"What do you mean? Could it be that Blue Moon's innovative products come from the same world as the Hero of Light?"
"Something like that."
Arnold's answer left Elina speechless. It sounded a little hard to believe, but she couldn't think of any reason for Arnold to lie to her.
Besides, Arnold had just said that he'd once spoken with the Hero of Light, so she had no reason to doubt his words.
"Wait…" Her eyes narrowed. "Could it be that the founder of Blue Moon, Miss Shion, has a way to connect with people who have spoken to the Hero of Light? Or maybe she received that knowledge through word of mouth? But a thousand years is a long time. I'm a bit skeptical that anyone could preserve a legacy passed down by word of mouth for that long."
The more Elina thought about it, the more confused she became.
Her intuition told her that Arnold had a specific reason for telling her this secret, but she couldn't quite figure out what it was.
Arnold naturally sensed her unease and simply chuckled to himself without saying a word.
He flapped his wings and soared higher and higher until he eventually vanished into the horizon.
…
"Are you sure this is the place?"
"Yes, I'm sure, Cedric. Uncle Roswell also said that the person lives in a wooden shack. Isn't that house exactly as he described?"
Margaretta pointed toward a wooden house in the distance.
Cedric took a deep breath before slowly exhaling.
"You're right."
Accompanied by dozens of guards, the two of them made their way through the dense, snow-covered forest before finally reaching the wooden house.
There was no one outside, making it seem as though the house had been abandoned.
Cedric approached the house and stopped in front of the wooden door.
Knock! Knock!
"Good afternoon, Crescent Moon Swordsman. I'm Cedric Lorian, the Second Prince of the Great Velmora Empire. I have something important to discuss with you. May I come in?"
He waited patiently, but several minutes passed without a response.
Cedric knocked on the door again, but there was still no answer.
"Could it be that the Crescent Moon Swordsman has left?" Cedric asked.
Margaretta, who was standing beside him, fell silent for a moment as she considered the possibility.
However, remembering what she had seen in the future, she quickly dismissed the thought.
"No... That's impossible. The Crescent Moon Swordsman must be inside. I saw it in a vision of the future."
She pointed at her pitch-black eyes.
Cedric pursed his lips.
The Crescent Moon Swordsman was a mysterious swordsman whose name had been famous for hundreds of years.
However, rumors and information about him were scarce, as if the historical records concerning him had been deliberately erased by someone.
The reason Cedric had come looking for him was simple—to prevent Elina from getting his help.
Margaretta had the ability to see the future, although her ability was limited.
Yesterday, when she used it, she saw that Elina would seek out the Crescent Moon Swordsman and receive his help.
This naturally frightened Cedric. Elina had already received help from the Singularity of Chaos.
If she also gained the support of the Crescent Moon Swordsman, her already solid position would become even stronger.
He couldn't let that happen. No matter what, he had to stop it.
"In that case, let's wait for him to show up. Maybe he's out hunting," Cedric said as he sat down on the rickety wooden floor.
Margaretta nodded and sat down beside him.
Three hours passed in the blink of an eye. Before they knew it, the sky, which had been somewhat clear, had begun to darken.
Cedric opened his eyes and met Margaretta's weary gaze.
"How long have we been here?" he asked indifferently.
A soldier who had nearly fallen asleep quickly straightened up and answered loudly, "T-Three hours, Your Highness!"
"Three hours?" Cedric's eyebrows furrowed deeply.
He looked up at the sky, which had already begun to darken.
"It seems this journey was in vain," he lamented.
He stood up, then reached out his hand and helped Margaretta to her feet.
"Everyone, we'll be spending the night here!" he ordered.
The soldiers were startled by his order. They glanced at the dark, silent forest behind them.
The growls of tigers and howls of wolves could be heard in the distance, sending shivers down their spines.
But what else could they do?
Cedric had given the order, so they had no choice but to follow it.
Fortunately, they had packed a tent in their bags just in case something like this happened.
Just as they were about to set up the tent in front of the wooden house, a cold voice suddenly came from behind them.
"Who are you? What are you doing in my yard!?"
Cedric, Margaretta, and the others were startled.
They quickly turned around and saw an old man walking toward them with a hunched back, carrying the body of a deer in his right hand.
A stack of firewood was neatly tied to his back.
Cedric and Margaretta hurried over to the old man and greeted him.
"Good evening, Crescent Moon Swordsman."
The old man narrowed his eyes and snorted.
"Don't call me that. Get out of here!"
He was about to walk past them, but Cedric quickly stopped him.
"W-Wait! I need your help! At least let my fiancée and me come inside first!"
However, the old man seemed to ignore him and continued walking past them.
Cedric gritted his teeth. He turned toward the man's receding back and shouted, "I know you're looking for your granddaughter, aren't you!? I can help you find her!"
The old man's steps suddenly stopped.
He turned around, his gray eyes staring sharply at Cedric, like a knife piercing straight through his heart.
Cedric unconsciously took a step back, cold sweat running down his back.
"What… did you say? You can help me find my granddaughter?"
His voice turned cold.
"Are you threatening me?"
Cedric panicked and quickly clarified.
"N-No, it's not like that!"
He steadied his racing heart before continuing.
"I heard before coming here that you're looking for your granddaughter. That's why I came. I want to work with you. I have a way to find your granddaughter, but in return, I want you to work with me. What do you say?"
This time, the old man didn't refuse. He seemed to be seriously considering the proposal.
A few minutes later, he took a deep breath and finally nodded.
"Come into my house. We'll talk inside."
