The Glorious Evolution Chapter 450: Grant me Release, I Beg of You...
Previously on The Glorious Evolution...
The Titan’s lids twitched in annoyance. 'So, all that was spoken signifies nothing?'
Even Levi inclined his head in refusal, not entirely content with the conclusion... Within their minds, if Nocturn perceived the anomaly, it equated to the system discovering it. Consequently, Levi and the Genie were doomed.
But then, Ash’Kral emitted a peculiar chuckle.
'Old Bark... have you already forgotten what sort of entity Nocturn is?'
'Hmmm?'
The Titan’s brow furrowed briefly. His memories of his past life before the war were still hazy; he could barely recall anything associated with himself, let alone others' eccentricities.
Observing his bewilderment, Ash’Kral shook his head and declared with unwavering confidence, 'Levi, you needn't concern yourself with Nocturn personally... Your paramount worry is, and always will be, the System. Even though it bears his name and was conceived by him, the System answers to the Administration as a collective, which operates under the mandate of...'
Before he could conclude his statement, Levi interjected with a chilling tone, 'Nocturn, the Radians/Oblivars, and the two Primordial Trees of Life/Death.'
'Precisely.'
Levi couldn't fathom why Ash’Kral vouched for Nocturn's non-interference if he had discovered Levi's actions, but he was certain of one fact.
Nocturn maintained minimal to no engagement with the network, platforms, or the public; he remained as enigmatic as ever, and despite all occurrences throughout the platforms' existence, no one had ever witnessed him intervene in any matter... at least, not publicly.
Nonetheless, Levi harbored reservations.
'How can you be so certain he won't contact me or betray me?' Levi queried, a frown etched on his face.
Ash’Kral chuckled, finding the question somewhat amusing.
'If Nocturn is the sole entity aware, then... you may continue your existence without impediment,' Ash’Kral smirked. 'After all... all his actions are nothing more than a commercial undertaking.'
'Commercial undertaking?'
Levi raised an eyebrow, realizing Nocturn's connection with the Primordial Trees might not be as 'intimate' as he had presumed. It wasn’t solely him; everyone believed Nocturn and the Primordial Trees shared a profound bond.
'Nocturn may collaborate with the Primordial Trees and their adherents to orchestrate their conflicts, but it remains a simple business deal stemming from a contract,' Ash’Kral elaborated. 'He is quite detached... Should your predicament capture his attention, the most he might do is laugh in amusement and disregard it. Entities of his caliber are not easily distracted... even if it involved liberating an Omnithar Genie.'
'And yet... you chose to withhold this crucial information? What? Do you find pleasure in making me appear foolish?'
Levi's brows knitted coldly; his Sun persona remained as commanding as ever. Earlier, Levi had opted against freeing the Genie in the Boundless Expanse, fearing Nocturn's scrutiny.
However, if Ash’Kral’s account proved accurate, freeing the Genie in the Boundless Expanse was equivalent to doing so in the Chained Universe. Even the Golden Bracelet and Collar would pose little obstruction, as they all understood their function was to penalize Genies deviating from protocol.
The Nocturn System held the true authority and would instantly report any infractions upon discovery.
Ash’Kral had overheard Levi and the Titan discussing this matter previously... yet, he remained conspicuously silent, as he often did.
'There was no benefit in discussing it then...' Ash’Kral shrugged, unaffected by Levi's tone. 'I needed to ascertain if the Genie possessed a genuine strategy or was merely wasting our time.'
As was his nature, Ash’Kral divulged information only when it served a purpose... whether Levi approved or not was of no concern to him.
Comprehending that arguing with him was futile, Levi redirected his focus back to the Genie.
'Had we proceeded with this, you would cease to exist,' Levi stated indifferently as he resumed playing the melody. 'You would remain concealed from all, yet bound to me for eternity... How is that freedom? It is merely another manifestation of servitude.'
His pride wouldn't permit him to accept a subordinate bound to his will simply because it felt cornered; whether an Omnithar Genie or an Ancestral Tree, The Sun welcomed disciples, not thralls.
The Omnithar Genie remained silent for several moments... its obsidian, mirror-like mask perfectly mirrored Levi’s incandescent form. Though lacking eyes, it seemed capable of perceiving far beyond the superficial.
It grasped Levi’s inference... If he were to take it along, he would expect nothing less than unwavering devotion. Omnithar Genie or not, it would become his follower, and he would only accept it if it willingly consented.
Nevertheless... the Omnithar gave a single, decisive nod of its massive head, signifying its agreement.
Then, it transmitted a complex mixture of emotional frequencies, coalescing into the most extensive and lucid declaration it had ever uttered:
<The System has granted me eternity devoid of purpose... All else is my freedom. Let these inscriptions represent my vow; I belong to you... by my own volition.>
A faint, genuine hope followed, its clarity as vivid as freshly fallen snow, needing no translation from Levi.
<I implore you, grant me release...>
"Your wish is my command..."
Levi lowered his violin, setting its base on the floor. He then conjured the Lantern of the Lost Keeper, holding it aloft before the Genie.
Ordinarily, Levi would meticulously analyze every possible outcome, his approach typically far too analytical.
But under the influence of his Sun Form?
"The Sun embraces all who are determined to follow its radiant path," Levi proclaimed, his voice resonating with an undeniable, captivating pride.
He extended his hand towards the colossal entity, decreeing his wish with the absolute authority befitting a deity:
"My desire is for the Omnithar Genie to be liberated from its physical bonds and transmuted into conceptual Iithorien Inscriptions... May its essence intertwine with the Lantern of the Lost Keeper's technique, eternally binding its existence."
Without a moment's hesitation, the Omnithar Genie assented to the wish. Its immense, star-dusted form began to waver and dissolve, transforming into a dense cloud of iridescent mist.
The mist coalesced swiftly, spinning and sharpening into luminous threads of light. These threads wove themselves into countless ancient symbols – the Iithorien Inscriptions!
These millions of ancient symbols pulsed with immense power as they spiraled towards the Lantern.
However, the transformation was not without struggle; the golden chains and collar flared with sudden, potent energy.
They whipped out, unleashing waves of agonizing force through the mist, attempting to compel the Genie's form to remain whole!
The torment was so severe that the Iithorien Inscriptions momentarily lost their definition, breaking back into mist... yet, the Genie persevered through the pain, driven to fulfill the wish!
"You dare defy my command? You presume to wield my own power against my will? How audacious!"
