The Legendary Son-in-law of the Emperor Chapter 2 - 2 2 The Petty Prince, A Public Embarrassment

Zhao Yulong cast a condescending gaze toward Ye Xuan, his tone measured and dismissive. "My visit today serves two purposes: first, to check on Youwei, and second, to observe what kind of man has become her husband."
"While I missed my chance to see Youwei, finding you here has been a profound disappointment."
"How could a worthless creature like you ever bring true joy to someone like Youwei?"
"Your presence alone drags her reputation through the dirt, serving only as a target for mockery!"
Fixing Ye Xuan with a chilly stare, Zhao Yulong continued at a leisurely pace. "Did you mention wanting Qi Condensing Pills? Here are ten. Take them, vanish from the Emperor Immortal Sect immediately, and never let your face be seen again."
As he uttered these words, Zhao Yulong produced a pale jade bottle. With a mocking smirk, he flicked it carelessly toward Ye Xuan.
Whoosh!
The white jade container soared through the air. While it appeared mundane, it was imbued with a sharp, hidden force.
This was clearly a calculated attempt to humiliate Ye Xuan.
With a clean snap, Ye Xuan effortlessly caught the jade bottle. He raised his eyes to meet Zhao Yulong’s, his demeanor entirely serene. "What concerns exist between my wife and myself that involve you?"
A brief flash of astonishment crossed Zhao Yulong’s expression before vanishing, replaced by a scoff. "Youwei and I were inseparable throughout our youth. Had I not been in deep seclusion to breakthrough to the Prince realm during those years, do you truly believe you would have the privilege of standing before me?"
Turning his back to address Jiang Jing, Zhao Yulong bowed with a performative display of grief. "Auntie, I am utterly disheartened by the man Youwei has been saddled with. She is the preeminent Goddess of the Lie Tian Heavenly Country and the honored Princess of the Emperor Immortal Sect. Associating her with a man who lacks any capacity for Cultivation is a travesty."
"I implore you, Auntie, to cast this Ye Xuan out of our gates and restore Youwei's dignity!" Zhao Yulong emphasized every syllable.
"Hehe..." Ye Xuan let out a sudden chuckle.
The nature of his relationship with Zhou Youwei was their own private matter; by what authority did this outsider presume to judge them?
"Ye Xuan, who gave you permission to step out and make a scene? Get back to your quarters immediately!" Before Ye Xuan could retort, his mother-in-law, Jiang Jing, interjected with a frigid rebuke.
She had explicitly instructed Bingyi to keep this fool hidden to prevent public disgrace, yet he had emerged on his own, inviting nothing but ridicule. Simultaneously, she felt a flicker of annoyance toward Zhao Yulong. Regardless of the circumstances, this was a family affair. While she viewed Zhao Yulong as an ideal candidate for a son-in-law, his interference had clearly crossed the line.
"Making a scene... is that not exactly what you are doing?" Ye Xuan glanced at Jiang Jing, remaining utterly unfazed.
Throughout the year he had spent as a husband in the Emperor Immortal Sect, Jiang Jing had consistently treated him with disdain. Now, she had escalated to calling him a dog in the presence of strangers.
Had it been the original Ye Xuan, he might have retreated in shame. But the current Ye Xuan, whose Emperor Soul had been reawakened, was no longer that pathetic figure. He was the Undying Night Emperor, a sovereign who had dominated the ages.
"You dare answer me back?" Jiang Jing’s voice turned glacial.
"A mere piece of trash has the audacity to talk back to an Elder? Allow me to teach you a lesson, you wretch who doesn't understand your place!" Zhao Yulong laughed, his eyes narrowing into cold slits as malice danced within them.
Boom——
An overwhelming pressure erupted from Zhao Yulong's frame, cascading like a tidal wave directly toward Ye Xuan.
This was the genuine, crushing presence of a Prince.
Zhou Bingyi paled visibly at the sight. Though she found Zhao Yulong abrasive, she could not deny his genius in Cultivation. Barely in his early twenties, he had already attained the Prince realm. Such potential was rare throughout the entire Southern Domain.
In contrast, at sixteen years of age, Ye Xuan was a complete mortal with no command over Qi. How could a common man hope to resist the crushing aura of a Prince?
Involuntarily, Zhou Bingyi felt a surge of apprehension.
"Yulong..." Jiang Jing’s expression wavered, surprised that Zhao Yulong would resort to physical intimidation in her presence. However, she quickly kept silent, choosing not to intervene. She had long desired to see Ye Xuan humbled, restrained only by considerations for her daughter.
Yet, the next instant, both mother and daughter were paralyzed by disbelief.
Boom——
With a thunderous crash, Zhao Yulong was propelled backward, slamming into the palace wall. He spat out a mouthful of blood, collapsing in a heap, his body trembling listlessly.
Ye Xuan, the man they perceived as a powerless mortal, stood perfectly unscathed, watching the fallen Zhao Yulong with detached calm.
"Impossible!" Jiang Jing and Zhou Bingyi gasped in unison, their eyes locked on Ye Xuan in pure shock.
Zhao Yulong stared at Ye Xuan with ferocious intensity, his mind reeling in terror. In that fleeting second, he had sensed the cold touch of death. What manner of power was that? A single look had inflicted such grievous injury upon him! How could the rumored village idiot possess such overwhelming strength?
Panic began to seep into Zhao Yulong’s gaze.
Ye Xuan stepped toward him, looking down from above with icy indifference. "Does a mere Prince think he can act so arrogantly in my presence?"
"Stop!"
Jiang Jing suddenly moved, shielding Zhao Yulong from Ye Xuan.
Ye Xuan arched a brow, eyeing his mother-in-law.
"Ye Xuan, you are forbidden from causing violence within these halls," Jiang Jing admonished.
"Oh?" Ye Xuan offered a thin, mirthless smile. "Why didn't I see such urgency from my esteemed mother-in-law only moments ago when I was the one being targeted?"
"Yulong did not injure you, so why did you harm him?" Jiang Jing retorted, willfully ignoring the biting sarcasm in his voice.
"Are you suggesting, honored mother-in-law, that I should have remained defenseless and allowed him to cripple me before I opted to retaliate?" Ye Xuan countered. Every person in the room knew he possessed no cultivation, yet Zhao Yulong had unleashed a Prince’s full killing intent upon him. Jiang Jing had stood by and watched the threat unfold—an egregious act of negligence. Now that the tables had turned, she stood as a shield for the aggressor. Her hypocrisy disgusted him.
Had his soul not recovered to harness immense power, it would be his broken body lying on the floor, not Zhao Yulong’s.
"Is this how the Emperor Immortal Sect allows this Ye Xuan to behave?" Zhao Yulong managed to stand, his eyes burning with vengeful resolve.
His audacity further irritated Jiang Jing. She looked at Ye Xuan, her eyes cold as ice. "If you have even a sliver of respect for me as your mother-in-law, get out of my sight!"
Fearless, Ye Xuan met her gaze. "Then I suppose, mother-in-law, that I possess no respect for you at all."
