The Invincible Full-Moon System Chapter 1894: Female Alpha’s Stand
Previously on The Invincible Full-Moon System...
An oppressive silence descended upon the scene.
Following the devastating appearance of the Silverstar Pack Alpha, which resulted in the demise of a hundred Godlings, the area became still once more. The peculiar werewolf stood, his gaze fixed on the spot where he had materialized. 'It's no wonder the Gods struggle against him. He's full of unexpected moves.'
He was aware of the existing realm lock.
This was a barrier established by Meloriana, the Lunirich Goddess of the Honey Moon, designed to prevent any incursions from realms outside the Mortal Realm. Such an absolute decree could be enacted at the will of any deity governing a particular domain.
Yet, even this formidable barrier had failed to completely impede Rex's entry.
It became increasingly clear why the Lunirich Gods harbored such a strong desire to eliminate him.
'Divine Lord Kaiser didn't confront that mortal directly—he targeted his subordinates... Why?' the uncanny werewolf mused, finding the choice peculiar. 'Could that mortal have the backing of another deity? Is that the reason? Or did the Divine Lord attempt an attack and fail?'
'If that's the case, the objective behind eliminating his subordinates must be...' A cynical smile touched his lips. 'It's regrettable that those two managed to escape, but we still have sufficient leverage. Numerous individuals he cherishes remain within this realm, and they can be utilized.'
Having served the Divine Lord for countless millennia, he had gained a deep understanding of the grand plan.
And for the first time, he genuinely wished to witness its unfolding.
"Have you reached a decision?" the uncanny werewolf inquired, turning to face Princess Selene. He had presented her with a choice: abandon the Silverstar Pack and instead lead the werewolves into a new era. The time for a definitive answer had arrived. "Which path will you choose?"
Princess Selene's eyes intensified.
She had been consumed by indecision and hesitation throughout this entire ordeal.
Now, a defiant fire blazed within her gaze.
Princess Selene stepped aside. A King Mark began to materialize on her forehead – a sphere of honey-yellow light that radiated regal energy across her entire being. She moved to stand alongside Adhara, extending her claws, her choice made unequivocally clear without a single word uttered.
Witnessing this, Miriam also approached, positioning herself directly above the two, thereby declaring her allegiance to the Silverstar Pack as well.
"Where has your sense of shame vanished?" the uncanny werewolf demanded, gesturing towards the fractured heavens. High above, Meloriana, the very Goddess who had bestowed upon Selene the Honey Moon King Mark, watched with eyes burning with righteous fury. "Your Goddess observes from above, yet you possess the audacity to wield her gift against me? Against her express will?"
"Werewolves are not your playthings. We have earned this strength," Princess Selene retorted, baring her fangs. "It is our power, just as it is hers."
"Do you truly believe you stand a chance of victory?" he sneered. "Because of him? Because he annihilated a mere handful of our kin?"
"We do not need to defeat you outright," Adhara gasped, her body slowly mending from the numerous wounds sustained. She tilted her head back, a smirk playing on her lips. "My understanding of Gods and their workings is limited; it remains beyond my knowledge. However, I am well aware of the other Supernatural races... they too have their own associated Deities.
"I surmise that this current situation," Adhara gestured with her chin towards the sky, "will not persist indefinitely."
The uncanny werewolf's expression remained utterly unreadable.
Yet, the ensuing silence served as a potent indicator that Adhara's assertion held truth, or at the very least, was close to it.
During the Era of Might, the various Supernatural races began to manifest extraordinary magical abilities. The Undead wielded death energy, Vampires possessed death energy, and Demons commanded demonic energy. Given that the werewolves' moonlight energy originated from the Lunirich Gods, it was logical to assume that the powers of the other races stemmed from their respective patron deities.
It became evident to Adhara that this world was under the dominion of multiple divine beings.
Consequently, these other Gods would undoubtedly express displeasure at the Lunirich Gods' extensive interference within this realm.
It was possible that, at this very moment, the other Gods were unaware of the unfolding events.
However, Adhara questioned how long the Lunirich Gods could maintain such secrecy. Her gamble was that their time was rapidly running out.
Soon, the Lunirich Gods would be compelled to withdraw their influence from this world.
This meant that all Adhara and her allies needed to do was prolong the conflict until that inevitable withdrawal occurred.
After a lengthy, motionless pause, the uncanny werewolf observed Adhara, his eyes betraying no discernible emotion. Then, his gaze slowly drifted to the side, focusing on two entities that shimmered with pure lunar light and crackling lightning. They stood perfectly still, their patience akin to tempests contained within fragile glass.
They were poised to strike the moment he made a move.
A hundred Godlings had perished due to Rex's intervention, and now he found himself isolated.
He could summon the Divine Lord for assistance, but he was unwilling to do so.
'Are those two beings from the Spirit Realm? If so, they are the only significant obstacles.'
"And so, the pertinent question now becomes," he stated, his eyes returning to Adhara once he had finished assessing the situation, "can you hold out for that duration?"
With a wicked grin, the unsettling werewolf lifted his hand. A single, elongated claw detached and ascended, resembling a fang of crimson. It weaved through the air with unnerving speed and precision, as if guided by its own volition and a distinct purpose.
A hum of potent energy emanated from it before it plunged through the very fabric of the Mortal Realm’s dimensions.
Then, with a deliberate, sweeping motion, a slitted portal was torn open.
Crimson fluid dripped from the opening, cascading like a somber waterfall behind the eerie werewolf. His smirk widened as he directed his attention, and his claw, toward Adhara and the others. His gesture pointed directly at the dimensional barrier encapsulating them at the far end of the canyon.
"Children," he boomed, his voice carrying clearly. "Obliterate every place bearing their scent. Eliminate any who stand in your path. Let this Blood Hunting Carnival commence!"
Roar—!
Adhara’s gaze shot upward, towards the bleeding portal, her eyes widening in alarm at the guttural growls that erupted.
These were the sounds of beasts, responding to the uncanny werewolf’s command, their origins lying beyond the newly formed rift.
Instinctively, her eyes followed the immense slitted portal, stretching across nearly the entire span of the canyon—a mile, perhaps two. The thought of the countless monsters lurking behind it pouring forth into their world sent a shiver of dread down her spine. Such an influx would spell catastrophic trouble.
"Seal the portal!!"
Bam—!
In the blink of an eye, the uncanny werewolf lunged, his claws slashing through the air.
Princess Selene reacted with remarkable speed, positioning herself to intercept the ferocious strike.
Her arms were nearly severed by the force of the blow, yet she managed to block the attack. The sheer impact sent her hurtling backward, colliding with Adhara as they skidded across the ground with muffled cries. Meanwhile, Miriam gathered concentrated moonlight energy, coalescing it into a massive sphere within her hands.
Despite blood trickling from her nose, she hoisted the formidable sphere overhead.
"Moon Ability: Lunar Boom!"
With a powerful grunt, Miriam hurled the immense sphere.
The portal, having only just opened, still required time to fully stabilize. If she could somehow manipulate the space around it, the resulting distortion might shatter its momentary fragility, severing its connection to the other side and permanently sealing it.
Her attack was precisely engineered for this purpose.
However, she had failed to capitalize on that narrow window of opportunity.
Splash—!
A thunderous growl shook the air as a monstrous crimson wolf, its form massive and its fur the color of blood, burst from the portal. It intercepted the sphere mid-flight, swallowing it whole. The explosive force of the detonation erupted within its very jaws.
Yet, paradoxically, instead of being obliterated, the moonlight energy was absorbed by the beast.
It had consumed the light, growing exponentially stronger.
Attacks utilizing moonlight energy were utterly ineffective against these creatures.
Propelling itself forward with its hind legs, the crimson wolf slammed into Miriam, sending her tumbling from the sky.
Behind it, an endless stream of crimson wolves surged forth, inundating the entire canyon. Like a relentless crimson tide, they inhaled the air, imprinting the scent of their enemies into their minds before charging directly towards the werewolf’s indicated destination.
Adhara and Princess Selene regained their footing.
Both managed to rise to their knees, then to their feet, only to stumble as the ground beneath them trembled violently.
Startled, they both looked up at the approaching deluge. Such a vast horde should undoubtedly cause the earth to quake, but this tremor originated elsewhere. "Look!" Princess Selene exclaimed, pointing into the distance. Adhara followed her gaze. "It’s opened... This is truly dire."
Not far off, at the canyon's edge, the very space had split apart, forming a substantial gateway.
A passage through which the crimson wolves could pour and ravage their world.
"Let’s outrun them and warn the others to evacuate!" Princess Selene urged.
"No!" Adhara’s fierce cry pierced the air as she transformed back into her werewolf form, the brilliant aura of her Anti-Werewolf bloodline blazing intensely. "Didn't you hear his words?! They are heading for the capital! Dargena City! I must intercept them!"
She understood the gravity of the situation and the potential consequences of inaction.
At this critical juncture, Rex’s greatest desire for her was to flee, to preserve her own life.
Even earlier, when their eyes had met, she had pledged to survive and await his return, trusting him to quell this unfolding chaos. Adhara had no idea how he intended to accomplish this so swiftly, but one thing she owed Rex was her unwavering belief in him.
Belief that he would arrive in time.
Her life, she knew, was held in far higher regard by Rex than anything else.
Yet, she could not simply turn away now.
Fully aware of these entities' destructive intentions, she simply could not remain idle and cower like a coward.
"Dargena City... That is his dream. To forge a world of peace is his noble aspiration, and the city... It represents his personal milestone. He endured so much hardship to reach that point, so much suffering. I cannot allow it." Adhara clenched her fists tightly. "I refuse to let them destroy it. I will not permit its destruction."
No matter the cost, Adhara was determined to stand her ground. If it meant sacrificing her life, so be it. Destroying the city was one thing Adhara could stomach, but these monsters wouldn't stop there. Their intentions towards Calidora and the child she carried were despicable, and that was something Adhara absolutely could not accept. She harbored animosity towards Calidora, yet the child was undeniably Rex’s. Adhara vowed that nothing would harm it before it took its first breath and witnessed the world Rex had painstakingly built. She hoped that by the time the child arrived, a world of peace would already be established. "Are you out of your mind?!" Princess Selene cried out. "We can't possibly hold this position." "You may flee," Adhara stated, her body beginning to radiate immense moonlight energy as she slowly started to ascend. "I will not depart until I've made at least one attempt." Princess Selene was not wrong. Considering their combined strength, along with the remaining allies, repelling the crimson horde was an impossible feat, mere wishful thinking. However, Adhara now possessed a different kind of power, one granted to her by Rex. If anything, Rex's power had always been terrifyingly destructive. And after the enemies had witnessed its might earlier, this power was sure to instill deep fear within them. Adhara was uncertain of the exact outcome, but she understood how to unleash it. Taking a deep, full breath, Adhara channeled every iota of moonlight energy within her into her mouth. Her eyes blazed as she tilted her head back and unleashed a deafening roar. ROAR—! In an instant, the entire world fell silent. A shockwave surged outward—a growing circle of sheer force—and slammed into the advancing horde, sending every crimson wolf reeling backward, their charge utterly broken. The onlookers stood frozen, stunned that Adhara's roar had actually halted their advance. Although it was brief, the effect was astonishing. The formidable werewolf shielded himself from the shockwave with his own energy, his gaze lifting towards the hovering Female Alpha. His eyes narrowed, perceiving that the roar held far more power than initially apparent. As expected, something else transpired. He tilted his head further upward, observing a silvery mist that began to engulf the entirety of the canyon.
