isn’t it better this way?" he asked earnestly. "If I wear them, then we can look straight at each other without having to worry."

Xavier went quiet.

Then his eyes narrowed ever so slightly.

Apparently, his little wife needed a practical demonstration.

Without giving him much time to react, Xavier reached forward, carefully slipped the glasses right off Luca’s face, and put them on himself.

"!"

The golden-eyed cadet immediately squeezed his eyes shut.

His hands even rose as though he needed to physically defend Xavier from his gaze.

"W-wait! Husband!"

"Yes?"

"Don’t look at me!"

The Prince’s lips twitched.

"Why not?"

"What if I accidentally lose control?!"

"There’s that possibility," he conceded calmly. "But I’m wearing the glasses now."

Luca froze.

Right.

Technically speaking, if his husband was wearing them, then wouldn’t he be protected from the Luxastra ability, much like everyone else was whenever the dungeon owner wore them himself?

"You can look," Xavier murmured, though the little chipmunk still hesitated.

Then, very cautiously, one golden eye cracked open.

His second followed shortly afterward.

And just like that, whatever argument Luca had been preparing immediately disappeared from his brain.

"!"

Oh.

His husband was wearing glasses.

For some completely inexplicable reason, it was as though Xavier’s entire demeanor had shifted the moment those frames settled onto his face. The already ridiculously handsome Imperial Crown Prince suddenly looked even sharper, more refined, and somehow considerably more lethal to Luca’s already questionable ability to think whenever his husband was involved.

To think the man wasn’t even doing much other than exist!

Heat rushed straight to his face, his blood suddenly pounding so hard that he could practically hear it rushing in his ears.

How could putting on one pair of glasses suddenly make someone look like that?!

"H-husband."

Xavier raised a brow, and the little chipmunk almost combusted.

The sly wolf naturally didn’t miss a single bit of his wife’s reaction. Seeing those golden eyes practically glued to him despite all of Luca’s earlier insistence that glasses couldn’t possibly make that much of a difference, Xavier slowly leaned in.

One hand settled against the bed beside that little fox as he gradually moved over him, narrowing what little space remained between them.

"If they really don’t make much of a difference," Xavier murmured, his face now hovering just inches from Luca’s, "then perhaps I’ll wear them from now on."

"!"

"That way, we can simply match."

Luca’s brain immediately supplied him with an image.

His husband.

Walking around outside.

Looking like this.

Where other people could see him.

"!!!"

That was profoundly dangerous!

Yet despite reaching that conclusion, the increasingly frazzled Kyros was doing an extremely poor job of looking away.

With Xavier’s face already so close to his, Luca’s gaze remained hopelessly trapped. He could see those familiar azure eyes through the lenses, the faint curve of his husband’s lips, and every tiny shift in Xavier’s expression as the distance between them seemed to disappear almost on its own.

Then, like two magnets that had drifted just a little too close, whatever invisible force had been holding them apart simply gave way.

Their lips met.

Luca’s eyes fluttered shut almost immediately as he instinctively leaned into the kiss, his hands finding Xavier as naturally as though they’d been pulled there too. What began with that almost inevitable meeting lingered into something slower and more sensual, and when his husband drew him closer, Luca practically melted against him, thoroughly forgetting whatever they’d originally been discussing.

Or at least, he would’ve forgotten completely if the glasses hadn’t made their presence rather difficult to ignore.

Every slight shift sent the frames brushing against Luca’s face, occasionally nudging awkwardly between them whenever they tried to deepen the kiss. Yet somehow, even that minor obstruction wasn’t enough to convince either of them to pull away until they absolutely had to.

By the time they finally parted, the flustered dungeon owner was breathless.

His entire face was burning, and one hand immediately pressed over his chest as though that might somehow calm the frantic pounding underneath it while his wide golden eyes remained helplessly fixed on his bespectacled husband.

"Y-you can’t wear those in public!"

Xavier’s brows shifted with faint amusement.

Luca swallowed before blurting out with absolute conviction, "I-it’s bad for the heart!"

The Imperial Crown Prince, realizing he’d just been handed the perfect opportunity, naturally had no intention of wasting it.

"I feel exactly the same way about you."

"Huh?"

Luca blinked up at him.

Xavier’s gaze slowly traveled over his wife’s face before he added, "You spent the entire day walking around looking far too cute and defenseless in those glasses."

"!"

The golden-eyed cadet immediately flushed.

Unfortunately, his predicament only became considerably worse when the imposing wolf shifted even closer.

With Luca’s head already pressed against the headboard, there was practically nowhere left for him to retreat. Xavier planted one hand beside him, effectively wall-slamming his little wife against the bed’s headboard while shamelessly using his newly bespectacled face as his primary weapon.

And really, that was just unfair!

Because apparently, Luca still hadn’t recovered from discovering just how unfairly well those glasses suited his husband.

The Imperial Crown Prince already had the sort of face that could make people stop and stare, but seeing him like this was proving particularly devastating to Luca’s poor heart.

Then, as though intent on finishing what the glasses had started, his wolfish husband leaned in just a little more.

"It makes it very difficult not to get jealous."

"!"

Luca’s heart gave another violent thump.

Worse, there remained the horrifying possibility that Xavier might actually follow through with his earlier suggestion and start wearing glasses regularly so the two of them could match as a couple.

That sounded incredibly sweet in theory.

In practice, it meant letting his husband walk around in public looking like

Absolutely not!

And so, faced with such an urgent crisis, the desperate wife decided something needed to be done immediately.

Which was precisely how, in the dead of night, the Elders nearly suffered collective heart attacks when Luca and Xavier suddenly ported straight to them while they were still in the middle of conducting tests on the incense burner.
