The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse Chapter 1449 1449: Heaven Defying Body Refinement
Previously on The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse...
The realm into which Klaus and his companions materialized lay barren and desolate. The atmosphere hung thin and sparse, while the sky appeared shattered, as if the void had gaped open for countless millennia.
Nothing but scattered rocks and shattered mountain remnants filled the view. Not a single blade of grass sprouted anywhere nearby.
"What is this place?" Nari wondered aloud, soaring upward to get a better look at the world's layout.
"It was my god world I created when I reached Godhood," King Alric answered, lagging behind the group as he walked.
Hearing that, Klaus spun around to face Queen Leah and his grandma. "Do you also have god worlds?"
Goddess Nivara gave a nod. "I do. However, I didn't place mine in the physical plane like this. It stayed in the spirit plane. But now, without access to my god core, I can't enter it."
"I am yet to form one since I am only a True God. I can start forming it when I reach the God King stage."
Klaus nodded, fully satisfied with their replies—particularly his grandma's.
His scheme for dealing with his grandma's assailant hinged on her link to her god core. Yet, with her revelation of possessing a god world, matters looked even more promising.
"But why did you abandon it, father-in-law?" Queenie inquired, her curiosity piqued. Crafting a world like this was no trivial feat. Many hailed it as a monumental accomplishment, so why forsake it?
It defied all logic...
"It was because the heavens were using my god world to cap me at the Supreme stage." Klaus arched his brow, caught off guard by the explanation.
"What do you mean, old man?"
"I only found out when I reached the Universal God stage. I didnt at first, but as I grew stronger and more connected to my god core, I realized the heavens, despite the claims that they had no hold over a world created by a cultivator, had their hooks buried deep in my godworld and were slowly and silently channeling my divinity.
It was something I never saw coming, but I am glad I did. Afterwards, I cut my connection to it and ventured into the forbidden universe, where I created a new god world and later refined it into a Supreme world before finally making it into a Celestial world.
Later, when I returned, I reclaimed this world but chose not to improve it since it had no use for me. Thankfully, an abandoned world is of no use to the heavens, so you can cultivate here in peace.
While they wouldn't sense you easily here, with me around, I can hold them off long enough to handle whatever you have to, should the need arise."
Klaus nodded and drew his grandma aside. "You all can wait here."
They traveled roughly 200 meters before stopping. Klaus took out the Heart of Tempest Vine and Heaven Forging Liquid.
"I will first consume these two, so give me a few hours," Klaus told his grandma before gulping down the Heaven Forging Liquid.
Immediately, a warm feeling coursed through his frame. Soon, his body began to heat up intensely. The discomfort mounted, forcing pained groans from him several times.
The forging process saw his body tempered by the Heaven Forging Liquid.
When he first refined his body, his blood, meridians, and bones—all of it—got rebuilt, granting him a physique capable one day of withstanding heavenly laws' assaults.
Yet, that physique wasn't robust enough to challenge the heavens directly. It might be the heaven-defying body, but it lacked the strength to confront them at that level.
Now, through forging, his flesh, bones, and meridians underwent tempering, evolving into organs fit to battle the heavens.
An hour passed, and the burning eased. By then, Klaus sensed his Criminal body—perched on a distant planet beyond his grasp—edging toward the Real Immortal stage.
He had arrived at the threshold where suppressing his cultivation grew impossible.
Of course, with his plans, Klaus could shatter into the Real Immortal stage right away. But staying there would summon heavenly tribulation.
Klaus wanted no part of that yet, aiming to stack it up once more. Years back, after ascending realms via the Inheritance Tower without tribulation, he learned something key.
When tribulation finally struck, the heavens lavished him with greater rewards than anticipated. He craved that boon again, this time building it across multiple bodies.
Talk about courting death. Klaus had perfected the art and even surpassed it.
Klaus had no choice but to summon him nearby, leaving a mark for later teleportation back.
Thus, under the group's astonished stares, another striking redhead materialized and settled not far from Klaus and his grandma.
His wives knew him instantly, as did Queen Leah and Lista, who had caught wind of a notorious redhead stirring chaos in the criminal underworld.
They wouldn't have known without Supreme Elder Juo's reports. So they identified him. Moments after his arrival, everyone detected the Real Immortal aura radiating from him.
By then, Klaus prepared to devour the Heart of Tempest Vine.
He popped it into his mouth and began chewing.
This time, his power surged markedly. Where the Heaven Forging Liquid had tempered his body, the Heart of Tempest Vine now maximized it, tapping every fiber.
Three hours in, his body hit its zenith.
Suddenly, the messages popped up.
<You have successfully completed the second stage of body refinement for your Heaven-defying Body - Body of Celestial Tempering.>
<You now have the body of an Immortal Emperor.>
<Because of your strong foundation, you can level up nonstop until you reach the peak of the Immortal Emperor stage. To break through that, refine the third stage: Body of Divine Flow.>
Klaus sensed his body brim with such might that channeling energy across all three bodies unleashed boundless power through his meridians, eager to erupt.
His criminal body had already stepped into Real Immortal. Internally, he knew the current version dwarfed the one from hours prior in lethality.
'With the god cores still inside my core and Grandma's blood essence, I must push hard to elevate at least one body to Immortal Emperor,'
The thrill brought a grin to his face.
Noticing, his grandma smiled too. "Did something good happen?" she asked.
Klaus nodded. "Something good did happen, Grandma. I am now thousands of times stronger than I used to be,"
"That is great. It will put me at peace knowing when you are out there, you will be able to protect yourself."
Klaus nodded.
He now wielded the strength to safeguard himself.
The Underworld Slaughter Tournament would feature Immortal Lord contenders, so hitting Immortal Emperor beforehand meant no fretting over clashes with them.
Minutes later, Icon signaled that the other two bodies stood ready. Thanks to finishing the second body refinement, their creation wrapped up quicker than foreseen.
