The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse Chapter 1783: Return of the Asura Race (10)
Previously on The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse...
Old Man Zorvian walked out of the Silver Void Gate wearing an amused smile on his face.
The moment the six Patriarchs of the six ancient families saw him, they all frowned. "Zorvian, smack this brat and break us out of here. We will owe you greatly for that."
Zorvian looked at them and smiled. "And why would I do that?"
"Huh... what do you mean by that, Zorvian?" Nyxaroth asked, his demon eyes showing anger and annoyance.
"From where I stand now, you six are mere bugs in a cage. If I want, I can help my son deal with your families until only the children remain. After that, I will absorb them into my family, making sure your names cease to exist for good."
The six patriarchs could only stare at Zorvian with stunned expressions.
Aetherion of the Aetherion Ancient Family, a race of Star Beasts, asked, "Your son? Are you implying that the Paragon is your son?"
Zorvian only smiled, but it was enough to tell the six patriarchs that he really is the father of the Paragon.
"So the rumours were true. Your family really is in bed with the Paragon, an enemy of the Universe. How low of you, Zorvian," Drakhar spoke with a sneer.
"Calling him an enemy is rather wrong of you, Drakhar. Compared to you six, he is the bravest warrior I have ever met. When you six retreated back then, it affected him, but instead of running, he fought to the bitter end, making sure the universe continued to thrive.
From that alone, I think we both can establish that he deserves to be given his flowers. But that is not why I am here today, nor am I here to support him against you, so rest assured, I will not touch your families."
"Then why are you here?" Tikkun asked.
"To make sure the universe isn’t swallowed by the Chaos Rift." Zorvian turned and looked at Asura. "You were right. The heavens really want you dead, so much so that they are willing to open the Chaos Rift and rain down horror on this universe."
"Figured," Asura sighed. He extended his right arm, and Nyrela materialized beside him and took his arm.
"You were right, Nyrela. My legacy would indeed appear today."
Two weeks ago, after they returned from the Ancient Battlefield, Nyrela was suddenly pulled into the Paragon Star for an entire day.
When she returned, she said she had lived a thousand years on the Paragon Star trying to decipher something. That something was one of the nine legacies of the Paragon.
According to her, it was triggered by something unexpected. After she shared the details with Asura, he figured out what that thing was.
It was the Chaos Rift.
During the Blood Era, this rift opened, and the Chaos Beasts nearly devoured half of the universe. It was the Asura race that stopped them.
Now, while it was sealed and wasn’t supposed to open for who knows how long, the heavens, influenced by Axarax, had triggered it.
Asura’s legacy was also triggered since he was always meant to finish what he had started. It was the reason he never attacked the six ancient families immediately.
He reached out to Old Man Zorvian, the only person he knew who could help him. He gave him this cage, which would trap the six Primordials for an hour.
Asura then asked Queenie how long it would take for the gateway to open, and she also said an hour.
Right now, if his calculation was correct, there would be a 2-minute window between the cage disappearing and the gateway opening. This meant he must find a way to hold back the six Primordials for two additional minutes.
But while they were a threat, the Chaos Beasts coming would have more time to completely shatter their plans.
Queenie had told Asura some time ago that this is the destiny of the Asura race. They can’t come back to this universe that easily, so they must be prepared.
"Paragon, how do you plan to handle this?" Zorvian asked and then added, "In less than an hour, the cage will disappear, and they will be free. While I can hold them back for a few moments, there is a chance the invasion of the Chaos Beasts will be too severe for us before these six are even free."
"In other words, you are fucked, Paragon," Aetherion laughed.
Asura looked at him and grinned. "Aetherion, I know among the six of you, you have more brains than they do, so why don’t you tell me this? What is the strongest thing about the Asura Race?"
Aetherion frowned, but he answered... "Blood."
"Correct, blood. We are a race that grows stronger when there is blood around us. You can even say we never grow tired when there is blood." The smile on Asura’s face grew cold... "If that is the case, then what do you think will happen when the Asura race return to a battlefield filled with blood?"
Aetherion and the other five patriarchs frowned. But Drakhar arrogantly said, "That will depend on whether or not you can succeed in freeing them."
"But I can. I really can do that. After all, you six are going to help me." Asura grinned and looked to his left... "In fact, you will have no reason not to help me."
Just then, the sky turned dark, and a large crack formed right below the clouds. From within, thick Chaos Qi started to pour out.
The six patriarchs frowned. "Still, we can just choose to stand on the side and watch you and your people get devoured by the chaos."
Asura grinned even more evilly now and pulled out a camera... "Start the live stream."
A second later, the entire Chaos Cave appeared on every last screen, both in the real world and the Dark Space...
"Hello, lovely people. My name is Asura, yes, that Asura. I was once known as the Paragon of Blood and the King of the Asura race.
If you are seeing my face today, it is because the universe is threatened by our old enemies from the Blood Era, the Chaos Beasts. Yes, they are back. However, fear not, for I have the Seven Ancient Families with me today.
They have pledged to protect this universe with their lives, so sit back and watch them fight for a better tomorrow.
Don’t forget to cheer for them."
All six patriarchs were left stunned...
