The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse Chapter 1418: Sour News

Klaus was genuinely surprised to see an old companion resurface during such tumultuous times.
Blue had not only returned but had also successfully retained his memories from his 5th incarnation. To Klaus, this was a massive advantage. Yet, judging by the subtle smirk on Blue’s face, there was surely more to the story.
Considering Blue had reached the Supreme stage, it was evident he sought assistance with a particular matter.
"You certainly didn't waste time trying to verify if I am truly the Paragon. Why don't you reveal the actual reason for your visit?"
Klaus had established a system so that his most trusted allies could easily track him through his various incarnations. He possessed enough influence to orchestrate the trajectory of their lives whenever they intersected with his own.
Blue was one of his memory keepers, like Pickle Berry, so finding him so early in this lifetime was not entirely unexpected.
Blue studied Klaus for a long moment before releasing a weary breath. "The Moon Sisters have vanished."
"What?" Klaus shifted restlessly in his seat.
Years ago, back when he and Blue traversed the universe swindling those with deep pockets, they had encountered the Moon Sisters. The duo hailed from an incredibly influential and affluent lineage.
They spent two decades running a elaborate con against them. When the heist concluded and they escaped, they assumed that was the end. Yet, two years later, the Moon Sisters tracked down Rhazor.
They had intended to slay him, but instead, they ended up in his bed.
Rhazor was one of the most notorious players of that age. His bedroom prowess was legendary; once they tasted the forbidden fruit, they decided to stay by his side.
Eventually, they parted ways so the sisters could return to their families before suspicions arose. The last time he encountered them, their kin were attempting to use them as bait to lure him out after he was named the Paragon.
He rescued them and ensured their safety before departing. When they last separated, they were True Gods, and after eons, they had ascended to the Supreme rank.
They had even played a role in helping Blue attain his own Supreme status. To learn they were missing was completely incomprehensible to him.
"To be completely honest, most of the women you consorted with in the past have gone missing. Three billion years ago, the Moon Sisters approached me for help stealing an artifact from a Supreme of the Heaven’s Court.
The mission was a success, and that was the last I saw of them. About 300,000 years ago, I intercepted an SOS from the Ring District. By the time I arrived, only a ruined battlefield remained.
I scoured the area, but there was no trace of them. It is as if they were entirely erased from the universe."
"That is strange..." Klaus murmured. "Who else besides them has disappeared?"
"I initially heard it from the Moon Sisters, but it seems the Elven Princess and her mother are also gone. Additionally, the General from the Heaven’s Court and the Priestess from the Divine Church have vanished.
I am unsure how they became aware of their connections to you, but there is clearly someone tracking them."
"Have you bothered to ask those ancient relics in the Moon Palace if they possess any information?"
"Hardly. We both know they would turn me to dust the moment I appeared. Regardless, I discovered 100,000 years ago that they had also been hunting for those two troublemakers.
Honestly, I suspect someone from your past that you never mentioned has returned to enact their vengeance."
Klaus dismissed the idea with a shake of his head. "I find that unlikely. The majority of my foes are deceased, and those still living would never lower themselves to kidnapping my old flames just to reach me.
Not to sound arrogant, but all my enemies are honorable enough that they wouldn't stoop to such tactics to settle a score with me."
"There is always a first time for everything. As far as I am aware, a Supreme is currently holding a grudge against a mere Early Immortal."
"That pathetic coward is simply shameless," Klaus remarked with a smirk, fully cognizant of Supreme Elder Juo’s machinations. For now, that wretch could only rely on mercenaries to target him.
He dared not make a direct move himself.
"Still, why would anyone target them? It makes no sense," Klaus mused, scratching his head before turning to Blue. "After I left, what action did the Heaven’s Court take?"
"Nothing drastic. They merely gathered a few of your allies and positioned them on the planets you used to frequent. They tracked down a few acquaintances, but most vanished long before they could reach them.
The only ones they caught were the Dolby family. They are pacifists, so after a bit of brainwashing, they were left alone.
Beyond that, the rest are either in deep hiding or have cultivated enough power that the Heaven’s Court thinks twice before provoking them.
Also, the Healer we encountered during our time in the Heavens Garden reached out to me 300 years ago. Apparently, she has been appointed as a personal physician to someone titled the 3rd Heaven’s Daughter.
She still reminisces about you, so she left a message for me to relay upon your return."
Klaus chuckled, slightly amused to hear that one of his past flames still kept him in her thoughts. "What was the message?"
"She stated she remains ready to bear your child, so you should seek her out upon your return."
He laughed. "Do you know where she was taken?"
"No. However, the last I checked, that 3rd Heaven’s Daughter is a True Immortal and a rising star within the Heavens Academies. Perhaps we can orchestrate some cons and see about securing you an enrollment."
"I have already secured my admission, buddy."
"Oh? So you were running a con after all? I want in."
"Not possible, brother. This particular scheme must be handled by me alone. Your presence would only complicate the variables."
"How dull," Blue smirked, though he recognized that a con is doomed if the plan is altered mid-stream. A perfected scheme is set in stone; it cannot be modified once set in motion. Either you abandon it and start over, or you cease entirely.
Klaus had been the one to teach him this, so he respected the boundary. He refrained from asking for details, knowing that in a con, the fewer participants, the higher the likelihood of success.
"So what is the plan now? I have no purpose, so put me to work, or I shall perish from sheer boredom."
"I have nothing for you at the moment, brother. The con I am executing demands my absolute focus. However, there is a potential project I have begun mapping out.
It will take time to mature, but when the day comes, it will be prepared. You will have to be patient."
Blue offered a small smile. "Don't leave me hanging. Give me a hint. Knowing you, you already have 90% of the plan finalized."
Klaus exhaled slowly, leaning back. The knowledge that his past lovers had vanished weighed heavily on him. Yet, he understood that his current level of cultivation was insufficient to intervene.
He needed to ascend to a peak where even a Supreme would tremble at his name. For now, his priority remained constant improvement.
"Fine. This scheme involves the Heaven’s Court." He paused, staring out the window. "You recall that blade they claimed to have discovered in the Doom Universe? It turns out it was an artifact I forged during the Primordial Era. I intend to reclaim it, and I am going to pilfer it right from under their noses."
