The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse Chapter 1663: Gorr, the God Butcher (2)
Previously on The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse...
Gorr stood calmly, his lower body wrapped in white cotton trousers and leather sandals. He had no cape behind him nor any baggy cloak hanging from his shoulders, as most with this style of attire do.
His upper body was exposed, with only a white cloth hanging diagonally from his left shoulder across his chest to his right lower abdomen.
He stood 6’8" tall, not that muscular, but with well-defined abs.
In his right hand rested the 2-meter-long Necrosword with a black, liquid-like blade and a hilt made of the finest leather. Looking at the sword, Klaus could tell it could morph into any shape. Right now, it was an imposing Odachi.
Gorr seemed to have undergone some changes in appearance, making him look like a man in his late 30s with above-average handsomeness. However, while he was good-looking now, he still had no hair.
His baldness, perhaps, was genetic, one that even the Star Monarch blood could not fix. But he was now a Supreme King with the power to slay Celestials.
"I wonder, should we still call you the God Butcher, or Celestial Butcher?" Klaus asked, flashing a mischievous smile at Gorr, whose every color around him was being devoured.
He smiled at Klaus’s question and answered:
"The God Butcher is kind of my trademark, so I will stick with that. However, my hunt will now revolve around Celestials and Pseudo-Primordials. I can’t lower myself too much, you see."
Klaus laughed, and so did the rest of his pals from the Primordial Era.
"Good to see you again, Gordon," Akutaq, the talkative one, said, reaching for a handshake. He was there when Klaus created the Necrosword and handed it over to Gordon, Gorr’s past self.
"Glad to be back, Lord Magnus," Gorr replied...
"I go by Akutaq now. Magnus was my past life, and since I have a new life now, it was only right to bear a different name and write a different history."
Gorr just smiled and nodded. Then he turned and nodded toward Yaxche and Matthew, whom he knew as well.
After everyone exchanged pleasantries, Klaus took over to address them and reveal why he had brought them all together.
"It is good to have you all back. However, while it would be nice to go on a vacation and catch up, I am afraid this universe is in grave danger." His words made everyone pay much closer attention.
Klaus sighed and then chose to reveal what he had been hiding for a while now. The people gathered here would one day be the vanguard against whatever was coming, so making them aware early seemed to be the most logical decision.
"I have recently received an invitation from one of the Heavenly Dao, who showed me three universe-destroying invasions that would, if not handled properly, swallow the universe whole.
The first is the invasion of the Void Beasts. Now, I would like to stress the fact that what is coming is hundreds of times worse than what we experienced during the Primordial Era."
Akutaq and everyone else sucked in a cold breath upon hearing what Klaus said.
They had fought in the Grim Void War and had witnessed firsthand how close the universe came to death. Had Matthew not made the ultimate sacrifice by using his life as a shield to seal the Void Gate, terrible things would have happened to everyone.
So they understood the danger...
"I suppose after billions of years, they have also grown stronger," Gorr muttered, and Klaus nodded.
"That is true. They have become stronger and more motivated. They will probably come within the next 1,000 years, perhaps much earlier, considering Axarax is now here, and he is the one who last opened the door for them.
However, while the Void Beasts are a threat, we currently have a much deadlier one here with us, and that threat is the Foreign Race. They are dangerous, and while so far they haven’t invaded much of our world, I have reason to believe Axarax’s arrival will escalate things.
So there is a greater chance that the Foreign Race will invade before the Void Beasts do, or perhaps both will invade at the same time.
Naturally, we cannot allow that to happen. If both races attack, I can tell you with certainty that we will lose miserably. Even now, with you all back and my Beast Legion growing, we cannot take on either of them."
Everyone sighed...
"But we can try, and you all will help me. We must bring the universe together, since that is the only way to move forward as a collective and defend it.
But before any of this happens, we first have to show the Foreign Race what we are made of, and so everyone gathered here, my parents, some of my wives, and Asmodeus will soon be heading to the Ancient Battlefield.
We cannot allow the Foreign Race to advance any further, so we must become the wall that will hold them in place."
"Rest assured, Klaus, we will not disappoint," Danny said, already pumped to axe some demons and beasts.
Klaus smiled and nodded. "I know you won’t, buddy. After all, we are going there with more than enough firepower. We will make them experience fear for the first time ever. But we will also bring hope to the universe, since by accomplishing something many thought impossible, we will show that the universe isn’t as weak as it may seem."
They nodded, and Klaus revealed the third thing...
"Now, while I am not entirely sure just yet, there is a third invasion that will come from one of the Doomsday Lords. I have yet to confirm the key details of that one, but know that when they come, the Void Beasts and the Foreign Race will seem like child’s play.
But we will be ready for them because, as far as I am concerned, the Foreign Race and the Void Beasts are stepping stones for us."
"Well said, Paragon," Akutaq said, giving Klaus a thumbs-up. The latter smiled, and then he shook his head.
"Then there is the last thing, which for now I can only reveal as the Great Catastrophe. I don’t know if it will be another invasion or a trial. But I know this universe has already failed three times, and I have no intention of letting it fail a fourth."
"For sure. However dreadful it may be, we will rise to the occasion. So for now, we can only prepare adequately for whatever comes our way," Mark said with a determined look on his face.
His brother Matthew patted him on the shoulder. "Well said, Mark. We will surely prevail regardless of what is thrown at us. So let’s first handle what we can and grow much stronger for whatever comes next."
Klaus nodded and started adding a few more statements to what he had already said. He knew that when the time came, he alone would not be enough.
He wasn’t planning on taking on everything by himself. His wives are there, and most importantly, his friends and legion would be there with him. For now, they can only continue to advance in strength and hopefully, become a force to be reckoned with soon.
But for now, he could only hope his friends grew rapidly because he had plans to find the remaining Light Stars and ascend to godhood as quickly as possible.
