The Orcs launched a multi-pronged assault on the city, using a siege tower to breach the walls and overwhelm the sword golem defending the archers. While the Amazon Archer Queen struggled to defend against the relentless waves of Orcs and a devastating trebuchet attack, the central wall section finally collapsed, creating a large opening. Just as the Orc commander ordered a full charge, a mysterious freezing wind heralded the arrival of a new, unknown army.

With the Orcs launching such an aggressive move, the two hundred warriors under Bulwark immediately created space for the other two hundred soldiers behind them to pass through, by leaving one by one lines between them.

The moment this happened, Glacius issued an order, as the Boar Rider Orcs looked as though they would reach them at any moment due to their loud battle chants, even when they were still a distance away.

“Lances raised!”

At his command, every warrior raised their lance to shoulder level, gripping it firmly around the middle of the shaft.

They formed four lines of fifty soldiers each taking up all the space in the one line street they were approaching from, with those in the front line positioned to withstand the initial impact.

“Shields raised!”

At the second command, they raised their left arms, which were secured to the straps behind their shields, their lances now rested against the upper edges of the large knight-like shields before them.

However, Glacius was not finished yet with his commands, he gazed ahead and still found the Boar Riders a few distance away before the collision with his soldiers would occur, and he called for another formation.

“Double Shield Formation!”

At once, the warriors positioned in the second and fourth lines raised their shields and overlapped them with those belonging to the soldiers in the first and third lines.

They placed the upper ends of their shields within the gaps created by the shields ahead of them while those that were there were already locking their shield together with those beside them.

Once the formation had been completed, Glacius levitated slightly behind them to gain a clearer view of the battlefield and properly supervise the battle mages under his command.

He then thrust one hand forward, signalling them to advance across the street over to the clearing where the orcs were coming at them from.

With thunderous shouts, the battle mages charged.

Their marching speed was considerably slower than that of the Boar Rider Orcs, but that was because they were doing everything possible to preserve the formation.

They advanced one measured step at a time, refusing to break the Double Shield Formation, when the Orcs finally entered attacking range and saw how slowly the warriors were moving, they all smirked, believing this would be one of the easiest battles they had ever fought.

Many of them raised their axes before cleaving down toward the shields of the advancing warriors.

Valeria remained atop the city wall, protected on both sides by the surviving forces around her.

She, Saint, Titan and the Orc commander watched the approaching confrontation with bated breath, waiting to see how it would end.

Clang!

Puchi!

However, what happened next was completely different from what the Orc commander had envisioned, he had imagined his Orc riders smashing straight through the shields and demonstrating their overwhelming strength.

The problem was that they had underestimated the group of human battle mages that were dressed in beast-fur armor. At first glance, they resembled nothing more than fishermen or villagers who had been hastily transformed into makeshift soldiers and handed shining shields.

The Boar Riders slammed directly into the shield formation.

And at the exact moment their axes descended, the human warriors thrust their lances through the narrow openings just a little between their interlocked shields, while at the same time, they coated their shields with Qi.

Since the warriors possessed water affinity as their primary element and ice manipulation as their secondary affinity, the Qi surrounding their bodies naturally carried the properties of those two elements.

This time, they chose to channel their water affinity.

With hundreds of warriors standing within the formation and covering their interconnected shields with the same elemental Qi, the combined effect transformed into something resembling a large-scale spell capable of influencing the entire battlefield.

Glacius called out the technique as a layer of liquid-like water spread across the entire front of the shield formation.

Because of this, when the Orcs’ axes came crashing down, they failed to cleave through the shields as effortlessly as their commander had expected.

Instead, the force behind their attacks was completely absorbed.

It felt as though they had struck something thick and slimy, and their weapons became trapped within the liquid barrier, making it extremely difficult for them to pull their axes free.

The Boar Riders charging behind them had expected the front line to continue advancing without interruption.

Instead, they crashed directly into the riders ahead of them, causing a minor accident within their own formation as several Orcs and their mounts were struck or cut by the weapons of their allies.

Fortunately, the Boar Riders farther behind finally realized that something was clearly going wrong at the front, and they swiftly adjusted their movements to avoid crashing into their allies, as doing so would only result in even more unnecessary injuries.

However, while all this was happening, the battle mages under Glacius were not having an easy time either, the immense weight pressing against their formation was gradually taking its toll, and many of them had already begun grunting from the strain.

It was not only the Orcs pushing against them; the tremendous strength and weight of the boars had also been added to the pressure bearing down on their shields.

Had they not been able to merge their Qi and create such a tightly controlled formation skill, they would have already been trampled and pierced by the Orcs, even with two overlapping layers of shields protecting them.

Nevertheless, they continued holding their ground.

They endured all the weight pressing down upon their left arms while waiting patiently for Glacius’s command.

“Pierce these fuckers!” Glacius finally delivered the order they had been waiting for, as the warriors immediately coated their lances in ice Qi before thrusting them through the narrow openings created by their overlapping shields.

“Ahhh-hoo!”

They released a strange battle chant as their weapons shot through the gaps, the Orcs in the front line had their axes and the heads of their boars trapped within the stubborn water barrier, leaving them completely unprepared when the ice-coated lances pierced through the liquid surface at incredible speed and plunged into their stomachs.

For many of them, it happened instantaneously.

They were unable to process what was happening until they felt the lances buried within their bodies suddenly change shape, with three additional blades protruding from the sides of each weapon.

The warriors under Glacius then twisted their lances, inflicting even greater pain upon the Orcs, they then pulled their weapons back and thrust again.

Pull and pierce.

Pull and pierce.

They repeated the movement until the first group of Orcs and their boar mounts had been completely slaughtered, relieving some of the pressure against the formation.

Then the warriors marched forward and began driving their lances into the second line, far behind the battling forces, Titan stood atop a tall building with Saint beside him, observing everything from above.

“What’s the next move, brother?” Saint asked.

“We cut off the head of the snake,” Titan replied. “It’s clear that these Orcs will become much easier to kill once we eliminate their commander. But to do that, we first have to separate him from the rest of his army.”

“That’s why I’m waiting for my captains to create an opening for me to enter the battle,” Titan explained, continuing to watch the battlefield with rapt attention.

Saint could hardly understand what Titan meant.

However, as he continued observing him, he noticed that Titan had suddenly become much more engrossed in the battle, with a look of excitement spreading across his face.

This caused Saint to turn his attention toward the area where a stalemate appeared to have formed between the newly summoned battle-mage forces and the Orcs.

That was when he realized that the first defensive line—the two hundred warriors under Glacius, had finally succeeded in pushing the Boar Rider Orcs backward and forcing them out of the narrow street area where they had engaged.

With more space now available, the remaining eight hundred summoned battle mages, who had been standing guard behind the lance-and-shield unit, seized the opportunity to charge forward from both the left and right flanks.

They immediately began cutting into the Boar Riders from both sides.

Seeing this, the Wolf Riders also rushed forward to join the battle.

From where he waited, the Orc commander ordered most of the Orc Berserkers surrounding him to advance and clash with what they believed to be the last remaining human force.

Even Valeria, the Amazon Archer Queen, and the surviving defenders from the city walls had managed to fight their way through and join the group controlled by the captain ranked ice golems.

The battlefield had now shifted into a large roundabout square, and at its center stood a massive fountain surrounding an enormous statue of Alec Gordons.

By now, the water within the fountain had already been stained completely red with blood, at that exact moment, Titan turned toward Saint.

“We make our entrance now.”
