"Did you pack everything? What about your clothes? Everything's ready, right?"
Rafine kept asking Elina one question after another.
Elina, who was busy packing her clothes, couldn't help but laugh.
"Everything's ready. Thanks for your concern, Sister-in-law."
Rafine's face flushed when she heard that.
She quickly looked away and snorted in annoyance.
"Sister-in-law? I don't have any kind of relationship with your brother, okay?"
"Pfftt! Not now, but what about later?"
Elina gave her a playful look.
"Y-You…"
Rafine felt both annoyed and embarrassed, but that only made Elina laugh even harder.
A few minutes later, Elina zipped up her backpack and slung it over her shoulder.
"Everything's ready."
She pulled her hood over her head, hiding her face.
"Please look after Virella while I'm gone, Rafine. And make sure to train Novaria as we planned. I want to see the results when I return."
Rafine nodded firmly.
"Don't worry. I'll take care of the mansion and train Her Highness Novaria."
Elina smiled faintly. Without saying another word, she turned and left through the back door.
Her departure for the northern region had to be kept as secret as possible.
After all, that was where Cedric and former Prime Minister Roswell were located.
Considering what she had done to them, it wasn't impossible that they would target her once she arrived there.
As soon as she left the mansion, Elina immediately called out to Malverna.
"Malverna, are you there? I need your help."
There was no answer.
However, Elina didn't give up. She kept calling out to Malverna, but all she got in response was silence.
"Could Malverna really have disappeared?"
Her heart pounded. She had considered that possibility before, but she'd always assumed it was impossible.
And now, several days had passed, yet Malverna was nowhere to be seen.
Whoosh!
A portal suddenly appeared in front of her, and a handsome man with gray hair stepped out.
Elina was surprised to see him.
"You…"
"I'm Arnold, one of the servants of the Singularity of Chaos."
Arnold bowed respectfully with a faint smile.
"Malverna is having some trouble and can't look after you, so I'll be taking her place for the time being. I hope you don't mind, Princess."
Elina was taken aback once again.
She remembered him clearly—Arnold, one of the subordinates of the Singularity of Chaos and the man who had helped her and her brother at their father's birthday party.
Back then, the Singularity of Light had tried to attack her and her brother, but Arnold had stopped it.
Although more than a year had passed since that incident, she still remembered him clearly.
After composing herself, she looked deeply into Arnold's eyes and asked, "Where is Malverna? And what happened to her?"
Arnold straightened up before answering.
"She was summoned by my lord. She has some business that I cannot discuss with you. I'm sorry."
Elina understood his situation and didn't press him any further.
"I understand. By the way, I'd like to ask for your help in taking me to the northern region."
She then explained her purpose to Arnold.
Once Arnold understood, he smiled confidently and said, "Don't worry. I'll take you there. Please step back as far as possible."
Elina didn't understand what he meant, but she did as she was told.
Buzz!
A black light burst from Arnold's body. The next second, it expanded to over a dozen meters.
When the light faded, a black dragon appeared before Elina.
"A-A… dragon!?" she cried out in fear.
Arnold lowered his head and spoke in a voice that echoed directly in Elina's mind.
"Climb onto my head."
Elina swallowed hard. She had never ridden a dragon before. This was her first time.
Still, she quickly pushed aside her hesitation and climbed onto his head.
As she sat down, Elina unconsciously reached out and touched his skin. It felt rough beneath her fingers.
"Get ready. I'm going to fly."
After saying that, Arnold flapped his wings and soared into the sky.
But instead of flying away as Elina had expected, a giant teleportation portal suddenly appeared above them.
Arnold flew straight into it, and his massive body vanished from sight.
...
The Northern Region, Land of Death...
The Northern Region was vast. Due to its extreme weather, not all of its areas were habitable. One such place was the Land of Death.
Legend had it that this land was once a graveyard for dragons who had fought against the demon race.
Of course, many people thought it was just a rumor, while others believed it was true.
Buzz!
A portal suddenly appeared in the sky above the Land of Death, and a massive black dragon flew out of it.
Elina quickly covered her face with her arms. However, the cold she had expected never came.
"Warm…"
She slowly lowered her arms and looked at Arnold in awe.
"Don't worry. My body has magical protection that keeps you safe, Your Highness."
Arnold's voice echoed in her mind.
Elina smiled and whispered, "Thank you."
Whoosh!
Arnold flapped his wings, sending his massive body soaring across the vast land.
From above, Elina could clearly see the Land of Death.
All she could see was snow-covered ground and plants that had withered from the harsh weather. No wonder they called this place the Land of Death.
"Hey, Arnold. I want to ask you something."
"Hmmm? Go ahead, Your Highness."
"Is the Land of Death really a graveyard for dragons, as the rumors say?"
Arnold fell silent. Elina gasped, realizing that her question might have offended him.
"Ah! S-Sorry! I—"
"Yes. This place was once a graveyard for dragons."
Elina swallowed the words that had been stuck in her throat.
Arnold then continued in a calm tone.
"The war a thousand years ago involved not only humans but also us dragons. The Demon Emperor Zerathos was incredibly powerful... so powerful that we were completely overwhelmed."
He chuckled softly, as if he didn't consider those events to be particularly serious.
"However, fortunately, humanity managed to summon two heroes from another world. That's why we're still grateful to humanity and remain indebted to them to this day."
Elina listened carefully, growing even more curious about the two human heroes.
"Have you ever met those two heroes in person?"
"Of course I have. I've even talked with them a few times, especially the Hero of Light—the ancestor of the Lionheart family."
"Then, have you ever heard about their world? I mean... another world was something previously considered impossible, right? I'm just curious... what's that world like? Is it similar to ours?"
Arnold laughed and explained, "No, the world where the Hero of Light and the Hero of Darkness came from isn't the same as ours. How should I put it... that world, called Earth, is a peaceful place. The countries there don't go to war. Instead, they work together in many different fields, which has allowed their civilization to become incredibly advanced."
Elina was amazed to hear that.
For some reason, she found herself wondering what it would be like to visit a world like that.
"By the way, you must know the Blue Moon Trading House, right?"
Elina was surprised by his words.
"Yes, I know it. Why?"
Arnold smiled meaningfully.
"Do you know what? All the products created by that trading house—including their innovations—are exactly like the things the Hero of Light once described to me."
Elina's eyes widened.
"...What did you say?"
