The Invincible Full-Moon System Chapter 1987: Leaving Victoriously
Previously on The Invincible Full-Moon System...
It is decided—the Purgation Duel between High Lord Rashal and High Lord Ursa is going to be held in three days’ time in this newly created realm. Four warriors against seven warriors. Death is the only winning condition. And the reward for the victor is a big chunk of the loser’s territory.
Everyone who was present would be allowed to watch when the duel started.
As long as they abide by the rules, they were allowed to watch.
Even as the Cluster Custodian teleported them back to the ballroom, the entire hall was silent.
Only a few people weren’t aware, but the banquet was a purely social gathering.
It was meant only to humiliate High Lord Rashal by showing him how isolated he was among the High Lords. But the young genius managed to turn the banquet around and forced High Lord Ursa into a fight that couldn’t be avoided.
He managed to turn the tables and forced High Lord Ursa into his kind of game.
He turned a disaster into an opportunity to make a comeback.
Considering how much he would gain from winning the Purgation Duel, his power would swell past its limit and allow him to put pressure on most of the High Lords who had sided away from him. Now— the mess between High Lord Ursa and High Lord Rashal would impact most of the High Lords.
High Lord Rashal’s victory would mean a bad time for all of them.
And the worst part? None of the High Lords could do anything to guarantee High Lord Ursa’s victory.
It was the rules stated by the Cluster Custodian that chained them down from doing anything.
As a military hero, a fight is exactly what High Lord Rashal was good at.
And now, High Lord Ursa and the other High Lords were trapped in a game that he was good at.
Nobody expected the night to turn out like this.
Even some people from High Lord Rasha’s side, like Henry, were completely blindsided by this situation.
But then again, this was far better than an inevitable doom.
"Now we need a meeting place—so that I don’t need to pick you up one by one," the Cluster Custodian looked around the ballroom, shifted back to High Lord Ursa, and smiled. He swirled his finger around to encompass the pocket dimension. "Let’s use your home as a gathering point. You don’t mind, right?"
"I don’t mind."
"Good, then we’re done here. We’ll meet again in three days at the exact same time. Until then, goodbye."
Not even wasting a second, the Cluster Custodian walked over to the door.
High Lord Ursa exchanged a look with High Lord Rashal, then stepped forward.
"What about his evaluation? Aren’t you going to evaluate his work overseeing the Cavity?"
"Right..."
Slowly, the Cluster Custodian turned around and walked back.
He then paused midway and raised his index finger.
"The Purgation Duel overruled everything. Until it’s completed—all things related to both sides would need to wait. And High Lord Ursa, that’s strike one. Do not tell me how to do my task. You really don’t want me on your bad side."
"Yes, esteemed Cluster Custodian. I apologize."
"Great, then stay safe all of you. Hail the Overseer of Realms!"
Swish—!
In an instant, the Cluster Custodian sank to the ground and exited the pocket dimension.
And alongside his presence was the heavy weight that had pressed down on them.
Everyone could breathe easily again.
"This is the reason why you are not fit to become a High Lord," High Lord Ursa’s voice broke the loud silence that had seized the ballroom. He stared at High Lord Rashal—with a burning gaze. "You people only know how to settle things with your fists. No class at all. Instead of convincing these gentlemen through the proper way, you chose to do this instead.
"Instead of swimming in our own pool and winning fairly, you chose to do this."
"Ah, the hypocrite finally crumbled under the pressure." High Lord Rashal smirked.
He took three steps forward without breaking eye contact.
"In case your old mind had already forgotten, I did play fairly. I did win the Cavity—without underhanded tactics. Just pure determination and hard work. But your fragile ego was bruised and couldn’t, with good conscience, accept a defeat against me.
"Now, I won again. And you still have the audacity to complain about swimming in a pool—where you already prepared traps beforehand? Is this what you mean by class? Perhaps the only one here who does not have class is you, High Lord Ursa."
High Lord Ursa’s face turned red from anger and embarrassment.
He pointed a finger at High Lord Rashal.
"How dare you speak to me like that brat?! I was already here even before you were born, you plebian scum!"
"Are you angry? Are you going to attack me? Go ahead."
High Lord Rashal stepped even closer. He ate the distance between them until they were merely a few steps away. Then, he leaned his face closer and turned, pointing at his cheek. "Go ahead. Attack me. Let your anger out if you really want to."
No attack came. No punches came.
All High Lord Ursa could do was stand in his spot, brooding in his anger.
Fighting even before the Purgation Duel would immediately disqualify him from it and give the win to High Lord Rashal, and that can’t happen. Despite the blood-boiling taunt, despite his desire to tear High Lord Rashal to pieces, he couldn’t do anything.
"I don’t think so." High Lord Rashal smirked and then pointed at his own face. "You’re starting to look a bit desperate, High Lord Ursa. Considering your experiences, you should’ve had a thick face. Does the thought of fighting me scare you that much?"
He didn’t wait for High Lord Ursa to answer.
Elegantly, he turned to face the other High Lords who were still rooted in their spots.
Still uncertain about what to do next.
"The same goes for all of you."
High Lord Rashal’s voice was loud, imperious, like a King who was disappointed by his vassals.
Some even flinched at his words.
"You banded together to go against me—when I have done nothing to deserve this hostility. You banded together because of your fear for one old man. Shame on you. Shame on all of you for going against a new High Lord who never did anything to provoke you."
As his voice echoed throughout the ballroom, the silence became even more deafening.
Even their usual hypocrisy couldn’t help them spin this around.
Not when the truth was so blatantly right in front of their faces.
Because of High Lord Ursa alone, they decided to go against High Lord Rashal to save themselves.
Such a thing shoved onto their faces made them embarrassed.
"All of you have shown your true faces, and that’s not good." High Lord Rashal paused, meeting every gaze that dared to meet his, and then spun to face the other side of the ballroom. "But despite my young age, I am a big-hearted person. I can still forgive and forget.
"Choose wisely, dear High Lords. Mercy will soon be out of your hands."
High Lord Rashal cast one last smile and walked toward the exit under the heavy gazes.
His back was straight and his hair flutters magnificently.
High Lord Rashal stepped into the ballroom like a cornered mouse, but he came out as a triumphant eagle after a successful hunt.
It was simply unbelievable.
"Let’s go." He moved past the table without a backward glance. "I don’t want to breathe this foul air any longer."
Naturally, wanting to avoid being stuck in an awkward position—the people who came with High Lord Rashal quickly rushed out. Vadyn cast a condescending sneer at the crowd of High Lords and then went ahead toward the exit.
Some of the business partners bowed politely before rushing out.
As for Rex, he didn’t care about the drama.
High Lord Rashal was simply weakening High Lord Ursa’s grip on the other High Lords, as this moment was perfect to do that. The uncertainty of not knowing who’d win would make sure to leave High Lord Ursa in a shaky position.
If Rex was in High Lord Rashal’s shoes, he would probably do the same thing.
Just that, he wouldn’t spare them no matter how much they begged later.
His eyes were fixated on Diamantona.
A devious smirk tugged at his lips. He turned on his heel and strode toward the exit, Davina and Lilliana flanking him like shadows. Recently, he was determined to move even faster in order to wreck Kaiser’s celestial throne, and this fruitful encounter with Diamantona had been exactly what he needed.
Fuel for the fire.
Now, Rex only needed to make sure that he would win.
Outside the main building, a satisfying spectacle greeted them.
Henry was standing right in front of the lead guard who barred them earlier, and his eyes were flickering with malice. The kind that none had seen from him. "I’ll remember what you did. I’ll remember that a mere guard like you forced us to walk through the servant’s door."
He stabbed a finger into the lead guard’s chest. "Once this is all over—Once your High Lord is no more. Best believe that there will be consequences. Best believe that the very first thing I would do is to come after you."
Despite his neutral expression, there was a bead of cold sweat forming.
And the lead guard swallowed discreetly, but that nervous cue didn’t escape the gaze.
"You wait for my footsteps. I’ll make sure to step loudly when your time is up."
Henry bumped his shoulder hard against the lead guard’s side, knocking him sideways roughly.
He then descended down the staircase, catching up to High Lord Rashal and Vadyn.
Behind, the business partners who were also humiliated sneered at the lead guard as they descended.
"I had assumed the assistant was some manner of automaton all this time. Like a robot." Lilliana lifted a hand to her lips. A soft chuckle escaped—as she watched Henry confront the lead guard. "Unbothered and stoic all the time. It seems I was mistaken."
"Heh." Rex scoffed at what she said.
Everyone has their own level of patience.
Henry was trained to control his emotions, but it didn’t mean he was emotionless.
He could be easily triggered by things involving High Lord Rashal, especially disrespect.
Rex didn’t know for certain what Henry’s background was, but considering his discipline, there’s a high probability that Henry is a war-buddy of High Lord Rashal. Someone who had gone through war with High Lord Rashal.
That kind of loyalty he was showing is abnormal for simple work partners.
Just then, he paused and glanced at Lilliana.
"Since when did you know about robots? There’s no robot in the Spirit Realm."
"I saw one in the mall. I can’t believe something could move on its own without using energy."
Davina also nodded on the side excitedly.
"I’m also surprised to see it for the first time. I even heard from the clerk—that the robots can be custom-made to look like anything. Even people!"
"Really? I didn’t know that."
"Yes, all you need is a photo, and it can be done."
"How creative. If only the Black Rift didn’t exist, then the Spirit Realm might advance, too."
Rex, listening to their banter, was completely at a loss for words.
He couldn’t believe what he was hearing.
"What the heck are those rich kids teaching you?!"
Moments later.
The convoy arrived back at the main office building near midnight. The street was empty—and so was the office, as the workers had already returned home. High Lord Rashal even said to Henry that for the next couple of days, there would be no work.
Rex, Davina, and Lilliana went to sit on the lounge.
And it had been fifteen minutes since they were sitting there, drinking wine.
"What are we waiting for again?" Davina asked.
"We’re waiting for..." Rex saw the executive lift door open, and Henry came out with a box. "That."
