"Brother... Where are you? Why did you... leave me?"
Nolan, who had been sleeping, instantly opened his eyes.
The familiar ceiling of his room greeted him.
Beep!
Beep!
The sound of his phone alarm rang from beside him.
Nolan picked it up and turned it off before checking the time.
"Seven in the morning…"
He took a deep breath and slowly exhaled.
Glancing at Alice, who was still asleep, he smiled and gently pinched her cheek before getting out of bed and leaving the room.
"Good morning, Young Master," the servants passing by greeted him.
Nolan nodded in response. He walked to his study, sat down at his desk, and went over his work.
"Finally, it's all done. At least I have three days off ahead of me," he muttered with a relieved smile.
After tidying up his desk, he stood up and was about to head back to his room when he heard footsteps coming from outside.
Clack!
The door opened, revealing Seira's beautiful figure dressed in a light blue casual dress.
"Nolan!"
She suddenly rushed over and threw her arms around his neck.
Caught off guard, Nolan almost stumbled, but he quickly regained his balance.
"Why are you here?" he asked in surprise.
Seira buried her face in the crook of Nolan's neck, breathing in his masculine scent.
"I missed you so much, so I came early this morning to surprise you. Who would've thought you'd wake up before I got here?"
She pouted, clearly disappointed.
Nolan let out a soft chuckle and gently patted her head.
"All right, you did manage to surprise me. By the way, I haven't even showered yet. Get off me."
He tried to push her away, but Seira clung to him like an octopus.
"I don't care. You have to make up for all the time I've missed you!"
Nolan rolled his eyes helplessly.
But what could he do?
With the woman he loved being this stubborn, there was no way he could win. In the end, he could only give in to her.
Fifteen minutes later, Seira finally released him and took a few steps back.
"Go take a shower. You stink!"
She covered her nose and waved him away.
Nolan: "…"
He really wanted to pinch her cheek but quickly restrained himself and headed straight back to his room to freshen up.
As she watched Nolan leave, Seira smiled slyly.
Once she was sure the door was locked, she walked over to the sofa, where Nolan's jacket from the night before was lying.
She picked it up and brought it to her nose, taking a deep breath.
"Mhmm…"
The faint scent of Nolan still lingered on the jacket, making her shiver a little.
"That scent really does something to me…" she whispered shyly.
No longer caring about her surroundings, she lay down on the sofa and covered her face with the jacket.
…
The dining room...
"Hmmm? Why's your face red, Seira?"
Nolan, who was feeding Alice, asked curiously.
Seira quickly turned her face away.
"I-It's nothing. I just feel a little hot. Yeah, it's hot!"
She fanned her neck even though she wasn't sweating at all.
Nolan raised an eyebrow and glanced at the central air conditioner on the dining room ceiling.
The temperature was set to a comfortable 20 degrees. The room should have felt cool and refreshing.
Still, he didn't think much of it and asked bluntly, "So, what do you want? Why did you suddenly come to my house? It can't be just because you missed me, can it?"
Nolan knew Seira well. Although they were close, she wasn't the type to show up at his house without warning—unless there was something important she needed to take care of.
Seira pursed her lips.
"Am I only allowed to come over when I have business with you?" she asked sadly, tears welling up in the corners of her eyes.
Seeing that, Alice glared at Nolan in annoyance.
"Big brother, you're being really mean to Sister Seira!"
Nolan: "…"
Whether it was his imagination or not, Seira was really starting to remind him more and more of his older sister, Seira Lorian.
They both had a knack for teasing him.
Nolan waved his hand.
"Don't pretend. I'm serious, you know?"
Seira wiped away her fake tears and immediately broke into a smile.
"You take things too seriously. If you keep this up, you'll age much faster, you know?"
"Pffft!" Alice giggled at her words.
Nolan pinched her cheek and scolded her playfully. "Laughing at me, huh? Don't you want me to keep you company in bed tonight?"
"Ouch! Sorry, big brother! I was just kidding!"
Tears welled up in her round eyes as she looked at Nolan apologetically.
Nolan rolled his eyes, knowing she was only pretending.
Seira couldn't hold back her laughter.
"All right, Nolan, don't be so hard on your little sister. She was only joking."
Nolan released Alice's cheek with a soft chuckle.
"I feel like you're more like her sibling than I am."
"Isn't it obvious? I've been with Alice since before she was even born."
Her eyes flashed meaningfully toward Alice.
Realizing what she meant, Alice nodded enthusiastically.
"Mhmm! Sister Seira is always there for me!"
Nolan couldn't help but laugh.
The atmosphere in the dining room grew warmer as the three of them chatted, occasionally breaking into laughter.
"I came to ask you to go shopping with me."
"Shopping? How unusual. Is there an important event coming up?"
Seira puffed out her cheeks in annoyance.
"Did you forget? Carl's wedding is in fifteen days."
Nolan was stunned.
"Seriously? You want to buy your clothes now?"
"Typical guy…" Seira tapped her forehead. "You're underestimating how little time we have, Nolan. The sooner, the better."
"But—"
"No buts! I want you to come with me! Period, no commas."
Without waiting for his response, she went back to eating and completely ignored him.
Nolan let out a small sigh. It had already been a month and a half since he woke up from his coma, yet he still hadn't gotten used to his new routine.
"Fine. Whatever you say."
"Big brother, Alice wants to come too!"
Alice's eyes sparkled with excitement as she spoke.
Nolan pinched her cheek and shook his head.
"You can't. You have tutoring today. Be a good girl, and I'll bring you a present when I get back."
Alice pouted at his refusal. But the moment she heard the word "present," her mood instantly brightened.
She happily went back to eating breakfast, wiggling around in her seat.
…
"I've already contacted the clothing store at Atlantis Mall. You don't need to worry. I've already picked out some nice clothes for you."
"Of course, you're free to choose whatever you want. Don't worry. Your future wife will take care of the bill."
Seira pulled a black card from her purse and waved it around proudly.
Nolan burst out laughing at her antics.
He took her left hand, kissed the back of it, and whispered, "Thank you, my love. I'm in your care today."
Seira puffed out her chest proudly, making Nolan laugh again.
Nolan was about to say something when his gaze suddenly fell on someone walking leisurely along the sidewalk.
He was a handsome man with golden-blond hair.
"That guy…"
Whoosh!
The sedan carrying Nolan and Seira sped past the man.
"…Isn't that Rey Lionheart?"
