Rex assimilates with the divine spirits Davina and Lilliana, significantly boosting his lightning and lunar elemental powers. As they prepare to navigate the God Realm, Rex secures new abilities and defensive protections, solidifying his readiness for the challenges ahead. With travel between realms restricted by higher authority, Rex tasks his scout, Nash, to seek out the local Cluster Custodian to gain the permissions necessary to track his targets and uncover the fate of his companions.

Rex surpassed the sisters in the speed at which he processed the Divine Protection vial.

His soul attained a newfound state of security, granting him the sort of second chance that provided genuine peace of mind. While he waited for Lilliana and Davina to complete their own absorption, he took a moment to observe his surroundings. As his gaze swept across the landscape, he was struck by an unnerving, absolute silence. Apart from the faint vibration of energy radiating from the sisters, there was a total absence of sound.

It was this profound stillness that drenched him in a cold sweat.

His thoughts drifted back to the appearance of that ominous entity.

Although Void had already vacated the scene when it manifested, and Morgana’s bloodline had severed all ties to the Dark Angels, it felt like an impossible coincidence that such a dangerous being would seize control of her form mere moments after Void vanished.

While Rex couldn’t be entirely certain, he felt a haunting link between the two occurrences.

This realization left him gripped by paranoia.

At least, that was the theory Rex preferred to settle on.

However, his recent journey into the Spirit Realm had provided him with a crucial lesson.

He might have navigated that realm with the aid of the System’s general knowledge, but he remained ignorant of its underlying laws. Just as Kaiser had concealed his ability to manipulate Rex via the Spirit Realm, Chaos was likely capable of performing the same feat through the God Realm.

Given that Chaos had shown a clear interest in him, he needed to exercise extreme caution.

It was safer for him to operate under the assumption that Chaos still possessed the reach to touch him, even here.

Incredibly absurd as it seemed while residing in the God Realm, he dared not assume otherwise.

Rex lacked the answers, yet he knew he needed to uncover them rapidly before disaster struck.

Shoving these concerns into the recesses of his mind, Rex focused his gaze onto a flower he had nearly crushed underfoot.

It was one of the blossoms being guarded by the Gardener.

...<Baby-blue Periwinkle>Grade: DivineDescription: A divine botanical specimen found only within restricted sections of the Primordial Meadow where the earth dips below the standard elevation. Upon reaching full maturity, it contains several pure divine strands and exerts a powerful, unnatural calming effect on the mind. Once harvested, it releases an intensely sweet aroma....

"Pure divine strands?" Rex narrowed his eyes. "The Silverstar Genesis could generate divine strands as well, though only in a far more diluted form."

With this reflection, he took another sweeping look at the meadow.

Suddenly, the landscape appeared with a level of clarity that had previously eluded him.

"There is no question about it," he whispered to himself, his mind racing to weave together the disparate threads of information he had recently acquired. "This Primordial Meadow serves as the domain for the Overseer of Realms, just as the Silverstar Genesis serves mine." A pause hung in the air as the pieces clicked into place. "Which means... Gods derive their power from the divine strands cultivated within their own personal realms."

Rex was well aware that every Lunirich God possessed a realm uniquely their own.

He had navigated the realm of the Blood Moon and the Yule Moon, while Kyran had ventured within the Ice and Snow Moon’s domain. Even Kei Xun held dominion over her own realm, a searing surface of a blue sun.

Since everyone held their own territory, there had to be a primary utility behind that fact.

Now, the truth was laid bare.

However, the revelation brought him no relief.

"If that is the reality, then doesn't it imply the power gap between myself and the Lunirich Gods is expanding every moment?" Rex tightened his fists, grinding his teeth until his gums seeped blood. "I must accelerate my growth at any cost."

Though he hungered to harvest every one of these Baby-blue Periwinkles, each one containing divine strands that would bolstered his divinity, he managed to restrain himself.

Regardless of his intense desire, he knew he couldn't act on it.

Moments later, Davina and Lilliana finished their digestion, and the trio resumed their journey forward.

Nash had marked their path by clawing signs into the bark of trees and the earth, serving as their only compass through the infinite expanse of the Primordial Meadow. Having received no report of failure, Rex and the others assumed the path ahead remained secure.

No news was equated with a lack of danger.

Likely, anyway.

Along the trail, they encountered an increasing number of Gardeners.

They shared a common aesthetic: hulking physiques, steel javelins gripped firmly in their hands, and masks that concealed everything but their lower faces. Beyond this uniformity, their bodies revealed diverse origins. Some bore the traits of beasts, with fur or sharp claws, while others were distinctly male or female humans.

Yet, they were all marked by a commonality of scars.

"Is this really for me?" Lilliana asked, suppressing a smile as a Gardener approached to offer her a blossom.

It was not a Baby-blue Periwinkle nor a corrupted specimen, but a delicate, white-pinkish flower that looked exquisite.

The Gardener nodded with eager, repetitive motions.

Once Lilliana took the bloom, the creature retreated.

"It seems we have established who the more attractive sister is," Lilliana teased with a chuckle, noting that Davina had received no such gift. In fact, not a single Gardener had even glanced in her direction. "Those days of constant exertion are clearly dulling your feminine charm."

"I wish one of them had stabbed you instead of offering flowers," Davina countered with a sneer.

Despite her sour expression, she was caught surreptitiously watching the Gardeners pass.

She seemed particularly intrigued by the creatures that appeared as light-colored, furry beasts.

Davina was clearly drawn to the ones that possessed a softer, more endearing appearance.

Rex, however, noticed something entirely different.

He stood motionless, watching a neighboring Gardener pluck a fully bloomed Baby-blue Periwinkle. His instincts remained silent, detecting no predatory aggression from these beings. Throughout their entire trek, not one of them had shown signs of hostility.

It was evident, just as Nash had claimed, that these Gardeners remained tranquil unless provoked by the theft of their periwinkles.

Upon scanning the Gardener’s statistics, Rex’s brows furrowed deeply.

While this particular Gardener possessed features reminiscent of a human, Rex had originally dismissed it as a beast wearing a human guise. In reality, it was an actual person—an Ancient Human. It even possessed a name, just like any living being.

Furthermore, because this individual held a Soul Artifact and an Echo, it confirmed they had traversed the Spirit Realm at some point.

Given the presence of elemental affinity, their place of origin had to be a Mortal Realm.

Looking into its eyes didn't feel like meeting the gaze of a man; it felt like peering into the blank stare of a wooden puppet.

Or, perhaps, someone who had been placed under a deep hypnotic spell.

Rex scanned another passerby and noted the differences. While the race, Soul Artifacts, and Echoes were distinct, the Oustification remained identical.

Curse of the Cavity.

It smelled like trouble.

<System Notification: Learning about the Curse of the Cavity requires an expenditure of one billion gold.>

Rex manifested a click of annoyance, lacking the gold to acquire the intel, though he committed the name to memory. If this curse possessed the potency to reduce an Ancient Human to the state of a Gardener, he needed to ascertain if it posed a legitimate threat to him.

His eyes burned with intent at that thought.

Rumble—!

A sudden cacophony of combat erupted, reaching Rex’s ears.

Lilliana and Davina heard it as well.

Without a word exchanged, the trio sprinted toward the source of the conflict. It wasn't that they sought to interfere in external disputes, but they required a clearer understanding of the dynamics within this specific sector of the Primordial Meadow.

Upon arriving, they watched two Gardeners locked in a stalemate.

"A territorial dispute?" Davina whispered.

"Indeed," Rex noted, pointing toward the nearby Baby-blue Periwinkle. "I suspect they are battling over that."

These two were fundamentally distinct from the others they had encountered.

Each emanated an energy—pale, golden radiance bleeding from them like vapor—that Davina and Lilliana could observe with their sight but felt completely unable to sense. It was undeniable and vivid right before their eyes, yet it was invisible to their other sensory perceptions.

It was akin to watching a fire that emitted no warmth.

Throughout their lives, they had relied on their sense of energy to detect threats, often finding it more reliable than sight.

Now, however, the paradigm was reversed.

Only their vision allowed them to perceive the danger.

"Can you sense the energy emitting from them?" Lilliana asked, turning to Rex. She hoped to find out if this blindness was restricted to Demigods.

"I..." Rex’s pupils trembled as he watched the two figures, his eyes fixed on their glowing aura. "I cannot sense it either."

His confession landed with the finality of a thunderclap.

They found it difficult to grasp that even Rex, who had attained the status of a Demigod, lacked the ability to sense the energy of these Gardeners. Yet he appeared sincere; his expression betrayed a genuine shock that he could not sense it himself.

Only moments ago, Rex had realized these Gardeners possessed strength equal to his own werewolf form.

Now, he learned he was blind to their power signatures.

It appeared Nivellen had not been exaggerating when she cautioned him about the peril of entering this realm without adequate preparation. Even the first Godling he encountered, despite being relatively peaceful, was already an immense threat.

He could hardly fathom what horrors might be lurking in the deeper reaches of this land.

Clang—!

Like a pair of apparitions flickering in and out of view, the Gardeners clashed.

Each collision failed to generate the massive shockwaves or the widespread destruction that usually accompanied battles between powerful figures in the lower planes. Yet, Lilliana and Davina could feel the aura of danger emanating from every single strike.

Though their eyes struggled to keep pace, the intensity of the struggle was manifest.

Upon closer inspection, they realized that the lack of sound and destruction wasn't inherent to the combatants.

Something else was absorbing the impact and the dissonance every time they crossed steel.

It had to be the master of the realm, acting to prevent its beloved garden from being defiled by such a brawl.

"We should depart," Davina advised, watching the battle expand across the field. It would not be long before they were drawn into the fray. "We should follow Nash’s trail and gather more information before we entangle ourselves in any conflicts here."

"I agree," Lilliana replied with a nod. "It would be foolish to invite disaster so early on."

She turned toward Rex, raising an eyebrow.

"What do you thi—?"

Her words withered in her mouth.

Beside her, Rex was breathing heavily, his frame vibrating, with his eyes glinting in the unmistakable, deep crimson of raw bloodlust—the signature of his kind. This bloodlust was not merely boiling; it was projecting outward in waves so powerful she could physically feel it.

It was not a state in which she or Davina desired to find him.

"I cannot sense their energies," Rex muttered, rising slightly as his gaze remained locked on the fighting Gardeners. "But if I were to devour one of them... if I were to sink my fangs into their flesh and feast... then I would. Then I would finally see them."
