Boom!
The car Nolan was driving was suddenly slammed by a huge truck, sending it flying through the air before crashing hard into a power pole.
The car rolled over several times before flames suddenly burst out, quickly engulfing the entire vehicle.
The accident shocked everyone nearby. A few people immediately ran over to see what had happened, only to find Nolan in terrible condition.
His handsome face was badly mangled, with part of his skull exposed and several ribs sticking out.
The sight was so horrifying that everyone froze in shock.
Thankfully, the men who rushed over to pull him from the burning car managed to stay calm.
They carefully dragged Nolan out of the wreckage and laid him on the road before calling the police and an ambulance.
The accident brought traffic to a complete standstill. Not long after, a police car and an ambulance arrived at the scene.
Nolan's body was covered with a black sheet and loaded into the ambulance.
Nolan watched the scene in silence.
He still remembered it clearly. At that moment, his spirit had already left his body and was floating nearby, completely lost.
The scene then shifted to the hospital.
Seira stood there crying, desperately begging the doctors who were examining Nolan.
"I don't care! Save my fiancé!" she screamed through her tears.
The elderly doctor let out a long sigh and slowly shook his head.
"I'm sorry, young lady, but there's nothing we can do. Your fiancé can't be saved."
"Liar! That's impossible!" Seira screamed hysterically. "Argh! Nolan, don't leave me!"
The doctor could only order the nurses to take Seira outside.
Watching it all unfold, Nolan felt a sharp pain in his chest.
Even though he had already witnessed this scene before his reincarnation, seeing it again still hurt like hell.
He thought that was the final scene, but he was wrong.
Another scene appeared—one he had never seen before.
Seira walked toward a grave. The name Nolan Frey was clearly engraved on the headstone.
The beautiful, energetic woman with the radiant smile Nolan remembered had changed so much. Her face had aged considerably, though traces of her youthful beauty still remained.
Strands of white were now clearly visible in her long black hair.
She sat beside Nolan's grave and smiled gently.
"It's been twenty years since you passed away, my love. Do you know how much I miss you?"
Tears welled up in the corners of her eyes.
"Every night, I dream about you. One of the clearest dreams I've ever had was when you were actually still alive, only trapped in a coma after your accident."
She wiped away her tears while forcing a broad smile.
"In that dream, you finally woke up after two years in a coma. Hahaha… Honestly, I can't forget that moment. We got married and went on our honeymoon to a private island."
She recounted the memory as if it had truly happened in the real world.
"Unfortunately…" Seira's smile turned bitter.
"You disappeared. I don't remember what actually happened. All I remember is that you had to undergo the gods' punishment before you disappeared just like that."
She lowered her head, her eyes filled with sadness.
"That was the most precious dream I've ever had since losing you."
Nolan froze upon hearing her words.
"A dream?"
His heart began to pound.
"Are you surprised?"
A woman's indifferent voice came from beside him.
Nolan turned and saw the goddess walking toward him.
"What does this mean!?" Nolan snapped, gritting his teeth. "A dream? Was everything in that world just a dream!?"
The goddess remained calm, completely unfazed by his anger.
"You can think of it that way."
She stopped beside him and turned toward the giant screen.
"Isn't that what you wanted? To return to your world, meet the people you love, and fulfill the dreams you never got the chance to pursue?"
Her words caught Nolan off guard. He wanted to get angry, but he couldn't think of anything to argue against.
After all, what the goddess said was exactly what had been on his mind.
"Besides, that world can't really be considered a dream. How should I put it… perhaps calling it an alternate world would be more accurate."
"An alternate world?"
Nolan's eyes widened.
The goddess gave a slight nod.
"The universe is vast. Every universe has its own alternate versions, including the planets, stars, and creatures within them. The Earth you visited was simply an alternate version of the world you came from."
Nolan's breathing quickened. The revelation was simply too much for him to take in.
He had always thought parallel universes were nothing more than a theory proposed by scientists on Earth. Yet, unexpectedly, they were actually real.
"T-Then, what happened to Seira after I died? Did she—"
"Just watch."
The goddess's cold answer left Nolan speechless.
He shifted his attention back to the giant screen.
Seira was still recounting the days of sadness and despair she had endured without Nolan.
Suddenly…
"Sister Seira, let's go back. The sky is getting cloudy. It's going to rain soon."
The scene immediately shifted to a beautiful woman with long, flowing ginger-red hair.
Her features were flawless, and her purple eyes sparkled like gemstones.
Nolan's eyes widened in surprise.
"That woman... isn't that Alice!?"
He knew his little sister very well. Even though she looked completely different from the little Alice he remembered, he was one hundred percent certain.
That was Alice.
Seira, who had been crying, slowly regained her composure.
She stood up and said softly, "I'm going home now, my love. I'll come back tomorrow."
From there, the scenes kept shifting back and forth, finally showing Nolan what happened to Seira after his death.
She never married and eventually inherited the Aldridge family business.
Naturally, her decision not to marry drew opposition from many people, especially members of her extended family.
However, Seira stood firm. Nothing could change her mind.
Meanwhile, the Frey family was led by Alice, whose leadership style was strikingly similar to Nolan's—firm and iron-fisted.
Nolan felt as though he were looking at a younger version of himself whenever he saw Alice, causing him to unconsciously smile.
Whoosh!
The scene suddenly shifted.
Seira was lying weakly in a hospital bed.
Her black hair had turned completely white, while the wrinkles on her face showed just how much time had taken its toll.
Beep!
Beep!
The sound of the heart monitor echoed from the table beside the bed.
Seira slowly opened her pale pink eyes, which had long since lost their former light, and stared blankly at the hospital ceiling.
"Seventy years… have passed," she murmured weakly. "Nolan, my love for you has never once… faded. It has only grown stronger… and more steadfast. Fate is truly… cruel."
Her breathing gradually grew weaker as she slowly closed her eyes.
"Gods, please hear me. If there is truly an afterlife… I beg you… let me be reunited with him."
The moment she finished speaking, the heart monitor emitted a long, continuous beep.
Nolan stared at the scene in a daze.
Seeing Seira spend her entire life alone, never marrying anyone else, moved him deeply. But at the same time, it shattered his heart.
He loved her dearly, but that didn't mean he wanted to see her suffer like this.
Clenching both fists, Nolan asked in a trembling voice, "What happens to Seira next? Has she gone to the afterlife?"
The goddess gave him a faint smile.
"No. The gods have granted her wish."
Nolan's eyes widened in shock.
"W-What do you mean?"
The goddess didn't answer. Instead, she snapped her fingers.
A portal suddenly appeared behind Nolan, and a powerful force began pulling him toward it.
"Tell me! Where is she now!?" Nolan shouted.
The goddess simply maintained her smile.
"She's in your world. She's someone close to you… someone you know very well."
Whoosh!
The portal completely swallowed Nolan before vanishing without a trace.
