The Golem Mage Chapter 1062: Patches And Beatrice Final.

~5 minute read · 1,154 words

“If you continue employing tactics like that, I’ll barely endure for three minutes; currently, five minutes stands as my utmost boundary,” Beatrice grumbled, evidently displeased that he had unleashed the poison beam upon the Earth Takeda when simpler approaches would have worked just fine.

As she occupied herself with reprimanding him, the Wind Takeda had begun directing the airflow to steady the airborne Water Takeda, who continued to appear distressed.

“I must concede, I didn’t anticipate a person like you driving me to this extent. Yet evidently, continuing the fight in this manner isn’t feasible for me,” the Wind Takeda declared while lowering himself, intentionally widening the gap between them.

“Then attack me!” Patches shot back, brandishing his sword, unleashing a huge crescent-shaped surge of Qi from the edge that hurtled towards the Wind Takeda.

However, in contrast to before, his face stayed composed, nearly determined.

“Regarding this fight... I concede defeat, despite potentially claiming victory in the end.” The Wind Takeda stated, gazing directly at Beatrice, obviously she had compelled him to reveal far more than he desired.

[> High Tier Spell – Wind Gate. <]

Right away, the Wind Takeda invoked the advanced spell, his features paling immediately from the exertion, though his color brightened a bit after the portal materialized fully in his rear.

The elite mages observing grasped the reason for the visible flows of Mana drain; he had ingeniously spread it across his additional forms, with portions even fueling the invoked portal, and since five elite Tier 6 casters shared the burden, it became evident they could unleash multiple high-level incantations.

Nevertheless, he had more in store, for the Water Takeda touched down next to him, still grimacing from the injury to his limb, and jointly they started weaving hand signs that left most onlookers puzzled as to their purpose.

At this point, the whole audience fixated on the pair of Takedas, anxious to witness their ultimate technique, with numerous viewers already guessing that the Wind Gate signaled the Wind Takeda's plan to call forth the leftover Takeda figures, given his admission of loss, everyone sought deeper significance in his statement.

Indeed, they believed that if a duo failed to clinch triumph, perhaps a quartet could, particularly factoring in how Beatrice's mana depleted rapidly.

For the majority of watchers, the contest was starting to resemble less of a one-on-one clash and more a test of stamina.

Yet, as the crowd immersed in guesses about the Takedas' forthcoming actions, nobody foresaw the ensuing development, for Takeda's initial aim had always been straightforward: compel a swift concession, or, when cornered to unveil certain techniques, he intended to force capitulation from their foe.

By then, the Qi blade had traversed the halfway mark and rapidly approached the surviving duo of Takedas.

All anticipated fresh forms to appear from the Wind Gate, yet nothing of the sort occurred.

Rather, the pair of Takeda figures disintegrated into vivid blue-green specks of power, much thicker and stronger than typical mana bits, and these vital essences collided with immense velocity, prompting flesh to swiftly reconstitute from the impact.

A delicate haze enveloped the emerging shape, seemingly on purpose to conceal his bare form as the rebuilding proceeded swiftly.

Bang!

At last, the sword Qi connected, delivering no gentle blow; out from the vapor emerged a gem-like hand encased in a watery shield barrier that thrust forward to halt the assault, though it couldn't fully halt it, instead of flying back like prior times, his heels gouged deep furrows into the platform as he slid rearward.

From the third VIP level, the Northern King clenched his jaws tightly. Nearby onlookers figured he fumed over the War God Mage Academy's strong showing—considering his well-known aversion to them, after all.

However, they erred entirely. His annoyance had nothing to do with the institution—it stemmed from the battleground venue.

The mist at last dispersed, unveiling Takeda's reformed physique, now a tad loftier than previously, his shinobi garb utterly transformed, edged with rippling azure and turquoise-green tones, indicating he persisted in spirit gear ensemble state, and it left the assembly bewildered as they comprehended that the outfits from both Takedas had fused into an innovative ensemble.

The Kusarigama wrapped snugly across his torso, a single katana hung at his side with the other secured on his back, his pupils spun in a Taijitu motif, one portion shimmering azure akin to water, the other turquoise-green resembling wind.

Upon his complete manifestation, the throng sensed the atmospheric tension alter, the emanation he projected matched that of Patches positioned opposite.

“Hoo... Marionette Girl, I don’t think I can keep fighting without casting spells now, at least I would have to coat each of my strikes with Qi,” Patches whispered, angling his head faintly for Beatrice to catch his words and grasp that the confrontation had grown far more complex.

Bang!

Uttering not a syllable, the freshly united Takeda surged ahead. No lofty declarations. No dramatics. Merely raw velocity.

The viewers stood aghast, for the combined entity exuded the vibe of a Low Tier 7 mage as he advanced.

[> Mid Tier Skill – Iaido <]

With seamless grace, he unsheathed the katana from his left hip via his right grip and performed an ascending diagonal cut, its swiftness such that numerous casters failed to notice the sword's departure from its scabbard until the enhanced wind blade trailed it, boosting the Qi.

Patches countered without delay, wielding his Qi-infused sword to parry the blow, sending the wind-augmented Blade Qi soaring aloft before it smashed into the protective barrier.

Clang!!!

Prior to the crowd absorbing the clash, Takeda loomed before him, delivering ceaseless cuts. Blow followed blow in quick sequence, every aimed to disrupt Patches’ footing.

Each time Patches tried to retaliate, Takeda blocked and advanced once more, holding the advantage and denying any respite.

Occasionally, he whirled the Kusarigama's sickle, yet upon closer inspection by the audience, they noted the alteration, for he had modified his armaments since the Kusarigama's chain at its tip now linked to his katana's handle, forging a fused-style armament.

As the skirmish prolonged, he unleashed incantations unseen from him previously, ones that appeared as blends of wind and water affinities.

Tempest eruptions that soared akin to wind-pressurized water projectiles, hydro blasts, which manifested as sharp aqueous streams crafted via the wind control principle of the wind blade incantation, mirroring even the invocation method.

Patches matched accordingly, summoning earthen projections and venom rays while the pair battled intensely throughout the field. Amid the fervor, both combatants displayed subtle grins, evidently relishing the trial.

Yet roughly three minutes passed before Patches’ presence abruptly waned, as Beatrice collapsed into unconsciousness.

Her lapse severed the mana stream upholding him, causing his frame to rigidify and his power to plummet steeply to mere physical might, and soon after, he found himself overpowered and vanquished.
