The Legend of Futian Chapter 2963 - Arrival of the Tianshens

Previously on The Legend of Futian...
Ye Futian enjoyed a serene winter morning in Qingzhou as he and his companions, Hua Jieyu and Xia Qingyuan, reveled in the simplicity of life, building snowmen and strolling through the snow-covered city. Their moment of peace was interrupted by the arrival of a mysterious, imposing figure, a harbinger that piqued the curiosity of the academy's youths. As Ye Futian approached the stranger, it became evident that this encounter held significance, evoking memories from their past as he was joined by Yu Sheng, bringing forth a sense of nostalgia amidst the winter's stillness.

Under the shade of the ancient tree, white snow descended upon Ye Futian and Yu Sheng, draping them in a wintry cloak.

With his eyes shut, Ye Futian allowed his consciousness to drift back through the years. This was the place where he and Yu Sheng had spent their youth, and now, their journey had brought them back to the very same spot.

A cascade of past events surged through his mind, forming vivid images that became permanently etched into his soul. In this moment, he felt as though the barriers of time had dissolved, transporting him back to his younger days.

Back then, his heart was light and free of burdens. Life was uncomplicated, and he lived in a state of pure joy.

As snowflakes brushed against his skin, a soft smile played on Ye Futian’s lips.

The boundary between the past and the present began to blur and overlap.

As Ye Futian retreated into his memories, his facial features and very temperament underwent a transformation. Yet, he would quickly revert to his current self. His physical form flickered, alternating between a ghostly illusion and a solid body of flesh and blood. These subtle shifts occurred so rapidly that no outsider could perceive them.

Eventually, Ye Futian’s faint smile broadened into a radiant grin. The truth had finally become clear to him.

The past and the present were one.

He was the manifestation of the Heavenly Path, yet he remained himself.

He existed simultaneously in the days of old and in the current moment.

Elsewhere in the Qingzhou Academy, Hua Fengliu stood amidst the falling snow, tilting his head back to watch the white flakes drift down.

Suddenly, a figure appeared in the distance, trudging through the snow toward him. The man had a hunched back and looked quite frail. When Hua Fengliu turned his attention away from the winter scenery, his eyes fell upon the elderly man. He froze in shock, unable to believe the sight before him.

......

Hua Fengliu wondered what was happening.

Was he suddenly suffering from a hallucination?

The old man came to a halt and offered Hua Fengliu a warm smile.

The scene felt far too vivid to be a dream.

Hua Fengliu pinched himself, but the old man did not vanish. With a voice that shook with emotion, Hua Fengliu whispered, “Master?”

“Mhm,” the elder replied, nodding his head gently.

“Grandmaster!” Hua Jieyu cried out as she hurried toward them. Just like her father, she stared at the old man with wide, disbelieving eyes.

The elder’s gaze was kind as he looked upon Hua Fengliu and Hua Jieyu. Nearby, Hua Nianyu watched the exchange with confusion. She had no idea who this man was, never having known that her father possessed a Master.

“You...” Hua Fengliu was still struggling to process the elder’s return. He turned his head toward the ancient tree where Ye Futian sat in silence. Both he and Hua Jieyu looked in that direction, and a sudden realization struck them. Though they were stunned, wide smiles broke across their faces, and tears of joy began to track down their cheeks.

They understood exactly what this development signified!

The dark times were finally coming to an end.

Simultaneously, a terrifying pressure began to weigh down upon the City of the Ruins. High in the endless firmament, a colossal face manifested.

From the distant Heaven Realm, Ji Wudao’s piercing gaze cut through the void to monitor the city below.

Legions of Cultivators had converged upon the city, representing the Heavenly Mandate Court, the Dark World, and the World of Buddhism.

Donghuang Diyuan, the ruler of the Divine Prefecture, was also present. She stood as the supreme commander of the Divine Prefecture’s forces. While today’s conflict might be their final stand, they had all sworn a blood oath to defend the world Ye Futian had built.

A heavy, somber atmosphere gripped the city. The armies of the City of the Ruins had marched out; the drums of war were ready to sound.

“Diyuan,” a familiar voice called out. Donghuang Diyuan stiffened in surprise. When she turned to see the figure standing there, her heart skipped a beat.

Every Cultivator from the Donghuang Imperial Palace stood paralyzed with shock at the sight of the man.

“Father.” Donghuang Diyuan’s voice trembled. She couldn't comprehend how this was possible.

She stared, unable to trust her own senses.

“I have returned to stand with you in this war,” Donghuang the Great said, smiling at her.

...

Back under the ancient tree at Qingzhou Academy, Yu Sheng opened his eyes and looked up at the sky.

The great war had commenced.

Yu Sheng glanced at Ye Futian sitting beside him. He noted that his friend's aura was in a state of constant, fluid change, shifting every second. Yu Sheng remained quiet, refusing to disturb him, knowing that Ye Futian was on the verge of a profound epiphany.

Suddenly, a loud disturbance broke the peace of the academy. A group was approaching on horseback, while massive beasts soared through the clouds above. It was a formidable gathering. Numerous Cultivators had entered the academy grounds and were marching toward their location.

“Cao Zheng of the Cao clan is here to pay his respects!” a loud voice announced from the academy gates.

The Cultivators within the academy emerged to see what was happening. Outside the gates, the citizens of Qingzhou had also gathered. They could sense a shift in the air, a feeling that something momentous was about to occur. Most assumed the Cao clan was there because of Cao Yuan.

It was common knowledge in Qingzhou that Cao Yuan had feelings for Hua Nianyu.

The members of the Cao clan marched into the academy, heading directly toward Hua Fengliu. Several Elders of the Qingzhou Academy walked alongside them, wearing polite smiles as they approached.

Seeing this, Hua Fengliu’s brow furrowed in annoyance.

The Cao clan certainly had a lot of nerve showing up here.

The Headmaster of the Qingzhou Academy stood behind Hua Fengliu, watching the events unfold without intervening. He knew his help wouldn't be necessary.

Since rising to the status of the premier clan in Qingzhou, the Cao family had become insufferably prideful.

Their arrogance stemmed from their limited perspective. Today, they were likely to learn the true meaning of power.

“Master,” Cao Zheng and Cao Yuan said, offering a shallow bow to Hua Fengliu. Cao Zheng then spoke up: “My son, Cao Yuan, has long held your second daughter in high regard. We have come today to formally propose a marriage. It would bring great honor to the Cao clan if he were to become your son-in-law.”

“Please depart,” Hua Fengliu answered flatly. His words were like a splash of freezing water. The smile on Cao Zheng’s face vanished instantly. Hua Fengliu didn't even bother with pleasantries or social grace; he rejected them outright.

He didn't even spare Cao Yuan a single glance.

“Master, my son possesses remarkable talent. He is one of the most brilliant figures in all of Qingzhou,” Cao Zheng pressed on.

“Master, Cao Yuan is truly a leader among the younger generation. He would be a fine match for your daughter,” the academy Elders added from the side.

“Get out.”

A voice as cold as a winter gale cut through the air. From his position in the distance, Yu Sheng glared at them. Cao Zheng and his followers turned to look, their faces darkening with anger. However, Yu Sheng’s eyes were terrifying, radiating an absolute authority and a domineering pressure that forced them to look away.

Feeling humiliated, Cao Zheng lowered his head, unable to match Yu Sheng’s intensity.

“Who do you think you are? What right do you have to interfere in the business of the Cao clan?” Cao Yuan barked. Being young and hot-headed, he lacked the wisdom to be afraid. His heart burned with rage at being shamed during his proposal.

The air grew frigid as Yu Sheng’s gaze locked onto Cao Yuan. At that moment, Ye Futian, who had been resting against the tree, opened his eyes.

“Yu Sheng,” Ye Futian said softly. Yu Sheng immediately reined in his aura and looked toward his friend.

Ye Futian stood up and walked toward the group. He paused before Elder Qin and bowed deeply, saying, “My greetings, Grandmaster.”

Elder Qin hurried forward to lift him up, protesting, “Futian, there is no need for such formalities.”

“Grandmaster, it is my honor to show respect,” Ye Futian said with a smile. Only then did Elder Qin nod, his face glowing with fatherly pride.

The members of the Cao clan were fuming at being ignored. Cao Yuan was particularly incensed; he had come to be the center of attention, yet Ye Futian had stolen his spotlight.

Ye Futian turned to Cao Yuan and gave a simple order: “Leave.”

“And who are you to tell me what to do?” Cao Yuan snapped back. The tension in the air was palpable. The disciples of the academy watched with bated breath, some fearing for Ye Futian’s safety.

After all, the Cao clan was the undisputed power in Qingzhou.

“Who am I?” Ye Futian chuckled. He looked up at the sky and declared, “I have returned!”

As those words left his lips, the same voice echoed across the distant battlefield of the City of Ruins.

“I have returned.”

“I have returned...”

The voice boomed through the atmosphere, reaching every ear. Instantly, the Cultivators of the Heavenly Mandate Court and the Divine Prefecture were overcome with joy. Their faces were masks of pure shock and elation.

A world-shaking aura suddenly erupted. A divine tribulation capable of unmaking the world began to descend.

Countless pillars of catastrophic light struck the earth simultaneously. On the battlefield, the invading forces were instantly vaporized by the power of the divine tribulation.

In a mere heartbeat, thousands upon thousands of enemies were wiped out.

Back at the Qingzhou Academy, the onlookers were confused, wondering who Ye Futian was talking to.

But in the next second, the heavens themselves seemed to tear open.

Rumble. A beam of divine radiance pierced through a rift in space, bathing the entire city of Qingzhou in light.

Rumble. Rumble. Rumble. A torrent of divine lights followed the first, illuminating the sky with blinding brilliance. Dazzling halos spread across the horizon. These lights originated from the depths of outer space, encircling the city. A suffocating, majestic God’s might settled over everyone.

The citizens of the city rushed out of their homes, their hearts pounding against their ribs.

“A miracle from the gods!” people shouted, falling to their knees in worship. They could feel the divine presence. Were the Tianshens descending upon them?

One by one, the Tianshens began to manifest as the divine beams hit the city. Each one was a deity who ruled over a corner of the world. The people of the city watched in awe and terror. What kind of sight was this?

The very sky was filled with Tianshens!

The members of the Cao clan felt their hearts nearly stop. They, along with the academy students, were paralyzed by the arrival of these divine beings.

What shocked them most of all was that the Tianshens all had their eyes fixed solely on the Qingzhou Academy.

“We greet the Heavenly Emperor,” the Tianshens spoke in unison, bowing their heads toward the academy.

At that moment, while the people of Qingzhou were busy worshiping the Tianshens...

The Tianshens themselves had come to offer their worship!
