Jian Anning awakens to an argument between Yu Zexiao and his grandmother, Xia Ziyu. Xia Ziyu questions Jian Anning's refusal to marry and have children despite five years together, while Yu Zexiao defends Jian Anning's past sacrifices and loyalty. He proposes IVF and admits his own intimacy issues, stating he cannot be with anyone but her. Jian Anning, overhearing the argument, collapses after pleading with Xia Ziyu.

"Anning! Anning!" Yu Zexiao cried out in alarm, recalling her recent days of feeling perpetually dizzy and unwell. She had been unable to stomach any food, repulsed by the smell of anything greasy, surviving only on plain porridge. He had also been hoping for a swift pregnancy and had refrained from administering any special medication, which likely contributed to her slow recovery.

As she lost consciousness, the family members instantly converged around her, uttering, "Anning, are you alright?"

Without a word, he whisked her away to the hospital. Beside him, even Xia Ziyu, perhaps genuinely frightened by Anning's sudden collapse, refrained from any unpleasant remarks. Instead, Yu Shenglin let out a frown and chided her, "You know she's been battling a cold these days, and yet you still spoke to her so harshly!"

"How was I supposed to know her health was so delicate? As if she's crafted from fragile paper, fainting before she could even finish her sentence! Honestly, is she the one with the weak constitution, or am I?" Xia Ziyu retorted indignantly. Despite her protest, a flicker of guilt surfaced within her, and she trailed behind them all the way to the hospital. Watching Anning being rushed into the ER, she inquired, "How is she doing?"

Yu Zexiao simply shook his head, his gaze fixed intently on the scene within. After a moment, he addressed the elders, "Grandma, as I've already stated, I intend to marry her in the future. Regarding the child, we are planning to consider IVF. Please, let us not dwell on these matters any longer. Furthermore, my intention is to wed Anning once her health has fully recuperated."

Xia Ziyu's earlier argument with him had, in fact, stirred a collective memory of the most precarious period five years prior. There was no need to mention Shen Lanxiao; neither Yu Jingxi nor Yu Shenglin were individuals to easily forget acts of kindness. After all, Jian Anning was not incapable of bearing children; IVF was merely a method. As long as it was a descendant of the Yu Family, the means of conception held no consequence.

"Very well!" Yu Shenglin declared. As the patriarch of the Yu Family, while Xia Ziyu often had much to say, when it came to significant decisions, the ultimate authority and final word rested with him.

"Enough chatter. Let's cease this discussion." Yu Shenglin cast a glance at his grandson. This particular grandson, who had once been so boisterous and arrogant, lacking any semblance of steadiness, had recently begun to exhibit the commendable qualities of maturity and resolve befitting a man.

Within the Yu Family's lineage, they were not to be people who disregarded favors or acted unrighteously. Provided the young lady proved herself to be virtuous and compliant in the future, and their grandson genuinely desired it, there was naturally little else to contest.

"Have you truly given this matter thorough consideration? Do you aspire to marry her? Are you prepared to embrace the responsibilities and obligations inherent in being a husband and a father?"

"Yes, I have arrived at this conclusion a long time ago." Yu Zexiao affirmed with a nod. The truth was, he had been ready five years prior, but an unexpected intervention by Situ Xuan at the final moment had postponed this crucial decision by half a decade.

"Excellent." Yu Shenglin nodded his approval. "Then, the decision is mine to make: you may proceed with the marriage."

"Old man!" Xia Ziyu exclaimed, utterly taken aback, and immediately interjected.

"Grandfather, you approve?"

"He is already in his thirties; is it not preposterous that he cannot make his own marital decisions?" Yu Shenglin's voice, though calm, carried an unmistakable and unyielding authority. "Moreover, you are aware that the young lady is indeed well-behaved and proper. The matter of the child is for you two to decide; she is not yet considered of advanced maternal age before thirty-five, so there is no need for undue haste. Simply remain attentive and do not cause your grandmother and parents any unnecessary worry!"

"Understood!" Yu Zexiao's face radiated with uncontainable joy. As he spoke, a doctor emerged from the examination room. Yu Zexiao immediately approached, inquiring, "Doctor, how is she doing?"

The doctor cast a glance at the assembled group, then shook his head, responding, "There's no point asking me. I am not an obstetrician!"
