The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse Chapter 1641: Mexican Standoff
Previously on The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse...
When the four Flame Spirits evolved into Primordial Flame Spirits, Rhazor had initially thought they were still at the stage where they could be referred to as "gods" since he himself is now a god
However, he soon realized that all four of them had long surpassed even the Celestial stage. The Flame Dao Crystal that they had consumed wasn’t that simple, it turned out. It contained far more than Klaus had initially realized.
However, he also understood that although all four Primordial Flame Spirits were indeed powerful, they still depended on him to exist.
As such, he had to become stronger at a much faster rate for them to unleash even more of their true power.
Unfortunately for him, only one of his bodies had attained godhood. However, he had other bodies, and they could also support the four Primordial Flame Spirits.
So, the moment he realized the Primordial before him could attack him since the Heavens were on his side, he immediately called the four troublemakers over.
Void released the overwhelming aura of the [Void Incineration Forbidden Flame], causing everyone gathered there to sense an unimaginably destructive presence emanating from her body.
Nirvana also ignited her [Chaotic Nirvana Forbidden Flame], and the air around her felt as though it were on the verge of collapsing.
Qilin, who looked like a Playboy troublemaker despite being the quietest among them, narrowed his eyes at the Primordial, and the poor bastard immediately sensed a terrifying force capable of destroying anything it touched.
His nature as the [Primordial Desolation Forbidden Flame] had now leaned even further toward absolute destruction, making his very presence an embodiment of devastation and nothing else.
Lastly, Fury radiated a soul-destroying presence, his gaze fixed upon the masked man’s soul as though he intended to devour it whole.
For a moment, it felt like a Mexican standoff, one where Rhazor and his four Primordial Flame Spirits stood against a Primordial who had the Heavens on his side.
It was well known that Primordials could not fight within the universe itself. They could only battle inside the Void. Therefore, despite the many Primordials present, Klaus and his incarnation didn’t seem particularly tense.
The moment either side attacked, the Heavens would retaliate, and both parties would perish. However, therein lay the problem. The Heavens were on the side of this Primordial.
In other words, offending them carried unimaginable danger.
But Rhazor wasn’t afraid.
He could escape whenever he wished. With his Blood & Flame Dao, teleporting using the Paragon Mark was as effortless as a single thought, regardless of how much killing intent had been locked onto his body.
Just as the standoff reached its peak, the woman who had spoken with Uncle Monk earlier suddenly broke the silence, shattering the tense atmosphere and sending shockwaves through the crowd.
"These... these are Forbidden Flames. You are the Paragon."
Her words drew countless eyes back and forth between Klaus and Rhazor. However, despite both of them being extraordinarily handsome, nothing about their appearances suggested they were the same person.
Moreover, only a few days ago, the Paragon publicly exposed the Celestial Supreme and revealed him to be Klaus Hanson, the man formerly known as the Renegade Hunter.
Surely... Klaus wouldn’t have lied to the entire universe, would he?
Rhazor turned and looked at the woman for a few seconds before smiling.
"Very perceptive of you, my lady. But before I answer your question, how did you know these are Forbidden Flames?"
"Because I have seen them before—not in humanoid form, but as flames wielded by the Eighth Paragon. I was only a Demigod back then, but I have never forgotten the day I witnessed the Forbidden Flames in battle."
A faint smile appeared on her lips as she slowly stepped forward.
"If I am not mistaken, the white-haired handsome one is the Soul Fury Forbidden Flame. The orange-haired beauty is the Chaotic Nirvana Forbidden Flame. The fiery redhead is the Void Incineration Forbidden Flame, and the playboy is the Primordial Desolation Forbidden Flame."
The four Primordial Flame Spirits narrowed their eyes at the lady, who raised both hands and laughed.
"Relax, guys. I am harmless."
"Harmless? You look even more terrifying than this loser," Void said, pointing at the Primordial from the Heaven’s Court.
"Void is right. Aside from this Grandpa Monk, you’re the most dangerous person here."
Uncle Monk smiled, while Stark, who stood to the side, also shook his head. He had arrived three days ago, yet even he had failed to discern the woman’s true strength until this very moment, when she stepped forward and released a fraction of her aura.
"Thanks for the compliment, guys, but I really am harmless. In fact, I owe you a great debt for saving my life during the Elemental Era. Had it not been for you coming to my planet’s aid back then, I would have died alongside billions of others.
"So tell me, young man, are you the Paragon, or is he?" she asked, pointing at Klaus, who sat comfortably upon his Blood Throne with his right fist supporting his chin.
"We both are."
"Huh? I thought there could only be one Paragon in every era," she said, her face filled with confusion.
However, Rhazor merely laughed before replying, "That used to be the case until recently. You see, the danger that is coming requires every Paragon who has ever walked the face of this universe to stand together. So yes, I am a Paragon, but I am only one of many."
"That is..."
"...confusing," Klaus chimed in with a smile. "I felt the same way when I first encountered the beings that want this universe erased. But now, I’m also one of those people who no longer make sense. All you need to know is that I am the Paragon, and I’m not hiding anymore, especially not from the Heaven’s Court.
"The dangers surrounding this universe are far too great to waste time worrying about a bunch of losers who can’t even devise a plan without dragging those closest to them into the mess."
"This is mind-bending," the woman admitted before smiling warmly. "Even better. Since you are here now, I would like to repay the debt I owe you. So, what do you want?"
Although he had yet to recall the part of his memory where this lady came in, Klaus smiled before turning his gaze toward the Pseudo-Primordial from the Heaven’s Court.
"I want this sucker dead."
In the very next second, the Pseudo-Primordial lost his balance. The last thing he saw was two paper-thin blades protruding from his chest.
His body was hurled backward, and before it could hit the ground, Asmodeus caught it effortlessly and stored it away.
"Debt repaid in full, Paragon."
"Indeed, my lady. But before you leave, I would like to invite you to an event that I will be hosting one year from now in the Dark Space. It will be a gathering to address the universe’s leaders and powerhouses about what is coming and how best we can prepare for it."
Klaus spoke with a smile, making sure to rope this terrifying monster in before she disappeared back into the Primordial Chaos.
"I will come," she replied before vanishing from sight, leaving everyone present in a state of utter shock.
Uncle Monk shook his head before looking at Rhazor.
"Paragon, if you don’t mind, I would like to invite you to the Elven Empire for a talk. I believe you already know why I wish to speak with you."
Rhazor smiled and nodded.
"Very well, old man. We can leave once I’m done dealing with this punk."
Rhazor turned toward the Primordial and summoned his sword. However, before he and his Primordial Flame Spirits could make a move, the Primordial merely scoffed and vanished into thin air.
"There won’t be a next time, brat." his warning voice resounded across the moon...
"Ah, he ran. What a loser," Void said, sounding thoroughly disappointed.
