The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse Chapter 1529: An Angry Paragon (1)
Previously on The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse...
The Heavens Executioners formed an elite cadre within the formidable Heavens Legion. Their missions, shrouded in secrecy, largely focused on neutralizing individuals posing a threat to the Heavens Court. This elite unit had previously clashed with the Paragon and his companions, resulting in casualties. Their very existence seemed dedicated to tormenting the Paragon, ensuring he suffered the loss of loved ones across his many lifetimes.
Their objective today was singular: to eliminate the Paragon upon his arrival to rescue his parents. They had been lying in wait for this very moment.
What they had not anticipated was the reappearance of the Two Calamities, who had been absent from public view for an extended period. This unexpected turn of events compelled the Executioners to reveal their presence.
"Calamities, you would be wise to retreat. On our last encounter, we eliminated the Phoenix Calamity. I distinctly recall my spear piercing her chest, extinguishing her pathetic existence," proclaimed the 90th Heavens Executioner, his face alight with a cruel joy that seemed unfazed by the deaths of his colleagues. "If you do not depart now, I shall inflict the same fate upon you."
The 94th Heavens Executioner chimed in with a grin, "I too remember that day. Her desperate cries, the sheer helplessness she displayed… I wonder where the two of you were when your sister met her end?"
"Likely hiding, like the cowards they are," sneered the 98th Heavens Executioner, adding to the taunts.
All ten Executioners erupted in mocking laughter, their derisive peals echoing through the vast emptiness.
Dragon Calamity Ignitia burned with rage, but Qilin Calamity Aleera restrained her. Aleera surveyed the ten Heavens Executioners, a smirk gracing her lips. "I had heard whispers that the Heavens Executioners were on par with the Asura Royal Guards. However, witnessing your idiocy firsthand, I must question if the entirety of the Heavens Court comprises mere simpletons or absolute fools."
For someone generally considered the most tranquil of the three Universe Calamities, Aleera possessed a remarkable talent for delivering insults.
Far away on Planet Caelmir, Nari chuckled, anticipating the trouble the Ten Heavens Executioners had invited. The sight of her sisters' return filled her with immense happiness.
Qilin Calamity Aleera's smirk widened. "I concede that the massacre on Planet BlueCrest remains a stain upon our reputation. Yet, I find solace in knowing the innocents lost will be reincarnated, a consequence of my Master's foresight. In truth, while you fools believe you achieved victory by slaying us, you inadvertently set in motion the very events leading to this day."
She paused, releasing Ignitia's shoulder, and stepped forward. "Indeed, by eliminating the warriors serving my Master, you inadvertently aided in their protection. For how could you possibly recognize them after reincarnation, knowing who they once were?"
Her smile grew as she lifted a finger. "But we could." With a snap of her finger, thousands of portals materialized. From them emerged formidable beasts of myriad forms and sizes, some radiating the power of Celestials.
Eyes widened, and gasps rippled through the space as familiar visages began to emerge. From one portal, Panther Goddess Bast materialized, her expression glacial. The sheer aura she exuded struck terror even into the hearts of gods.
From another, a Supreme wielding a trident appeared, a faint smile on his lips. Within the Beast Universe, he was known as Arthur, or, as many affectionately called him, Aquaguy.
Through yet another portal, a Nine-Headed Serpent Celestial emerged, its hiss echoing as virulent poison dripped from its form. The Heavens Executioners trembled with fury upon seeing it. During the conflict on Planet BlueCrest, this serpent had single-handedly slain five Heavens Executioners and poisoned over ten more before its eventual demise.
Their animosity towards this monstrous being matched that of the Paragon, as he was the only other individual in recorded history to have vanquished Heavens Executioners.
The 95th Heaven’s Executioner quivered so intensely that he impulsively took flight, weapons ready. However, his advance was abruptly halted when a sudden blur streaked past him. Before the eyes of the entire universe, his armor, down to his undergarments, was stripped away, leaving him utterly exposed.
A considerable distance away, a slender man with dark hair and a faint mustache ceased his movement and ignited the garments he had removed. Many onlookers gasped at his appearance.
This individual was universally recognized as Runner, one of the swiftest Supremes in the cosmos. Though he possessed no formidable combat prowess, his speed was unparalleled, surpassing even that of a Celestial.
The Heavens Executioner was left in a state of profound humiliation, standing naked before all to witness his disrobed form. He vanished into the void, his enraged roar echoing in his wake.
In mere moments, thousands had assembled on Hunter’s side, each an individual of immense power. Qilin Calamity Aleera smiled serenely. "As you can see, the millions you annihilated that day did not truly perish. They merely entered a slumber, and for the past few millennia, we two have been diligently seeking them out after their awakening."
The Dragon Calamity, Ignitia, made her entrance. "You pathetic individuals detested my Master solely due to his extraordinary capacity to usher others into the cycle of reincarnation. Rather than forging an alliance with him, you orchestrated his downfall and branded him as malevolent.
Now, as you can plainly observe, he has once again demonstrated his unparalleled skill in bringing the impossible to fruition." Extending her delicate hand, a formidable greatsword materialized within its grasp.
"My Master is the sort of person who consistently strives to shield the innocent from all conceivable perils. In the past, he readily placed his own existence on the line simply to ensure you ungrateful pests could enjoy a tranquil existence.
That was the nature of my Master, not myself. As for me, I harbor no reservations about dispatching everyone present. Therefore, this is how events shall unfold: you vanquonished rabble will advance, thereby furnishing me with the justification to unleash my fury and slay to my heart's content." she declared.
Her potent aura erupted, instilling trepidation in numerous onlookers.
The Qilin Calamity, Aleera, offered a smile, yet simultaneously manifested her twin crescent blades and radiated her own formidable aura. On one flank, a blazing lightning flame ignited, while on the opposite side, an intensely cold, abyssal ice manifested.
Just as the palpable tension reached its apex, a surge of corrupted Necrotic Qi emanated from a newly opened portal, resembling the gaping maw of an ancient fiend.
From its depths, a sinister chuckle echoed, causing every individual present, friend and foe alike, to feel an unnerving shiver course through their bodies...
"Kekekekekekeke... I never fathomed that such a day would ever dawn." Asmodeus emerged, his skeletal staff dripping with potent Necrotic Qi.
Many recognized him from the illicit recordings disseminated from the Jade Nest. Upon this realization, they understood that the true paragon had finally made his appearance.
Asmodeus surveyed the unfolding tableau for a brief interval before commencing his address.
"Across numerous lifetimes, he has borne a multitude of appellations. Some proclaimed him the Divine Archer, while others revered him as the King of Death. Many more hailed him as the Asura God, and a select few lauded him as the Renegade Monk.
I myself christened him the Vampire Monarch, and I am certain that the majority among you knew him as the Star Monarch. However, all these designations become insignificant when his singular, true name is uttered.
Esteemed ladies and gentlemen, before we collectively raise our implements of war and commence our mutual annihilation, permit me the honor of introducing the most comely, the most indomitable, and the most overwhelmingly powerful being in existence: the Paragon of the Nine Stars." he proclaimed.
A figure veiled in shadow, enthroned upon the Sword of Death and the Skull of Defiance that ominously hovered behind him, materialized through the shimmering portal. His legs were crossed, and his chin rested upon his right fist, which was casually placed on the armrest of his spectral throne.
Lady Elysia, witnessing this spectacle, could only resort to a facepalm...
