The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse Chapter 1477: Time Law
Previously on The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse...
The universe's fundamental principles function unlike the typical cultivation and martial arts. These latter two evolve in tandem with a warrior's escalating might and rank. The greater their strength, the more formidable the techniques become. Cultivating the laws, however, follows a distinct path. Rather than augmenting power with advancement, it hinges on comprehension and insight. It flourishes solely as one's grasp of a specific law deepens. Without this understanding, the laws remain inert, irrespective of the number of affinities one possesses. Nevertheless, should one delve profoundly into the laws, a persistent question arises: "Do individuals spontaneously manifest skills and techniques derived from the law, or must they acquire them from pre-existing forms?" For as long as memory serves, abilities such as spatial sealing, time looping, and others have been readily available, learnable provided one's comprehension reaches a sufficient threshold. These are commonplace for all Law cultivators. Some also ponder the possibility of individuals awakening unique law skills. The answer is indeed affirmative. However, prior to achieving this, one's comprehension level must attain at least the Super stage. A select few prodigies manage to awaken skills even at the medium stage—Klaus stands as an example of such exceptional talent. Yet, he transcends this extraordinary level. Klaus is a prodigy among prodigies. Within the domain of law skills, he has manifested specialized abilities known as Domain skills. These skills possess the capacity to influence reality, much like certain formations and treasures. Consider the skill [Heaven's Engine], which he awakened upon comprehending the law of gravity to a high affinity level. This ability comprises three tiers, each escalating the gravitational force exerted on a target manifold. This time, however, he has awakened yet another skill, and it is equally perilous. In truth, transitioning from the Early stage to Immortal King allowed him to awaken several such abilities. Yet, in this current existence, he can only wield these two. Thus, just as [Heaven's Engine] held the avian creature immobilized, he struck with both hands, his scythe and sword moving with lethal swiftness to secure the initial victory. "Oh, you don't," Klaus observed as the bird prepared to enfold itself with its wings, prompting him to execute another maneuver. "Chrono Transformative Disc." One of the hands hovering behind him activated, manifesting a disc-shaped artifact radiating a verdant aura. For a fleeting instant, time seemed to decelerate. But this effect was ephemeral, as the moment the disc materialized, Klaus had already unleashed a decisive strike. The attacks directed at the bird were propelled forward, or rather, accelerated, impacting the creature before its wings could provide cover. SCREEEEECH A piercing screech erupted, accompanied by a terrifying aura emanating from its form. The scythe gashed a substantial wound on its right flank, while the sword inflicted a rather profound cut. "There's more where that came from." Klaus grinned, and the hand wielding the Chrono Transformative Disc engaged a mechanism, causing a cerulean circle to emerge and begin to orbit it. The bird moved, its beak aimed directly at Klaus's chest. However, it never managed to complete its assault, as Klaus opted to employ a unconventional tactic. "Time Isolation." For a brief duration, he detached himself from the flow of time, allowing the bird's attack to miss its mark. Yet, the confrontation was far from over; Klaus was determined to achieve victory and thus initiated a third move. The two hands wielding weapons attacked once more, and this time, he resolved to prevent the bird from even perceiving his approach. Furthermore, he had absolutely no intention of squandering his Time essence on this particular foe. Precisely as the weapons commenced their arc, Klaus made his decisive action. "Time Skip." He propelled himself one second into the future, enabling him to bypass its defenses. Once again, the attacks found their mark on its body, and this time, the agonizing sounds emanating from its maw were utterly overwhelming. It was compelled to crash to the ground, and for a moment, it struggled to regain its footing. It remained under the oppressive influence of Heaven's Engine, a factor that, combined with the four severe injuries it sustained, rendered standing a difficult endeavor. Rory seized the opportune moment, preparing to unleash a devastating arrow, when Klaus gestured for her to desist. "Huh, why did you stop me?" she inquired, her expression darkened. Recalling the agonizing impacts she herself had endured, the denial of an opportunity to land a crippling arrow ignited a spark of anger within her. "Because no matter what you do, we will never win," Klaus stated with a smile, turning his gaze towards the bird. A few seconds later, he pivoted and looked to his left, nodding slightly. "Isn't that right, my lady?" For a moment, the situation remained perplexing. Then, the void fractured, and a demigod-like avian being materialized. It possessed a humanoid torso, but certain features, such as its eyes and feet, were distinctly birdlike. Its wings were also prominent. The instant it appeared, the bird on the ground dematerialized, and an unfathomable aura enveloped all present. It advanced closer, and with each step it took, the atmospheric pressure intensified, compelling Klaus and his companions to brace themselves.
At some point, Klaus repositioned the Heaven’s Engine directly above his companions, utilizing the law of gravity to mitigate some of the immense pressure they were enduring, allowing them to withstand the remainder.
As she covered a distance of 20 meters, she halted, her gaze fixed solely on Klaus.
"How did you manage to locate me?"
"It was quite straightforward, really. Upon striking your clone, I detected a subtle disturbance within the void. Naturally, for someone with my inherent affinity for the void, such a fluctuation would not go unnoticed."
"I see. I suppose you might prove to be a useful instrument," she declared, turning her attention to Rory and the others. "You will suffice as my sustenance."
A wan smile graced Klaus's lips. He slipped one hand into his pocket, extending the other towards the bird-woman. "I believe there's been a misunderstanding on your part. You see, I possess an offer that is simply irresistible. In fact, after you hear what I have to say, you'll be compelled to kneel and implore me to accept you as my subordinate."
"Oh? Is that so?"
Klaus offered a nod. "Indeed."
"Very well. Proceed. Enlighten me on what you have in mind that would necessitate my submission to you."
"I trust you wouldn't object if I moved a bit closer. What I am about to reveal is a secret."
The bird-woman scrutinized him for a few moments before nodding. "Why not? If I were to become apprehensive of an existence as negligible as yours, I would indeed become a laughingstock."
Klaus grinned and advanced, drawing nearer to the bird-woman, much to the consternation of his teammates and the Jade Princess.
Upon reaching her, he moved to her side, leaned in, and uttered the crucial words…
He had barely finished speaking when the bird-woman's eyes widened dramatically, her entire body trembling. "Impossible," she gasped.
"Ah, I highly doubt that, my lady," Klaus replied with a smile, pricking his finger. A single drop of golden blood materialized, releasing a delectable aroma into the air that drew the bird-woman's attention closer to the blood.
Klaus swiftly wiped the blood away and retreated, a smug expression spreading across his face. "Do you believe me now, or shall I provide further evidence?"
For a brief interval, Rory and the others were bewildered by the unfolding events. However, their astonishment soon manifested as widened eyes and gaping mouths.
Under their dumbfounded observation, the bird-woman sank to her knees, bowing deeply before Klaus.
"I pay my respects to the Beast Monarch."
