Evalyn managed to defeat Elyan using the Sanctum of the Hero, but her victory was short-lived. Elyan revealed that reinforcements from the Holy Empire of Valtanir had arrived, turning the tide of battle. Evalyn, despite her weakened state, killed Elyan. Meanwhile, Elyan's master, the Singularity of Light, sensed his death and vowed revenge. Evalyn realized she was now a target, but considered seeking help from the Singularity of Chaos.

"Evalyn, danger!"

Evalyn was startled.

"Huh? What's going on, Luminus?"

Before she could react, the Divine Sword of Luminus in her hand suddenly moved on its own and slashed to the side.

Boom!

A huge explosion sent Evalyn flying dozens of meters back. She slammed into the ground and rolled across the dirt.

"Argh…" she groaned, rubbing her numb arm.

Her face was covered in dirt and dust, and she looked like a complete mess.

"W-What exactly happened?" she asked in a panic.

She tried to get up but failed. Her legs felt incredibly weak and unsteady.

"An enemy attack, Evalyn. Stay on your guard. They're going to attack again."

Evalyn's eyes widened.

"W-What!? They're going to attack again!? Are you serious?"

Before Luminus could answer, the space around Evalyn suddenly began to shake violently.

A slash of light shot toward her at incredible speed.

The Divine Sword of Luminus moved on its own once more, parrying the incoming attack.

The impact sent Evalyn flying even farther backward.

"Argh!" she screamed in pain.

"I'm taking control of your body for now. Our enemy is incredibly powerful! Those attacks might be coming from the Singularity of Light!"

Those words left Evalyn stunned.

"T-The Singularity of Light!?"

Luminus had no time to answer. His soul immediately entered Evalyn's body and took control.

The pain that had been tormenting Evalyn suddenly vanished, and her strength returned.

Her eyes began to glow with a brilliant white light.

Whoosh!

Another slash of light shot toward her. This time, Luminus was in control of her body.

He leaped into the air and managed to dodge it.

Whoosh!

Two more slashes of light came at him at the same time, one from above and the other from below.

Realizing he couldn't dodge both, Luminus bent his knees and twisted his sword to the side.

Boom!

The clash caused a massive explosion that sent him flying backward.

Luminus spun through the air before finally managing to land on his feet. However, his hands were shaking, and his arms had gone completely numb.

'Damn… The Singularity of Light's attacks are incredibly powerful!' he muttered, unable to hide his fear.

Luminus knew that if he continued taking attacks like those head-on, his main body would eventually be shattered into pieces.

But fleeing wasn't an option either. The Singularity of Light's attacks weren't aimed solely at Evalyn. The imperial troops behind her were also in danger.

"I have no choice but to fight! Even if it means being destroyed!"

Luminus gritted his teeth.

Whoosh!

Another slash of light came flying toward him, even faster and more terrifying than before.

Boom!

He managed to block it, but the impact sent him flying backward again.

Whoosh!

Four more slashes of light appeared, coming at him from the front, right, and left.

Luminus was shocked. He leaped into the air and spun to dodge them, but all four slashes seemed to move on their own.

They followed his movements, spinning along with him before rushing toward him again.

"This isn't good!"

Luminus panicked and hurriedly parried the incoming attacks.

Boom!

His body was sent flying once more before crashing heavily to the ground. Black smoke billowed from his body.

The light in his eyes slowly began to fade.

"This is really dangerous…!"

Luminus gritted his teeth. He tried to move his hands, but Evalyn's body was already too weak and exhausted to move.

If he pushed her any further, her body might completely give out.

Luminus smiled bitterly.

"Evalyn, we're doomed."

Evalyn, whose consciousness was floating in the darkness, was startled.

"D-Doomed!? You mean we're going to die?"

Luminus didn't answer. His body turned into light and shot back into the Divine Sword.

Evalyn regained control of her body. The moment she did, excruciating pain spread throughout her entire nervous system.

Her face twisted in agony, turning as red as a tomato, while her body writhed uncontrollably like a leech sprinkled with salt.

"I'm sorry, Evalyn."

Luminus's apologetic voice echoed in her mind.

Evalyn gritted her teeth, trying her best to endure the unbearable pain.

A few moments later, the pain began to ease, though it didn't disappear completely.

"It's… okay," she replied weakly.

Cold sweat trickled down her forehead and neck.

"Is there really no other way?" Evalyn asked in a heavy voice.

"None. The Singularity of Light is incredibly powerful. Just surviving his attacks earlier was already a miracle. No matter how hard you try, it won't make a difference."

Luminus's voice was filled with bitterness and sorrow. But that was the harsh reality.

They could no longer withstand the Singularity of Light's attacks.

Evalyn felt helpless, unable to accept that this was how things would end. She didn't want to die so soon.

There were still so many things she wanted to do and so many experiences she wanted to have.

Boom!

The sky suddenly darkened, and a thunderous roar echoed through the air.

"W-What's going on!?" Evalyn exclaimed in shock.

The Divine Sword of Luminus began to glow with a faint white light.

"It's starting… the Singularity of Light's final attack!" Luminus shouted, his voice deep and serious.

Meanwhile, the battlefield had grown more chaotic with the arrival of troops from the Holy Empire of Valtanir. But suddenly, everything went silent.

Both the imperial forces and the Valtanir troops stared in shock at the enormous black cloud gathering overhead.

"W-What's happening!?" an imperial soldier cried out in fear.

The other soldiers had no idea what was going on.

However, the mages in the rear ranks could sense that a great catastrophe was about to unfold.

Boom!

Purple-gold lightning converged at a single point in the distance, gradually taking the shape of a massive trident five meters long.

Its deadly tip was aimed directly at Evalyn.

Seeing that, Evalyn's eyes widened in fear.

"No… We're really done for!" she cried out in panic.

She tried to move her body, but she couldn't. It felt as though all her strength had drained away.

"Evalyn, it's been a pleasure meeting you. You're my first master in a thousand years."

Luminus's words caught Evalyn off guard.

"W-Wait! What do you mean!?"

"I'll sacrifice myself to give you a chance to escape."

Evalyn's heart pounded wildly.

"Y-You—"

"There's no time!"

Buzz!

The Divine Sword of Luminus suddenly radiated a blinding white light.

"No, Luminus!" Evalyn shouted, desperately trying to hold on to the sword with her stiff, trembling hand.

But it was too late. Luminus slipped from her grasp and floated on his own.

At that moment, the lightning trident in the sky finally came crashing down, heading straight for her at terrifying speed.

Boom!
