The Invincible Full-Moon System Chapter 1895: Stopping the Crimson Tide (1)
Previously on The Invincible Full-Moon System...
A million monsters from a higher plane commenced their charge in a stampede.
Adhara observed the scarlet wolves being repelled by the eruption of moonlight energy. As these monstrous beasts scrambled to regain their footing and recover, she recollected the numerous occasions she had nearly met her demise, only to be saved by Rex.
She had long felt insufficient, despite acknowledging her role as Female Alpha, and had strived with immense effort to become stronger.
But she felt inadequate to bear the weight of the responsibilities Rex had entrusted to her.
Inadequate in the sense that she could never attain enough strength to act as his substitute when he was absent.
However, the recent conflict had demonstrated her capability to become strong enough.
Adhara had joined the others in this region to dismantle the rebellious forces of the Scarlet Banes Kingdom. She battled werewolves. She fought the bastard progeny of the Origin. And she contended with ancient werewolves.
Against all expectations, she emerged victorious in every confrontation.
She had earned this newfound strength, enabling her to fulfill her duties without requiring substantial assistance from Rex.
Tonight, she had affirmed to everyone, and most crucially, to herself, that she was indeed adequate. More than capable of ascending to the position of Female Alpha. The trust and the boon Rex had bestowed upon her earlier, believing in her ability to hold her own and survive, represented the reward she had ardently desired all along.
Yet, with that earned validation, she now harbored a desire to cease hiding behind Rex’s formidable protection.
Adhara drew a deep breath, filling her lungs completely, and gently closed her eyes.
She marveled at the immense power that coursed through her at this very moment. It was the capability that Rex had granted her, leveling the playing field against these formidable Demigods. Every single strand of moonlight energy within the vicinity now yielded to her command.
It was astonishing how much Rex possessed, and presently, she felt as though she could reach and touch the very sky.
Swoosh—!
Adhara ascended into the sky, unleashing the potent aura of the Anti-Werewolf bloodline.
Beneath the ethereal silver fog that obscured the heavens from the Blood Moon's intense glare, she blazed like a frigid star. Even the Demigods faltered under that icy gaze, deemed unworthy. Creatures whose sole transgression was their mere existence within her sight.
According to the information deeply ingrained in her mind, the Echo of Night Spirits necessitated sacrifices.
Ordinarily, these sacrifices were to be conducted following the roar.
Yet, amidst the horde of crimson wolves, Adhara perceived swirling mists visible only to her. A silvery luminescence that seemed to beckon her attention. Her lips curved into a subtle smile. ‘Rex always thinks ahead. To realize the Demigods he annihilated weren't merely slain in a fit of rage, but were part of a calculated plan, is truly unbelievable.’
Earlier, when Rex had cleaved through space itself to reach the Mortal Realm, he had obliterated numerous Demigods with a single roar.
And that act was not solely a declaration to the Lunirich Gods; it served to empower this very skill.
Adhara willed the silvery wisps to approach.
Each fragment of the fallen Demigods' essence erupted with a brilliant silver beam, perceptible to all observers, ascending skyward like a guiding beacon. These beams pierced the silver fog, carving openings within its expanse, and shimmered in the celestial depths, eliciting low reverberations that rolled across the heavens like the prelude to a mighty downpour.
‘What is this…?’ the peculiar werewolf gazed towards the sky, a distinct frown etched upon its features. ‘It must be one of his abilities—the gathered moonlight energy surpasses her capacity to control. But how is she wielding it?’
With urgency, he pointed a digit at Adhara and bellowed, “Attack her!”
A solitary roar from Rex had previously annihilated countless Demigods as if they were mere trifles.
And this uncanny werewolf had no desire to comprehend the potential of this current ability.
Roar—!
Hundreds of peak ninth-rank crimson wolves surged towards the sky, their bodies pressed together so densely they resembled a terrifying crimson tidal wave. Their power intensified with each passing second as their forms rapidly adapted to the energy levels of the Mortal Realm.
Each of these wolves was already among the most formidable beings in this realm, possessing their current strength.
However, they were still undergoing further augmentation.
Blitz—!
Kaboom—!
As if from nowhere, a bolt of black lightning streaked across the heavens with unfathomable speed.
It intercepted the incoming tide of crimson wolves and erupted outwards, creating a nexus of crackling electrical energy. Bodies were flung in every direction—tumbling through the air like shattered debris. A few managed to recover with remarkable speed, only to find their limbs ensnared by the residual electricity snaking through their veins.
A colossal figure, seemingly sculpted from clouds, materialized overhead.
Clang—!
Devo brought his fists together with a resounding, thunderous clang.
Innumerable other crimson wolves attempted to assault him from above, but this action generated a shockwave of lightning that dispersed them all before they could reach him. Devo was not to be trifled with. And having been in Rex’s company for a considerable duration, his body had already adapted.
He was operating at his absolute peak.
“What are you all doing?!” The peculiar werewolf lowered its hind legs, preparing to pounce. “Attack!”
Swoosh—!
With a swift maneuver, I dodged and crashed into the formidable werewolf; what followed was sheer pandemonium as our combat devolved into hundreds of exchanges within mere seconds. Every impact between us unleashed ferocious shockwaves, fracturing the surrounding space as if it were brittle glass.
No matter what, Adhara must be halted, and my pursuit was unwavering.
However, the sheer numbers were not in our favor.
Myriad crimson wolves merged into a colossal mound, forming a towering pillar of their bodies.
Others scaled this gruesome edifice, their bloodlust-fueled gazes locked onto the airborne Adhara.
A shard of moonlight sliced through the heavens, settling behind Adhara. It was Amanir.
Spreading his wings wide, he pierced through the wolf pillar, forcing the crimson wolves to reform their ranks before he landed behind Adhara.
"Finished causing trouble for Rex in the Spirit Realm?" Adhara inquired, not bothering to turn.
"Devo stirred up the trouble, not me," Amanir retorted with a snort, disinclined to be associated with Devo's actions when he himself was blameless. He tilted his head skyward, observing the pearlescent fog, "What spell are you casting? And what is the estimated completion time?"
"It’s a summoning ritual, and I'm uncertain of the duration—but we must buy time," Adhara commented, looking down with a frown. The sheer quantity of crimson wolves was daunting. "I can alter the moonlight's essence to subdue them, but since they aren't werewolves, the suppression effect is diminished. Given their overwhelming numbers, holding them off for even a minute will be a struggle."
"Just proceed with it," Amanir grinned. "I shall provide the necessary moonlight energy."
Under the eerie glow of the Blood Moon, the ambient moonlight energy surged to an extraordinary level.
Yet, it wasn't solely the moonlight energy that was amplified.
Everything connected to the moon experienced a surge, and this included Lunar Mana.
Amanir flapped his ears, retreating a short distance.
He extended his mana sense, which unfurled for miles upon miles. Following the enhancement of his aptitude through the sacrifice of Emperor Dominar, he had channeled the amassed life energy into Devo's own reserves. Consequently, the life energy coursing through him was no longer measured in mere thousands of years.
It was now comparable, at the very least, to a decamillennium.
In comparison to his state before venturing into the Spirit Realm, he was at least tenfold more potent.
Splash—!
Adhara raised her arms, shielding her face from a sudden gust of wind.
Or rather, what she perceived as wind was something else entirely.
It was Lunar Mana.
Glancing over her shoulder, Adhara was astonished to witness Amanir transforming into a miniature moon. Silvery mana swirled around his form, encapsulating him within a sphere as solid as stone. From this sphere, a thread, as thick as an arm, began to extend.
It reached out towards Adhara, and upon contact with her back, Adhara's eyes flared with intensified brilliance.
It was as if she had ignited from within.
An ceaseless torrent of energy flowed into her, instilling a newfound confidence in her ability to overwhelm the encroaching horde.
From the ground below, Princess Selene gazed upwards, observing Adhara’s radiant glow. Then, the atmosphere shifted palpably. A strange prickling sensation, sharp and unsettling, grazed her skin. Before she could ponder Adhara's intentions, an overwhelming force descended, pressing down upon her with immense pressure.
This wasn't merely a physical oppression; the very nature of the moonlight energy had undergone a transformation.
Princess Selene lifted her gaze and saw blood.
"It's the Anti-Werewolf bloodline..." she whispered in disbelief.
It transpired that Adhara possessed the uncanny ability to reshape the moonlight's essence through her bloodline power.
This revelation left Princess Selene in awe.
Only a select few Anti-Werewolves could achieve such a feat, and none could perform it on the colossal scale that Adhara was currently demonstrating. "But it's insufficient," Princess Selene remarked, glancing sideways. "Many are slipping through the gaps."
Adhara served as an effective diversion, splitting the horde's unified focus.
She sowed discord.
Numerous crimson wolves faltered and collided, their trajectories crossing, yet their objectives pulling them in opposing directions. One significant vulnerability of a massive horde was starkly revealed by Adhara's actions—but their sheer numbers remained an insurmountable obstacle.
Her efforts were potent, yet ultimately inadequate.
This was where Princess Selene's intervention became crucial.
"I will handle them," Princess Selene's King Mark pulsed with power, and she surged directly towards the breaches. "Sintra! Miriam!" she called out their names without looking back. "Follow me!"
Apart from intercepting the crimson wolves that managed to infiltrate the real world, Princess Selene and the two Shamans, being werewolves themselves, needed to maintain a significant distance from Adhara, given her manipulation of the ambient moonlight energy.
Princess Selene vaulted over the horde, unleashing kingly energy from her feet.
This powerful propulsion propelled her out of the pocket dimension.
Jaws snapped furiously at her heels as she navigated the sky, narrowly evading crimson wolves that leaped to impossible heights. If these beasts possessed intelligence, her situation would be dire. However, their attacks seemed purely driven by physical strength.
She twisted her body away from another set of snapping teeth and crossed her arms over her chest.
Her kingly energy surged through her limbs, encasing her claws in a shimmering coat of molten gold.
"Moon Ability, Honey Infestation Splash!"
Princess Selene spread her arms wide and spun, unleashing a barrage of golden droplets towards the attacking horde. A hundred such droplets were fired before she came to a halt, blasting herself sideways to avoid plunging directly into the mass of wolves. Every crimson wolf struck by the golden goo underwent a transformation: their eyes turned a uniform gold, and they immediately turned on their former companions, attacking those nearest to them.
"Adequate, but it fails to address the core issue."
The Honey Infestation Splash served only to impede the horde's advance. Its main body remained undeterred, continuing its relentless gallop forward.
Nothing could halt the horde's momentum—unless an obstacle was placed directly in their path. Princess Selene's eyes gleamed with a newfound resolve. She dropped to all fours, her limbs devouring the ground as she ran. She was the Honey Moon Princess, and aside from Rex, that magnificent outlier with no equal, no other royal werewolf alive could boast her speed.
She covered vast distances as if they were mere steps.
While this exceptional speed was an advantage for her, she also recognized the alarming pace of the crimson wolves. They were not slow creatures.
This meant the horde would soon reach numerous settlements along their route, leaving devastation in their wake. Not long ago, Princess Selene had led the kingdom's finest to confront the Clarentium Empire. Now, every single one of them was deceased.
Further losses would be catastrophic for the already depleted kingdom.
‘That Demigod commanded them to march directly towards the empire’s capital,’ Princess Selene mused, her gaze fixed on the horizon. ‘I don’t know its exact location, but I can track these crimson wolves. This is our territory, so there should be no remnants of the empire's forces remaining.’
‘This means I can only depend on our kingdom's strength. There are two Alpha Primes’ territories lying ahead.’
She significantly increased her pace.
At this juncture, she had left the sonic boom far behind her.
In less than a minute, she had not only overtaken the horde but continued her onward journey. Princess Selene had formulated a plan. Executing it would be challenging, but if successful, the horde's advance would be dramatically slowed. However, she desperately needed assistance to achieve this.
Aooouuu—!
