The Golem Mage Chapter 1236: New Entree To The Battle [2].

“I need you guys help; I can’t do this alone,” Lucas said, addressing the two fellow Blades clansmen with whom he had established a domain with.
However, Kaelus Blade clearly had no intention of offering support, as he made no effort to disguise his intentions on his face.
“As much as I want to help you, my dear brother, you must understand the reality of the situation,” Aeron Blade began speaking.
“Not only is almost everyone from the five kingdom realm aligned against your former captain, but he is also likely to fall soon. I simply do not view this as a wise move, as we might be attacked after he falls. Furthermore, opposing the alliance attacking him would place us in direct conflict with another member of our own clan.”
“You should know better than anyone that we are forbidden from fighting among ourselves, that goes against the path the clan has set for us, we are all currently building a foundation that will allow the clan to establish a kingdom of its own.” Aeron continued his explanation,
“Oh, so if I fight, it means I’m being inconsiderate of Cassandra, who’s running around with her friends from the Holy Grail Academy?” Lucas retorted, his voice rising.
“Did she consider that Alec Gordon is my friend too and stay out of it? Let me give you the answer: no!”
“Yet you both expect me to just let it go. I’m sorry, but I can’t,” Lucas announced, standing up from his chair with his intention to leave clear.
“If she can move against Alec to support her band of friends from the academy, then I will move against her by supporting him, who is my friend. And if our paths cross, I promise to give her a swift death.”
He then bowed toward Aeron, who was seated nearby, and toward Kaelus, who sat upon his throne.
“You dare disregard a direct order from me?” Kaelus declared, standing up from his throne, as he released his Low Tier 7 aura, attempting to force Lucas to his knees. However, Lucas—who had also just reached the High rank realm unleashed his own aura in response.
As he turned to face Kaelus with a deep frown on his face, their opposing pressure collided violently in the center of the room, triggering a deafening explosion and a devastating shockwave.
Lucas then began to reach for his broad greatsword strapped to his back, as hed remarked,
“I see. So you’ve known about this for a long time. Just answer me one thing: are the two of you part of this alliance against Alec and his clan?”
“I am not involved in the alliance,” Aeron answered without hesitation.
“And what if I am? That Alec kid needs to be eliminated before it’s too late, the only rule for gaining power in this new realm is conquering others, and your former captain has already far outstripped the rest of us. If he isn’t stopped now, and a day comes when we must all fight for total supremacy or control over our homeland, none of us will stand a chance against him.”
“Tell me, could your army single-handedly take down two opposing armies?” Kaelus asked Lucas, as the real motive behind the crusade against Alec finally dawned on Lucas, making his expression darkened even further.
“However, that former leader of yours is not only capable of taking on multiple armies single-handedly, but he can also defend against simultaneous invasions across his territory. It’s precisely because he is so formidable that we cannot afford to spare him. I’m sorry, but he must be eliminated.”
“And while I may not be joining the forces marching against him, make no mistake: stepping out of this hall to aid him means defying the direct will of the Blades clan, as the old Patriarch himself wants him dead too,” Kaelus answered his own question, realizing Lucas was lost in thought and unlikely to respond.
Lucas’s expression darkened instantly upon learning that the Clan Patriarch might be personally behind this order to stand down, he knew full well that following the merger between the lesser realms into the Origin Realm, those who held the title and seal of City Lord could establish contact with other City Lords across the human-controlled domains of the Origin realm, provided they shared the same bloodline.
And since Kaelus had been the one contacted rather than Lucas or Aeron, any distortion of the truth on Kaelus part would be impossible for Lucas to verify.
Yet, weighing everything his clan had provided against all that Alec had done for him, Lucas reached a clear realization: remaining loyal to a clan that treated its descendants as mere expendable guards was simply not worth it.
“So be it. From this moment onward, nothing ties me to the Blade clan any longer,” Lucas declared, as he reached into his robe with his left hand, he drew out his clan token and hurled it directly at Aeron.
The metallic token sliced through the air, coming to a rest right in front of Aeron, as Aeron caught it, his hand trembled in utter disbelief, unable to fathom that Lucas would abandon his own clan for a single individual who came from a mid-tier clan.
The more Aeron pondered it, the less it made sense, he had previously assumed that Lucas only respected Alec because he was a powerful mage and members of the Blade clan loved testing themselves against stronger opponents.
Yet, this action of his alone proved to Aeron that there was far more to it than that.
[? High Tier Skill - Blade Form - Cleave. ?]
The instant Lucas turned his back on them, Kaelus summoned his Aether blade, coating the weapon in a dense, superior blade Qi.
Behind Kaelus, the phantom image of a translucent sword materialized, hovering in the air like a sword monarch gazing down upon all lesser swords.
With its appearance, the blade Qi surrounding Kaelus’s weapon expanded significantly, growing sharper and longer as he brought it down in a swift, vertical strike.
Lucas, who was only a few paces from leaving the throne room, clearly sensed the incoming attack, however; he showed no sign of panic at all, as he summoned a strange looking rune-engraved staff and brought it against the pommel of his greatsword, setting off a magical transformation.
The staff and greatsword seamlessly interlocked with a series of distinct clicks, merging entirely into a single weapon.
“[? High rank skill—” Lucas began, enunciating each word with deliberate calm as thin arcs of crackling lightning slithered across his body.
The electric currents surged toward the edge of his newly formed glaive, igniting the blade with a brilliant, intense glow.
“—Blade Form - Slash.?]”
Without wasting another word on Kaelus, Lucas gripped the fused glaive with his left hand and spun around, delivering a powerful backhand swing, which caused a crescent-shaped wave of pure lightning to tear through the air, driven by an immense charge of destructive force.
Boom!!!!
