Connor and Leon witnessed mages being saved from a colossal sword strike by ethereal strings. The sword destroyed part of the city wall, but most held firm. A hero-rank paladin general led his troops forward, joined by other hero-class figures. Alec's three heroes faced off against seven of the opposing side, with Connor immediately engaging the flaming paladin. Connor gained the upper hand, but a templar's shield attack forced him to defend. Sophia used a shadow portal to redirect the shield back at the templar. Connor then attacked the templar, disarming and kicking him, but the templar remained unfazed. The templar and Connor prepared for a more serious fight as the flaming paladin also regained his stance.

Following the breach in the city’s wall outer fortifications, the light class mage combatants flooded through the opening entering Alec’s main city.

His high-ranking heroes instantly clashed directly with the Paladin generals; and despite facing superior numbers, they held their ground effectively and appeared to have a genuine opportunity to claim victory.

Meanwhile, David alongside the four Holy Grail academy lords advanced swiftly toward the heart of Alec’s major territory.

Traversing the urban expanse, the sheer elegance of the surrounding structures left them increasingly astonished, as they had never seen houses that beautiful before.

Jealousy surged within them at Alec’s sheer luck, as they became convinced that such marvels of engineering could only originate from secrets retrieved within some forgotten ancient ruin; they were more willing to believe that’s the secret of how they were created than for them to believe that Alec had been responsible for their construction.

David Tudor on the other hand had intended to level every piece of infrastructure in their wake on their journey to the throne hall, as he hated everything that concerned Alec.

However, Julian and the Lightbringer brothers, who were already laying claim to the domain in their minds, vehemently refused his demands, even willing to go as far as to turn against David if the chance came rather than let him destroy such majestic edifices.

A few of them even began to feel that their own palaces paled in comparison to the structures before them, and that mere thought crossed their minds that if the standard residences in Alec’s territory possessed such splendor, then his palace would undoubtedly surpass anything they could imagine.

“Lord David, we cannot bring ourselves to destroy such magnificent structures. Who knows what secrets of their creation we might uncover? For now, we should leave them intact.” These were the precise arguments they employed to persuade David to abandon his destructive intentions.

Although David feigned compliance, however; he remained resolute in his intent to tear the buildings down. He was merely going along with them for the time being, recognizing that their cooperation was essential if he was to secure victory over Alec.

Despite his newly acquired strength and the fact that he knew that Alec was supposed to be at his most vulnerable currently, David still remained extremely cautious.

Refusing to believe that Alec would enter such a state without contingency measures in place; the light shield that surrounded the palace, he reasoned that it was simply the safeguard visible on the surface.

“Welcome.”

A voice drifted into his ears, snapping him out of his thoughts, however. As he raised his gaze and gathered his composure, he noticed that everyone around him had frozen as if they had seen a ghost.

And that was because a lady clad in chitin armor had materialized out of nowhere right before them, and the lingering aura of at least ten other figures pressed heavily upon the surrounding area.

Having already attempted to extend his mental sense only to find it completely blocked, Julian was forced to address her directly.

Trying to recall if she is one of Alec’s golems, he asked, “Are you one of Alec’s Golems?”

“Well, aren’t you a sharp one?” the Hive Queen said with an eerie smile, tilting her head to the side in a display that sent a chill through the watching Holy Grail Academy lords.

“Of course I am one of Master’s Golems, and before you ask the next question, my name is Hive Queen, and I would love nothing more than to slay every last one of you myself. However, Master instructed me merely to stall you, so do be dear and wait a few minutes.”

“How dare you—?” Gabriel blustered, preparing to challenge her and test her power, however; before he could step even a foot forward, a sharp snap echoed through the air, as the Hive Queen had stylishly raised her left hand and clicked two of her fingers together.

Instantly, strands of milky-white webbing materialized around him, which seemed tethered to two Archanos perched on opposite nearby buildings as they were pulling firmly on the air.

Although the Archanos appeared to be tugging on an invisible rope in midair, tracing the direction of their hands revealed that it converged on Gabriel who was at the middle point and was struggling frantically to break free from the webs surrounding him.

Panic seized the remaining lords, as they scrambled to retreat, however. Another soul-striking snap echoed through the air, and with almost magical precision, every click of her fingers seemed to ensnare another target in the web.

“Hmph, petty tricks. I’ll take your head before moving on to your master,” Julian scoffed, his left hand easing his blade slightly from the hilt to expose a small section of the steel.

From that narrow gap, a flash of light-blue blade Qi blasted out severing the strings binding him. Yet, Julian was the only one that seemed capable of breaking free.

For the others, no matter how much mana they funneled into their defenses, the strands only tightened—gradually inflicting real harm.

Just as they began to feel like prey caught in a snake’s suffocating coils, a light voice echoed through the air:

“It seems there are a few stronger ones among you after all. Perhaps this will actually be fun.”

Noticing that someone had managed to break free, the Hive Queen kicked off the air and closed the distance in an instant, swinging her right leg toward Julian in a fierce arc.

Julian, who had been attempting to assist his allies in escaping the troublesome webs, was forced back onto the defensive, since he was unwilling to risk exposing his back to such a dangerous opponent, he swiftly unsheathed his blade to block her strike, only to realize far too late that a single kick wasn’t all he should be expecting.

A barrage of kicks then came in a furious flurry, escalating until it no longer felt like he was defending against a single leg, but a relentless multi-legged assault.

Julian had been expecting the trailing images of legs to be mere illusions, so he was waiting for the real attack, hence he made the mistake of ignoring the trailing after image kicks, only for him to be taught a harsh lesson when every fading leg connected with full force.

Shattered by the impact, he plummeted towards the earth, however just meters before slamming into the ground he realised that everything just turned still, he then turned and caught a brief glimpse of the terrain beneath him as the sharp sound of stretching tension filled the air.

Before he could process the view, he was catapulted violently back into the sky, as it turns out there were strings below too under the control of the Arachnes which makes them indirectly part of the hive’s queen quasi domain.

The moment he reached his previous peak height, a devastating overhead kick met him, sending him crashing diagonally back to the earth and plowing a destructive path through the buildings below.

However, as time ticked away, David who was still tied seems to have grown tired of maintaining his guise of a weakened mage in the presence of Julian and the other Holy Grail Academy lords.

With every passing second and no progress in their invasion, his anxiety mounted, convinced that Alec was drawing ever closer to completing his breakthrough.

Fragments of distorted space enveloped him. In the next instant, the seemingly unbreakable webs tore away from his body like a fragile thread.

“And here I thought you would keep up the charade a little longer—perhaps until I pierced you with one of my blades,” the Hive Queen remarked, pushing off the air to glide backward as gracefully as if she were stepping across solid ground.

“You are nothing more than a pest created by a much bigger pest,” David snapped, extending his right hand to unleash a spatial spell:

Yet, just as the magic began to take form, a voice echoed from within the throne hall before them, coinciding with the gradual lowering of the light shield.

“And to think I was wondering how I’d track you down, only for you to walk straight into my hands to die,” Alec’s voice echoed across the area.

The Holy Grail Academy lords, who were just freshly freed after Julian had stealthily returned back to the air and sliced through their bindings, all heard Alec’s words loud and clear.

“You’ve already broken through and stabilised your realm? No... that’s impossible!” Sensing immediate danger, David instantly spun around to make a desperate attempt at fleeing.

Though he tore open a rift in space to escape, he was instantly dragged right back to where he started as Alec’s voice rang out once more:
