The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse Chapter 1687: BOOM
Previously on The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse...
There are some things that cannot be forgotten or ignored, no matter how long has passed or how dire the situation in which they occurred is.
Four beasts and a human demigod charging headfirst into a devastating tide created by a Primordial-level beast is one such moment.
As Auren struggled to move his body while carrying General Nura, Kaden and his four Primordial Flame Spirits charged into the tide.
He had no time to stop them.
In fact, even if he had had the time to stop them, the mere fact that Kaden and his four beasts had arrived all at once and the shock of it all took the moment away from him.
All he knew was that the moment they appeared, the pressure on him and his people lessened.
But he wasn’t done taking a deep breath when the crimson phoenix made her move. Void flew into the air and spread her wings, letting out a powerful screech.
Behind her, thousands of piercing feathers flared into existence, and with a flap of her wings, they exploded forward, leaving crimson trails in the air.
As they moved, the space around them started to crack and shatter, a clear indication that this attack was beyond what a Supreme could handle. In fact, Auren felt the weight on him and his companions lessen so much that he could move much faster.
This told him that the attack from the phoenix seemed to contain something that threatened the Six-Tails Elder Mantis. But even if it didn’t, the moment the orange dragon and the white one also unleashed devastating breath attacks, the Six-Tails Elder Mantis became alert.
The tide was reduced to nothing from just the feather attacks. However, when the breath attacks struck the giant monstrosity, its metallic body seemed to be covered by a faint layer of energy.
BOOM BOOM BOOM
The attacks landed on it, causing the very space around them to crack and expose the void. Kaden jumped off Qilin’s back and sprouted a pair of crimson wings.
He moved toward the vicious beast, but before he could close the gap between them, a terrifying pressure crashed down on him.
"Heavens Engine," he activated his gravity law, cancelling out the pressure on himself.
Then he tapped into the Law of Space, and he reduced the space between himself and the beast. This made it easy for him to climb onto one of its tails. Then, with a twirl of his hand, a giant axe bathed in white flames appeared.
Kaden wasted no time and unleashed a devastating strike, embedding the axe into the giant tail. One would have laughed at Kaden for daring to strike such a hard tail.
After all, it looked metallic and very sturdy. However, when the axe fell, if one paid close attention, they would have seen a layer of axe intent coating its edge, giving it a sharpness that could cut through anything.
It was one of the many accomplishments he had achieved while training on the second floor of the Inheritance Tower. He had mastered intent for most weapons, with the sword, spear, scythe, and axe being among them.
Of course, he could have used his sword, which frankly would have been the most practical weapon at the moment. However, Kaden’s battle intelligence was vast and deep enough to know when to use something and why.
Right now, he had activated the Heavens Engine to handle the pressure. This meant he was harnessing the Law of Gravity. So if that was the case, why not use it on the weapon as well?
He knew cutting into such a hard tail would require much more than axe intent, and he was right. His power level wasn’t strong enough to handle such a massive tail with only axe intent.
But if he could make his axe very heavy—in fact, so heavy that even without axe intent it could leave a dent—then, by applying the intent, instead of leaving a dent, the large blade of his axe dug into the massive black tail.
One would, however, wonder why he only wished to cut into the tail. After all, with a creature such as the Six-Tails Elder Mantis, cutting into its tail was akin to tickling it.
So why did Kaden go as far as risking being poisoned just to leave a single cut on the tail?
Well, he had poison immunity, but against such a poison, he would surely be rendered immobile for a few minutes, which was long enough for the Six-Tails Elder Mantis to kill him.
However, the moment the axe cut into its body, a smirk formed on Kaden’s face. "It is unfortunate that killing you would be troublesome. But then again, we will never know until we try, so why not try something new?"
Instead of removing the axe, Kaden jumped back, letting the axe dissolve into dark-gold ice. The next second, Kaden felt waves of energy begin to flow into his body.
He turned the axe into his Devouring Forbidden Ice.
At the same time, the Six-Tails Elder Mantis felt its energy being sucked away so rapidly that, before it could make any attempt to stop it, it had already lost about 5% of its energy.
It let out a powerful screech, its body releasing waves of ice that froze the sea at once.
"Time’s up."
Instead of making any attempt to attack again, Kaden turned around to leave. The two seconds Jane needed had been met, so the next move was to retreat. But before he could move, a second tail lunged at Kaden with terrifying speed.
BANG
Qilin slammed into it from the side, changing its trajectory. But things didn’t end there. Two more tails lunged forward, causing the very space around Kaden to destabilize. However, rather than panicking, he grinned, almost as if he welcomed the danger.
Of course he did. All he had been waiting for was to find an opponent he could test his deadliest attack.
Kaden looked at the distance between himself and his companions, and the smile on his face widened. He waved his hand, and at once, the Primordial Lotus of Destruction appeared.
He knew that with his people around, using the Absolute and Extreme Layers would be too destructive. However, his opponent was also a monster in its own right, so he plucked the petal of the Soul Fury Forbidden Flame in both the Perfect Harmony and Absolute Layers, then added the Chaotic Nirvana Forbidden Flame at the Absolute Layer as well.
"You asked for it."
He threw the three petals forward, and at the same time, he allowed Jane to pull him away alongside his Primordial Flame Spirits.
The next second, he appeared several thousand miles away and mouthed the words...
"BOOM."
The space around the Six-Tails Elder Mantis turned white, blinding everyone who had the misfortune of witnessing such a sight.
The Soul Fury Forbidden Flame exploded with blinding white radiance, unleashing a devastating soul attack. It was so vast and deadly that the moment the orange flames appeared, it told Auren that whoever this Six-Tails Elder Mantis was, it wouldn’t be coming out of seclusion anytime soon.
Why?
Because the Soul Fury Forbidden Flame was meant to destroy the soul, while the orange Chaotic Nirvana Forbidden Flame was meant to amplify its power severalfold.
The Six-Tails Elder Mantis had grown arrogant by allowing the petals to explode right in its face. Now, it had taken all three attacks head-on, and even deep within the explosion, long before the shockwave reached them, Kaden could hear its agonizing screech echoing from the depths of its fractured soul.
