The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse Chapter 1419: Supreme Bodyguard
Previously on The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse...
A surge of excitement washed over Blue when he realized their upcoming objective involved pillaging Heaven’s Court. The last time they infiltrated Heaven’s Garden alongside Rhazor, they managed to secure a collection of the realm’s most formidable herbs and rare artifacts.
The sheer volume of their thievery triggered a pursuit so relentless that Heaven’s Court deployed almost every resource at their disposal, leaving Blue and Rhazor on the brink of death multiple times. It was only through Rhazor’s peerless skills as an assassin that they were able to slip through countless ambushes with their lives.
Learning that they would repeat such a daring feat—this time targeting the Heavens Vault—left Blue wearing a wide, beaming smile. "We are going to have a blast!" he cheered, clearly overjoyed.
Klaus simply shook his head in silence. He found it absurd that an authentic Supreme could be so remarkably aimless. Most masters at the Supreme level would spend their time refining their path to Cultivation or searching for a breakthrough to become a Celestial, yet Blue lacked any shred of ambition.
Klaus knew his friend was notoriously lethargic when it came to the rigors of Cultivation or exploring unknown realms. Even before his fifth reincarnation cycle, Blue had only managed to reach the status of an Early God.
Becoming a Supreme years later was nothing short of miraculous, yet his total lack of drive remained a mystery to Klaus. Ultimately, Blue found his only true joy in swindling others out of their hard-earned riches.
"What is your plan for the road ahead?" Klaus inquired, attempting to gauge his companion's future intentions.
"I do not have a set destination. Why don't I just serve as your bodyguard for the time being?"
"A Supreme bodyguard?" Klaus narrowed his eyes. "Are you so utterly useless that protecting an Early-stage Immortal is the only way you can find meaning in life?"
"Yes," Blue admitted without hesitation.
Given the constant hunters from Heaven’s Court, lying low for a while was exactly what he needed, and offering his services to Klaus seemed like the perfect cover.
"The problem is, Heaven’s Court knows about your association with the Paragon. If you are spotted by my side, they will inevitably assume that I am the Paragon," Klaus sighed. "I am already on thin ice because Supreme Elder Juo has marked me as a target. If I appear in public with a Supreme who was once a confidant of the Paragon, they will hunt me down with everything they have. I cannot permit that. My current mission far outweighs your need for entertainment, so you must find something else to occupy your time. I will not have your presence unraveling everything I am working to establish."
"Ouch, you could be a bit gentler with your words! Why be so cold the moment we reunite?" Blue laughed, though he understood the logic readily enough. His proximity to someone already suspected of being the Paragon would trigger too many alarm bells. While being forced to distance himself hurt, he would always prioritize the safety of his brother.
"Fine, but I intend to stay at least until this tournament concludes. I can feel the presence of powerful figures waiting for you to finish your match so they can strike. I will eliminate them myself once the tournament ends. I prefer not to tip off their handlers prematurely."
"That is sound reasoning. I will leave it to you, then."
Blue was delighted by his agreement. After billions of years, he had finally reconnected with his closest brother, even if only for a few fleeting days. Klaus knew that once the time was right, they would have plenty of opportunities to spend together.
Once his other persona—the one fated to be the Paragon—fully reveals himself, they would be free to roam together, perhaps even pulling off a few more legendary scams.
After their conversation, Klaus drifted into sleep. The following day marked his third bout in the Blood Tournament, unaware that hidden forces were already plotting his downfall. These conspirators hailed from the Warrior Tower, brandishing an offer so seductive that even Lord Varkos found his resolve wavering.

Following the explosive message that rippled throughout the underworld, the Warrior Tower was left seething after their planted spies were exposed as frauds. In just one day, 120 high-level agents had their identities blown, and over 40 were already dead, sparking immense fury—a fury entirely directed at Klaus.
While they couldn't confirm if he was the direct author of the leaks, his words had clearly ignited a massive revolt within the shadows of the criminal underworld. Desperate to stop him before he caused further chaos, they dispatched a lethal executioner.
Upon arriving, the executioner bypassed a direct attack, choosing instead to approach the one individual with enough power to influence the Blood Tournament’s structure.
"Match him against Kael Ignivar, and consider the rest handled. As a gesture of our gratitude, we offer 10 billion Heaven Crystals for your cooperation. What say you? Will you stand with Heaven’s Court and gain the favor of a Supreme, or will you obstruct us and meet the fate of a lowly thug?" the Immortal Emperor proposed, holding out his hand.
Lord Varkos maintained a composed facade, but fury boiled within his chest. A man of immense pride and ambition, he had built his organization with dreams of reaching the summit of power. His chance had finally arrived, as his syndicate was tapped for the major leagues, and Klaus had proven his worth as a champion repeatedly.
Yet, he was trapped by a cruel dilemma: sacrifice Klaus to curry favor with a Supreme, or oppose the power of Heaven’s Court and face certain destruction before his grand plans could even bear fruit.
Taking a deep, steadying breath, Varkos clasped the Emperor’s hand.
The Immortal Emperor offered a thin smile, transferred the massive bounty, and departed. Lord Varkos was left alone with his mounting guilt.
"I don't owe him anything. His life or death is none of my concern," he remarked coldly. He immediately summoned a subordinate and issued a directive: "Ensure that Blood Sword and Kael Ignivar are paired in the next round."
The subordinate looked confused, but simply bowed and exited the room. Lord Varkos sighed, unaware that every syllable of their clandestine meeting had been intercepted and stored by a meddlesome system dedicated to shielding its master at all costs.
Within a few days, the underworld would be brought to its knees by the revelation of Lord Varkos’s treachery. But before the news could break, the syndicate head would meet his end at the hands of a new, unpredictable variable—a presence destined to shatter the universal status quo.
The next morning, Klaus entered the arena unaccosted. No assassins had dared to strike during the night, so he faced nothing but a swarm of reporters clamoring for an exclusive comment.
Finding them tiresome, he ignored their questions entirely. Minutes later, the brackets for the next 16 bouts were finalized, and just as the system had predicted, his name was pinned against Kael Ignivar.
