Luo Yan prepared for a party, but his thoughts were overshadowed by a difficult conversation with his father. He confessed his relationship and his fears of disappointing his father, who revealed he was the last to know. His father assured Luo Yan he would never be disappointed in him and invited Shen Ji Yun and his uncle over for a proper talk.

A knock on the door interrupted Luo Yan's contemplation. Even before he could voice a response, the door swung open, admitting Luo Jin.

Luo Yan offered a smile, his gaze sweeping over his brother. "Look at you. So sharp and handsome."

Luo Jin was clad in a well-fitting, blue-gray suit. The material clung subtly across his broad shoulders and chest, highlighting his solid, gym-sculpted physique. His jacket possessed a clean cut, and the trousers draped perfectly from his hips. The white shirt, unbuttoned at the collar and eschewing a tie, lent the ensemble a more relaxed, natural air. His hair was meticulously swept back from his forehead, exuding an effortlessly refined charm.

His younger brother responded with a grumble. "Do you realize how much cream that stylist Aunt Xiulan hired slathered on my face? I feel incredibly sticky. And she even attempted to apply lipstick to me!"

Luo Yan chuckled. "What's so wrong with a bit of lipstick? Do you think those popular actors don't use any to enhance their appearance? Don't you want to look even more appealing in Sister Yuqi's eyes?"

Luo Jin knitted his brows and grumbled again before settling onto the edge of Luo Yan's bed. "No thank you. Yuqi doesn't place much importance on my looks. She likes me for who I am."

Luo Yan arched an eyebrow. "Well. Good for you."

His brother's gaze fixed on him. "Did something occur between you and Dad? Your behavior, and his, seems rather peculiar."

Luo Yan paused mid-hair adjustment. Luo Jin and Luo Ren had arrived prior to lunch. He and their father had managed a slight reconciliation, yet to any observant individual, the lingering tension between them was palpable. He had hoped the frenzy of party preparations would distract everyone. However, it appeared Luo Jin had indeed noticed.

He let out a soft sigh. "Dad found out."

Luo Jin tilted his head. "Found out about what?"

"About Brother Ji Yun and me," Luo Yan admitted in a low voice.

Luo Jin's eyes widened dramatically, almost comically. He sprang up from the bed. "What? How? You mean your relationship with Shen Ji Yun, correct? How did Dad even discover this?" He paused, his expression morphing. "Wait—don't tell me he witnessed you two engaging in an inappropriate act in public?"

Luo Yan rubbed his cheek, feeling too embarrassed to speak. But Luo Jin immediately deciphered his expression.

"Oh my goodness, I'm right, aren't I?" Luo Jin ran a hand through his hair. "Damn it, Yan! I warned you, you and Shen Ji Yun need to restrain your public displays of affection. It’s as if you're broadcasting your relationship to the world. And now Dad knows."

Luo Yan pouted, murmuring under his breath. "It's not as if we were attempting to conceal it."

Luo Jin shot him a piercing look. "So, you *wanted* Dad to find out?"

"Well, eventually, yes. But I intended to inform him myself. Not for him to discover it in such a manner."

Luo Jin shook his head. "So, what was Dad's reaction? Did he resort to physically confronting Shen Ji Yun?"

Luo Yan gave his brother a look. Why did he seem so eager to hear a 'yes,' as if he desired for their father to have actually assaulted Shen Ji Yun? "Thankfully, he did not."

He then recounted the entire incident to his brother. How their father had discovered them, the subsequent conversation in the study—every detail. By the time Luo Yan concluded, a silence had fallen over Luo Jin.

"Dad is likely displeased with Brother and me as well," Luo Jin stated after a prolonged pause. "After all, we assisted in keeping this from him."

"He isn't angry at you and Brother," Luo Yan said, attempting to soothe him. "Perhaps a little disappointed, but not furious. This is primarily my doing, so don't excessively worry about Dad's continued displeasure with you. Nevertheless, you should probably offer an apology. Just to be safe."

Luo Jin sighed. "Yes, I'll handle that later." He paused. "But does Brother know about this?"

"No, I haven't had the opportunity to tell him yet," Luo Yan replied. "I'll try to bring it up later."

"I'll do it," Luo Jin offered. "That way, the two of us can speak with Dad together."

Luo Yan nodded. Yes, that would indeed be preferable.

"But is Shen Ji Yun still attending the party?" Luo Jin inquired.

"He will be there. Both he and Uncle Yi Mu have been invited. Uncle Chen and Aunt Xiulan would find it peculiar if they suddenly failed to appear."

Luo Yan had contacted Shen Ji Yun following his discussion with his father. Shen Ji Yun had expressed concern after departing, so Luo Yan reassured him, relaying his father's proposal to meet on Sunday for a proper discussion. Shen Ji Yun readily agreed. He then inquired whether he should still attend the party that evening. Luo Yan affirmed, of course.

"Do Uncle and Aunt know about the two of you?" Luo Jin questioned.

Luo Yan shook his head. "Not yet. I'll probably have to tell them after the party tonight, since Brother Ji Yun and Uncle Yi Mu are coming over tomorrow to talk with Dad. And knowing them, they'll probably want to be part of that conversation too."

"Wow. That's like meeting the family," Luo Jin said, a touch of sarcasm in his voice. "Can't wait to hear how that conversation goes."

Luo Yan gave his brother a playful punch on the arm. "Hey, don't talk like you're jinxing it. This is my relationship, you know."

Luo Jin rolled his eyes at him. "Yeah, yeah. Come on, let's go. I almost forgot I came here to get you."

"Go on ahead. I'll be right behind you," Luo Yan said. "I just need to fix my hair a little."

Luo Jin glanced at his hair, his face practically saying there was nothing wrong with it and wondering what there was even to fix. But he just shrugged and walked out of the room.

After his brother left, Luo Yan opened the drawer of his study table and pulled out a small velvet box. He tucked it into the inner pocket of his suit jacket. Once he was sure the gift was secure, he headed out the door.
