"Elina has already shown up and taken action. What are you going to do now, Cedric?"
Margaretta walked over to Cedric, who was sitting on the sofa, and wrapped her arms around his neck.
Feeling her embrace, Cedric gave a faint smile and gently stroked her cheek.
"There's no need for us to take any action. Let her do the work of finding the granddaughter of the Crescent Moon Swordsman. Once she finds her, we'll simply steal her away. What do you think?"
Margaretta was taken aback by his daring plan.
"Are you sure? One of the Singularity of Chaos's subordinates is on her side. Stealing her from Elina is practically suicide, you know?"
"So what? Do you think I don't have a trump card?"
Margaretta blinked curiously.
"Don't tell me you have someone even stronger than the Singularity of Chaos's subordinate helping you?"
Cedric nodded without hesitation.
"That's right. But for now, I won't tell you who it is. Let's keep it a secret." He chuckled.
Margaretta rolled her eyes. Instead of getting angry, however, she hugged Cedric even tighter and whispered softly,
"You're so cruel. I love that…"
…
Ruigard City, Northern Region…
Ruigard City was a fairly advanced city in the northern region.
While it couldn't be compared to Orested, the capital of the Northern Region, Ruigard was still one of the most populous cities in the area.
At that moment, Elina was taking a leisurely stroll through Ruigard. She had only one goal—to find clues about the kidnapping of the Crescent Moon Swordsman's granddaughter.
"Ruigard, huh? This city is huge. Do you know where you want to go first?"
Arnold's voice echoed in her mind.
Elina pulled her hood down and smiled faintly.
"Isn't it obvious? The tavern. My brother Nolan once told me that taverns are hubs of information. Even black-market deals often take place there."
Arnold chuckled softly.
"You're very smart. I'm sure your brother would be proud if he knew that."
Elina puffed out her chest proudly. Then, she began searching for the largest tavern in Ruigard.
After asking around, she finally arrived in front of one.
A sign hanging above the entrance read "Oweiwei," which looked rather strange.
Elina didn't linger and immediately stepped inside.
"Hahaha! I won the bet with that guy!"
"Oh? How much did you win?"
"Not much—just a few thousand Sharn."
"Damn! That's a lot!"
"Hey, give me a glass of beer!"
"Hey, when's my order coming!? This is taking forever!"
Voices echoed all around, filling the entire tavern.
It was Elina's first time seeing such a lively place, and she couldn't help but look around with curiosity.
"Excuse me. Are you dining here? And how many people?"
A waitress asked politely.
Elina composed herself and replied, "Just one person, please."
The waitress smiled and led her to an empty table in the middle of the room.
After Elina sat down, the waitress handed her the menu.
"Once you've made your choice, please call me over."
"Thank you."
Elina opened the menu and picked out a few dishes that caught her eye before calling the waitress over to place her order.
"This place is really crowded. No wonder Brother Nolan told me to come to a tavern if I needed information," she muttered as she carefully observed her surroundings.
"In fact, people from all walks of life—except the nobility—often gather in places like this. They exchange information and discuss all sorts of things. So, it's no surprise that taverns are great places to find information," Arnold explained.
Elina nodded and continued chatting casually with Arnold.
Before she knew it, her food arrived.
She looked over the dishes curiously before taking a bite.
"Mhmm!" Her eyes widened. "It tastes pretty good."
"Is that so? I thought food from the Northern Region was supposed to be a bit bland and lacking in seasoning."
"No, this is really delicious. Would you like to try some?"
"Thanks, but I can't go out right now. That would ruin your plans."
Elina tapped her forehead. She'd completely forgotten about that.
She continued eating while listening to the conversations around her.
Unfortunately, she didn't hear any of the information she was looking for.
"It seems I'll have to find out on my own," she muttered.
The result was pretty much what she expected.
After all, the kidnapping had happened more than twenty years ago.
Who could possibly remember a kidnapping that happened twenty years ago?
Like it or not, she needed to find a way to connect with some of the key sources of information in Ruigard.
Once she finished eating, she was about to stand up when a waitress suddenly stopped her.
"Wait a moment, miss. Can I have a moment of your time?"
Elina was surprised, but she didn't refuse.
"Go ahead."
The waitress sat down across from her with a smile.
"First, I'd like to ask—aren't you originally from Ruigard?"
Elina raised her eyebrows slightly. She didn't understand why the woman was asking her that.
"No, I'm not from here. Is there a problem?"
"No." The woman shook her head. "It's just that I wanted to let you know that our establishment offers a service for finding missing people. We also provide other services, such as…"
Her voice softened as she spoke the next word.
"Murder."
Elina's body tensed. Her eyes narrowed as she studied the woman's expression, which remained perfectly calm.
What does this woman mean? And what's her motive?
It was impossible for someone to approach her without a reason and say something so bold.
"Maybe she's a saleswoman?" Arnold's hesitant voice echoed in her mind.
"A saleswoman?"
"Salespeople are people who promote products. But the woman in front of you sells services like assassination, gathering information, and things like that."
His answer left Elina speechless.
"Wait… Does something like that even exist?"
"Then what exactly do you think the woman in front of you is?"
Elina was at a loss for words.
"And isn't this your chance?" Arnold continued. "Right now, you're lost and don't have much of a direction. Using a service like this would be far more efficient."
Elina pondered his words and felt that they made sense.
"You're right."
"Even so, be careful," Arnold warned seriously. "Using a service like this could be a trap. Who knows? Maybe the woman in front of you is trying to trick you and plans to rob you instead."
Elina furrowed her brow. Arnold's words made perfect sense.
"I understand. Thanks for the warning."
She composed herself before looking at the woman with an indifferent expression.
"Why did you suddenly offer me this service?"
The woman smiled and answered frankly, "Because you're suspicious."
"Suspicious?"
"A lot of people come here looking for information. You're acting just like them. So, instead of looking for something that may not even be there, wouldn't it be better to just ask the source directly?"
Elina fell silent. The woman turned out to be quite perceptive.
"I understand." Elina took a deep breath before slowly exhaling. "I'll take you up on that."
