The Invincible Full-Moon System Chapter 1848: Blood Vendetta
Previously on The Invincible Full-Moon System...
"You animal!" Evelyn roared.
Reason fled from her thoughts as she boldly rushed toward the eerie Godling.
Yet, an arm blocked her path, preventing her from committing such a foolish act.
Both Princess Selene and the Great Luna cautioned her against any hasty actions, given the perilous and critical circumstances. A single misstep could mean instant death. With Rex absent, no one could protect her as he usually would.
Staying composed and seeking escape routes was the wisest choice.
Sadly, their pleas failed to penetrate Evelyn's resolve.
Despite her deep loathing for Calidora and the child growing within that cunning vampire, both played vital roles in Rex's existence. They could anchor him to reality. Losing them would shatter him completely.
’He’s endured too much already...’ Tears welled in Evelyn’s eyes. ’Not anymore... Never again!’
Evelyn struggled to lunge forward repeatedly, but Princess Selene fortunately restrained her firmly.
The Great Luna chose to bypass Evelyn entirely and speak directly to Princess Selene.
[Restore her senses. Strike her if necessary. She must create an escape path immediately.]
Princess Selene seldom heard her mother’s tone so laced with barely concealed worry.
"I’ll try!" Princess Selene struck Evelyn across the face.
The blow only fueled her wilder frenzy. Anguish had fully consumed her mind.
Meanwhile, the eerie Godling paid no heed to the petty disputes among humans.
Gazing upward at the blood moon, he locked eyes with Kaiser, seeking direction.
Kaiser responded with a resolute nod.
The moment had arrived.
"Naturally, our encounter draws to a close," the eerie Godling murmured.
Princess Selene cast a quick look backward—while keeping a grip on Evelyn. Regret flickered across her features. Witnessing the dire outcome now, she perhaps wished she hadn’t joined forces with Evelyn when destruction loomed so close.
Had she resisted a bit more, she might have ended up victorious.
"Fear not," the eerie Godling assured, shaking his head. "With the troublesome Silverstar Pack eliminated, someone must guide the werewolves henceforth. As promised, your life belongs to us. We wish no extinction for your kind. Take this as a stern lesson for the future."
Silence blanketed the surroundings.
Internally, Princess Selene weighed her options, and she couldn’t deny the wave of relief that followed.
Though she ultimately chose the Silverstar Pack’s side, she had resisted the longest among them. Unlike Prince Alaric, who yielded swiftly. And as the eerie Godling hinted, the Lunirich Gods required the werewolves’ survival.
Thus, her betrayal earned forgiveness.
"Eliminate them," the eerie Godling’s words whispered into Princess Selene’s ears.
She blinked, refocusing on him, her eyes flaring with surprise.
"Prove your loyalty," he continued, his elongated index finger directing toward Evelyn, then Gistella, and finally Adhara. "For progress to occur, the Silverstar Pack must end. Rip out their hearts and feed them back, then present their remains to the Scarlet Garland."
At his order, a jolt of lightning surged through Princess Selene’s veins.
Her blood stirred in response to the eerie Godling’s directive.
This reaction confirmed the eternal bondage of werewolves to the Lunirich Gods.
Bam—!
A forceful blast of energy slammed into Evelyn like a compressed air projectile, hurling her across the terrain as she scraped harshly against the dirt.
This granted Princess Selene the necessary moment to fulfill her task.
"Proceed," the eerie Godling pressed. "Avoid dying alongside them."
Princess Selene regarded him, then glanced downward. In this instant, opportunity belonged to her. Survival lay plainly ahead—all she had to do was grasp it. ’While I breathe, I can reverse the tide. I still can...’
The thought trailed off unfinished in her mind.
Strangely, she couldn’t pinpoint why.
Blood showered upon her, soaking her fur and filling the air with its metallic tang.
Fallen bodies surrounded her, some still moaning in agony.
Seeking direction, Princess Selene turned toward Miriam, who was already watching her intently. The Shaman’s expression had shifted. The usual respect had vanished, replaced by a glimmer of optimistic uncertainty.
’What does she hope from me?’ Princess Selene pondered silently.
Turning the other way, her gaze clashed with Adhara’s.
Adhara’s eyes glowed purely white, brimming with savage fury. She fought to rise into a sitting position.
The surrounding Godlings regarded Princess Selene with unified disdain.
Given her earlier alliance with the Silverstar Pack, their animosity didn’t surprise her. Yet, even without that misstep, they’d likely scorn her as just another insignificant mortal.
These reflections stirred a tumult of emotions within her.
[The Origin forged an alliance with the Lunirich Gods but refused total submission. You must do the same. These entities aren’t true werewolves. They merely mimic our form. The Silverstar Pack consists of genuine werewolves and humans. That distinction changes everything.]
"Decide now, mortal princess."
Princess Selene’s fists tightened fiercely amid the pressing voices of the Great Luna and the eerie Godling. Logic urged her to embrace the Lunirich Gods’ offer and reclaim leadership over the werewolves. Yet, her heart rebelled.
Previously, she had chosen to yield and trust in the Clarentium Empire’s ideals.
That choice was hers alone.
Reneging now filled her with self-disgust, complicating her resolve.
’I yearn to heed my heart, yet victory against the Lunirich Gods seems impossible...’ Her jaw locked as she wavered between gut feeling and practicality. ’If only a hint existed. Some signal that even a slim hope remains, then perhaps I could—’
Princess Selene halted abruptly.
Amid the Godlings, something drew her notice.
A body. Actually, several remained sprawled on the earth.
While most corpses had reverted, as these Godlings couldn’t truly perish, others lay motionless. Some failed to revive. Some met true demise. Contrary to the eerie Godling’s assertion, certain deaths were permanent.
’Those... Adhara and Gistella slew them!’
Princess Selene’s eyes expanded with sudden insight.
Indeed, Kaiser enabled this incursion into the Mortal Realm because the Silverstar Pack had ascended to Demigods, eroding the barriers preventing Gods from targeting inferiors directly. Yet, this elevation allowed the Silverstar Pack to endanger the Gods themselves.
To injure the Lunirich Gods.
With her choice firming, the event unfolded.
An entity breached the realm.
Rumble—!
All heads whipped toward a spot roughly a hundred meters away, where Sven lay restrained. The atmosphere quaked fiercely—under the weight of a colossal presence. One potent enough to captivate even Kaiser and Meloriana.
Kaiser’s expression stayed impassive, but creases formed on Meloriana’s brow.
She scowled.
An occurrence in the Mortal Realm had compelled a Goddess to grimace.
Then, a deafening rupture echoed.
A hand ending in obsidian-steel talons burst forth. Its keen edge tore the sealed dimension into a straight gash, followed by the second hand, which gripped and yanked—the fissure broadening into a wide maw sufficient for beasts to pass.
A fiendish, savage visage emerged from the emptiness, growling with savagery and wrath.
The rift devoured skin and skeleton as it shoved through, yet the fiend pressed on undeterred.
Merely its spirit traversed.
The colossal frame, torn and dissolved, dropped aside as sanguine droplets tainted the soul’s pristine hue, transforming the core of a conscious entity into a bloody specter—of fury and vengeance. Its muzzle lifted, aimed at the blood moon’s gaze.
Vermilion lunar rays bathed Rex’s features as he threw his head back and bellowed.
"KAISER!!"
His bellow unleashed a force no mortal could summon.
A potency that pierced even divine skeletons.
The entire realm fractured, and countless Godlings exploded into crimson vapor, facing eternal end without defense. Solely the eerie Godling partially withstood the purple reverberation.
Briefly, Miriam and Sintra gaped at the beast that materialized, stunned.
Soon, they recognized its form mirrored theirs.
A werewolf.
Only then did realization dawn: this beast was the notorious werewolf.
The Prime Hybrid. The Emerging Luminary of the Modern Age. The Alpha leading the Silverstar Pack.
Rex Silverstar.
Princess Selene’s features slackened in wonder and near-remorse. She had deemed her despair rational. It wasn’t. Fear had smothered her thoughts, dulling her judgment until folly took hold.
Clarity struck now, as she observed the fiend claw into being.
With the Royal Black Prince present, hope persisted eternally.
"You’ve struck at me endlessly. You’ve targeted my possessions endlessly," Rex’s gaze, frenzied and rage-veiled, bored into Kaiser’s icy stare. "Now, experience the assault yourself."
For the first time, Kaiser’s composure faltered slightly.
He inferred Rex’s intent and deemed it inconceivable.
Yet, Rex’s expression affirmed its feasibility.
"I invoke blood vendetta upon you." Rex proclaimed—with a grin savoring the instant. "I shall unleash blood and ruin upon you."
Rex shifted his focus downward to the weakened figures scattered from prior clashes, then to the eerie Godling nearby. His eyes sharpened, and instinctively—the eerie Godling vaulted aside, detecting peril.
He reared his head once more.
This occasion, however, a howl burst from his maw rather than a roar.
The Silverstar Howl resounded.
In a flash, vitality erupted within the Silverstars.
Adhara leaped upright with a guttural snarl. Gistella stirred abruptly nearby. Evelyn, distant across the chasm, ascended gradually, purposefully. Yet, they all emerged from stupor simultaneously and spotted Rex.
In his depths, a spark of recognition ignited.
The ravaged landscape revealed their newfound might.
Rex felt delighted surprise, as their prowess surpassed his projections.
Nevertheless, their trials persisted.
Each discerned Rex’s entrapment in the Spirit Realm. His physical form had been obliterated merely from probing the boundary, leaving his soul. Restraints bound him, and the perpetrator was evident.
That said, it wouldn’t deter his efforts.
Rex surveyed the trio before extending his hand outward.
Glowing lunar essence cloaked Evelyn and Gistella. Before response, they vanished, transported away. Only Adhara lingered, and their eyes met briefly longer.
A grin spread across Adhara’s lips.
’I get it. I’ll handle it.’ She conveyed mentally.
Rex inclined his head in affirmation, yet bestowed upon her an enhancement.
<Notice: the user is bestowing the Echo of Night Spirits onto the Female Alpha>
With a tilt of his skull, two entities emerged from the rift Rex maintained.
Amanir and Devo appeared, their auras and shapes elevated beyond the ordinary. Superior. More potent.
"Aid her," Rex commanded them gravely. "Ensure her survival."
Boom—!
At that precise instant, the blood moon unleashed a lunar ray streaking at light’s velocity. It collided with Rex squarely, propelling him back into the Spirit Realm, and swiftly sealed the dimensional breach he had formed.
