Guarani was brutally killed by Rex, who then devoured his heart. Mayla screamed in anguish as Farhan, realizing Rex had tricked him with an illusion, attacked. Rex, protected by his Laws and Perfect Beast Spirit Genesis, easily blocked Farhan's desperate assault. Rex revealed he knew their capabilities and deemed the battle decided from the start. As Farhan unleashed Ice Knights and Mayla created stone clones, Rex gleefully entered the fray, cutting through them with ease and eventually severing Mayla's arm with a devastating punch.

It streaked close in the blink of an eye.

Mayla kept summoning statue clones to overwhelm Rex as she now knew his weakness: that he couldn’t sense immortal energy. With enough statue clones, she believed he would undoubtedly fall. With enough distractions, one of them should be able to land a decisive blow.

Naturally, her focus was solely fixated on Rex.

And she could see and sense energy charging rapidly on Rex’s dominant arm.

But the moment the beam was fired, it blitzed Mayla’s perception entirely.

She couldn’t react to it.

Instead—she felt an excruciating pain that hammered her right side and the realization that her arm was blown off by the beam. Mayla’s eyes widened in shock, and her teeth ground together to endure the pain that assaulted her.

’Just who is he?!’ Her inner voice screamed inside the chamber of her mind. ’He’s not quite as strong as High Millinar Alexander, and based on the divinity he was emanating, he’s around our level. And yet we stood no chance? It’s like he’s invincible against those with similar strength to him.’

For them to lose this badly was abnormal.

Rex only has similar strength to them, but the sheer variety of his power makes him incredibly strong.

Not to mention, he seemed to have two Laws in his arsenal.

Perhaps more. Who knows?

But as she blinked and her eyes dilated to focus on Rex again, she saw the skin of the arm he used to fire this crimson streak rupture and splash with blood. ’He’s tearing the dimensional fabric of this dimension by using that attack, and he’s not strong enough to overpower it completely.’

Rex might’ve devoured the innate law of the pocket dimension, giving him partial authority.

Yet it didn’t mean he could easily tear the dimensional fabric.

It would need the unanimous consent of all temporary rulers, which he didn’t have. Naturally, the pocket dimension lashed out at him violently. The backlash was devastating: the skin along his entire dominant arm ruptured, bursting open in a spray of blood, and the recoil even pushed him back hard.

And even so, this painful backlash did nothing to his unhinged will.

Mayla watched as Rex’s lips curled even higher, smiling even wider, laughing even harder.

As if the pain he felt did nothing but make him even more excited.

He’s feral and completely unhinged.

And worse, his aura only grew sharper and sharper. His body is the engine, and pain is the fuel.

In a battle scenario, he’s completely unstoppable.

"Look out, Mayla! I’m going to send two more!" Rex laughed harder; his salivating tongue was out in the open as if he wanted to lick his own blood that was sprayed all over. "This is getting really fun—so don’t cut my fun short, okay? Don’t die on me!"

Boom—!

Boom—!

Rex flooded both hands with kingly energy and unleashed two more Brutal Impulses. His fists traded off in rapid succession. Twin lightning-fast streaks of crimson tore through the air, screaming like bullets that came from a sniper rifle.

Knowing what to expect, Mayla already had two statue clones in front of her to absorb the attacks.

She hid behind them, taking cover from the lethal streaks.

Both were made more detailed as she tried making them more durable.

But the moment the crimson streaks connected, the statue clones’ bodies shattered into pebbles.

And the force carried by the crimson pushed her back.

Mayla fell, and her back slammed against the hard, flowery plain.

Rex laughed manically—like a madman who finally stepped back into society after years of being trapped in an asylum—as more blood forced its way out from his arms. The pain was exquisite. It really made him feel more awake. Alive.

His regeneration surged, sealing the wounds in a heartbeat, and he threw himself back into the fray.

Sensing Mayla’s peril, more Ice Knights crashed against him.

Rex could not see them or sense them properly because they were entirely summoned through the use of immortal energy, but the System fed him their positions in a stream of cold data. He could see floating stat windows closing in around him.

A dozen Ice Knights attacked him mercilessly in three seconds.

He tore through ten of them. Claws ripping torsos. Fists shattering frozen skulls.

But two slipped through.

A blade punched into his stomach, and another hacked deep into his shoulder.

<Stiffness has taken effect!>

<Paralysis has taken effect!>

<Mind-freeze has taken effect!>

A flood of notifications drowned his vision as all kinds of debilitating effects rushed into his body.

Ice flooded his bloodstream, spreading through veins and capillaries, paralyzing him—from the inside out. Rex channeled his energy to burn it back, forcing warmth into the frozen rivers of his bloodstream, but the ground underneath him already shook.

Across from him, it cracked and split open.

A massive sword of ice rose from the crack, ten stories high.

Its sharp edge caught the crimson moonlight.

Farhan floated beside it, still in his icy form, looking down at the paralyzed Rex with unbridled anger.

He raised his arm and then brought it down as a signal—the massive ice sword fell.

"Cursed monster! Try blocking this! Inner Soul of Ice, Cayrovain!"

Swoosh—!

Everything inside the pocket dimension shook—as the massive ice sword descended. Its massive body was so big that it made Rex look like an insect. And the impact that detonated once it landed was apocalyptic.

A thunderous crash split the air, and a hailstorm erupted across the pocket dimension.

Shards of ice and frozen wind scoured the plain, changing the terrain.

And when the storm cleared, Rex stood beneath the frozen black, arms crossed above him, and golden exoskeleton flaring. At the part where the golden exoskeleton met the frozen ice, it cracked, which was a display of how powerful the attack was.

Even the sharp edge of the blade got through and bit into his forearms.

But he had stopped it.

Giving no time for him to catch his breath, the Ice Knights and Stone Clones were already on him.

Swarming him from all sides—blades and slaws slashing in a relentless barrage while Rex tucked his head down to avoid having his head sliced off. Each cut opened his flesh, and the pain was unimaginable for most people.

Rex was different.

For him, the cuts felt like a gentle stroke from the hand of the most beautiful woman.

It didn’t hurt him but pleased him instead.

Cuts opened across his back, his chest, his thighs, and yet his face didn’t twist in pain at all.

And each wound knitted shut before the next could land.

Another Awakened Demigod emerged from the vortex—a short man draped in a black combat suit and with an axe in each hand. He saw Rex being overwhelmed and quickly rushed in, sprinting with all his might and charging immortal energy into his hand.

Specifically, his palm.

’Farhan and Mayla wanted to kill him—but he’s too dangerous,’ He thought inwardly. ’Let’s probe his soul and leave. The directive from High Millinar Lagneas is to find out who he was and where he came from. Killing him is optional.’

No need for more of them to die on this fool’s errand.

It was clear that they weren’t ready to brawl against Rex, and they also really lacked information.

As much as he liked the idea of vengeance, there’s no need to force it right now.

Instead of striking with his axes, this Awakened Demigod struck Rex from behind with his palm.

Rex’s eyes turned white.

<Notice: the user is affected by Palm-strike Soul Search Technique!>

Forcefully, the Awakened Demigod split his immortal energy into even finer strands—and tapped into the place where souls resided. The Palm-strike Soul Search Technique would hurt the person’s soul, but right now, it doesn’t matter.

In fact, it’s a good thing that this technique hurts the soul.

He’s now the projection of his own soul—standing in a dark expanse, completely dark.

Around his glowing white body, there was a layer of immortal energy that acted as a barrier to protect him. The reason the Palm-strike Soul Search Technique hurts the target’s soul was because the caster’s enhanced soul needs to touch the target’s soul.

But he couldn’t find Rex’s soul anywhere.

"What is this place...? Did I make a mistake?" the Awakened Demigod thought aloud and looked around the dark expanse, searching for a glowing soul. Yet, there’s nothing. "No—I’ve mastered this technique a century ago. It’s impossible for me to make a mistake."

Just then, a crimson light bathed the dark expanse from above.

And alongside it came the overwhelming presence of something beyond comprehension.

He had sensed the sheer power of a God, yet this presence was far beyond that.

Slowly, the Awakened Demigod turned, glancing back over his shoulder. Above him, a brilliant crimson light blazed from a single distant point, swelling against the dark. Instinct drove his hand upward—shielding his eyes, squinting through the glare as the light grew too fierce to face.

It was hard to see, but he saw something.

Something that emanated this harsh red light.

As this object came into focus, his brows furrowed into a frown. "A throne...?"

Swoosh—!

Suddenly, the world flashed red.

Before the Awakened Demigod could register what was happening, the inch-thick barrier shielding his soul projection shattered. A soundless detonation that rippled through the core of his being. He recoiled back as if struck by an unseen fist.

But what surprised him was the pain that came right after.

Pain beyond comprehension flooded him—a mind-breaking agony. One that was caused by looking at the throne directly. Madness poured into the cracks of his psyche, which was the high price of that single, fatal glimpse of something he shouldn’t have seen.

And then, his eyes burst with blood.

It was almost as if staring at the throne was more taxing than staring straight at a God.

Back in reality, his physical body convulsed. He staggered away from Rex in utter shock, the agonizing pain stalking him back. The blood vessels in his eyes detonated in unison, turning his white sclera into an ocean of blood.

"RAAGHK!!"

The scream that tore from his throat was guttural and inhuman.

A sound that scraped from the very floor of his soul.

He dropped and rolled on the ground, digging his fingers into his skull, clawing at his own face, doing anything to make the agonizing pain stop. But no matter what he did, the pain didn’t ease. It was almost like his soul was burned by an eternal flame.

The Awakened Demigod’s thrashing hand found the axe he dropped.

Assuming that it was salvation, he grabbed the axe and swung it at his own head without hesitation.

His skull split open in a final, desperate act of mercy. The scream cut off, and his body dropped dead.

Farhan and Mayla watched another comrade of theirs die right in front of their eyes. They knew what he was trying to do, and frankly, they didn’t blame him, as killing Rex seemed implausible for the time being, as they severely lacked information.

Best for them to probe Rex’s soul.

Extract as many memories from his soul, and then flee to fight another day.

After all, High Millinar Lagneas only asked for information.

He didn’t require them to come back with Rex’s body; that was completely optional.

If Rex turns out to be too strong for them to handle, then they shouldn’t push their luck. Retreat.

But even that was the wrong move.

Despite being the most logical among all of them. Unaffected by the emotions that are running high, their comrade was struck with an unseen, excruciating pain that forced him to take the easy way out—by killing himself.

All of them are trained in the mind and body.

And yet, the pain still overwhelmed him.

Rex blinked his eyes and looked over his shoulder with a grin, "Shouldn’t have done that..."
