The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse Chapter 1725: Beef Aside
Previously on The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse...
Rhazor had no intention of letting the two couples mess with him, thinking they had the power to look down on him. He had suffered because of them in the past.
So this time around, he planned to make them aware that, in the grand scheme of things, he was someone they couldn’t mess around with, not even for a moment now.
So he unleashed his dao, leaving them all wondering why their lives suddenly felt in danger.
"Let’s make one thing straight. You two are powerful warriors, two of the best I have ever encountered. Your potential is just out of this world, and I admire that. I like competent warriors, and you two fit the criteria. However, you will be fooling yourselves if you think that just because you are Pseudo-Primordials, you can look down on me.
Trust me, I am not the same as before, when you two could just come and go as you pleased. I am different now, and so take this warning seriously, for it may just be the last one you will ever hear from me.
Back off now and allow me to do as I please, or face me and die knowing I have given you a chance, and you blew it."
The tension in the room rose to its peak before suddenly subsiding...
Then Gpako laughed, looking back at Rhazor with a challenge in his eyes. "I have to admit, you are someone capable, Paragon. Even if many don’t know, we have personally fought you and seen what you are capable of.
However, do you seriously think you have what it takes to challenge us? It may seem like, with you now in possession of a dao, you can bridge the gap in strength. However, you are forgetting one thing: we haven’t lived for millions of years just to be defeated by a mere god.
If you think we are weak, then trust me when I say this: you are a big fool."
Eshun took over, her tone soft. "Gpako is right. You are indeed capable now, but you still lack the strength to take us on, either individually or as a group. So, better show some respect since we are your superiors."
Rhazor smirked and then grinned. "But you see, I am not saying I am stronger than you two. Lord knows I am not close to even measuring up against two monsters such as yourselves.
However, you two seem to forget something. You see, this version of me is just one-tenth of who I am. Meaning there are nine others like me out there, each having their own dao.
So tell me: if three of me were to come against you, each bearing a unique dao, would you have the power to fight back? Right now, it is just one version of me, but I know with absolute certainty that you two cannot defeat me easily.
So what then happens when three of me come?"
This time, the smiles on the faces of the Everlasting Blade Master and Scarlet Fan Maiden froze. They didn’t consider this aspect of him at first.
But who could blame them? They had been in the Ancient Battlefield for a long time, so they knew little to nothing about the return of their old nemesis, the Paragon.
If they had known, perhaps they wouldn’t have taken him for granted.
But they do now, and inasmuch as they wished to twist things and still act arrogant, they knew the Paragon all too well. If they dared corner him here, he would return with a force so devastating that they each would wish they had never been born.
So they took the wisest route; they decided to talk business...
"You hadn’t attacked us despite the bad blood between us, and we certainly know you aren’t here to cause trouble for us, so why don’t you tell us why you are here and how we can help you?"
Rhazor stared at the two for a few minutes, then sighed.
"You two have Ember and Nyrela to thank. I had planned to kill all who had tried to kill me back in my previous incarnations. You were at the top of my list, even. However, Ember and Nyrela managed to change my mind, so I won’t kill you.
But in exchange for not killing you, I want access to everything there is to know about the Ancient Battlefield and the Forsaken Race. Rest assured, I have no plans to compromise this outpost or harm the Human Universe.
Unlike you two, who had aided the Celestial Supreme for years in bringing evil back to our universe, I have only tried to protect life, and so I know you can trust me.
So what do you say? In exchange for keeping your miserable lives, I need access to everything."
The mention of the Celestial Supreme stung. However, the war couple didn’t argue since they knew they had indeed made a blunder.
But asking for access to something very confidential surely wasn’t something trained warriors like themselves would grant easily.
But then again, it was the Paragon they were talking about here. He wasn’t someone they liked, but in light of recent events, they knew he could at least be trusted. That was all they needed to know to move on with his request.
"I envy you, Paragon," Eshun said, a smile forming at the corner of her lips. "You had been ridiculed for years, yet you never broke. You kept your head straight and never once went out of your way to hurt the innocent.
It took us some time to realize that when we learned of what happened to your Beast Legion and their families. You can even say we secluded ourselves here to atone for our sins of hurting innocent people.
For that, we apologize. And since we are here now, we also accept your request. However, you must follow standard protocol and take missions like everyone else. The only difference will be that you and your team can take on any mission, even if you have just joined.
I hope that would be enough for now, and hopefully, in the future, we can have a better conversation and explore the possibility of collaborating to protect the universe."
