El revealed to Zhan Lichuan and Du Yanzheng that Eddie killed their grandfather to seize control of the Hess family, having investigated the matter for five years. He confessed his desire for their mother Jiamo to lead the family, believing it ensured her place there forever. El detailed how Eddie forced Jiamo to resign her position, marry Du Bo, and be removed from the family tree after she refused an arranged marriage.

“Jiamo was a kind-hearted girl. Even though she had been cast out from the family, she chose to reside not far from us. She figured that without any inheritance in sight, no one would regard her as a foe. But one of her subordinates leaked the news about their breakthrough in the gene lab experiment.

“On that day, Jiamo returned home to see our mother. Our father seized the opportunity to target Du Bo and Du Yanzheng. When my subordinates arrived to assist, Du Bo managed to flee. Ah Chuan hadn't been born yet at that time, and the three of you were apart for roughly a month. Your parents reunited only after my grandmother and I relocated all of you to a small town.

“Since my mother and I intervened, our father stopped pursuing Jiamo. Yet, years later, he discovered from one of Jiamo’s assistants that the experiment had succeeded, but Jiamo and Du Bo destroyed it. Furious, he dispatched men to your location.

“To extract the details from Jiamo, he seized Du Bo. Jiamo took a bullet to the heart while attempting to rescue Du Bo, and by the time I got there, it was too late.”

Zhan Lichuan and Du Yanzheng stayed silent.

“Jiamo perished in my embrace. Our father had dispatched most of his forces after your father, leaving him short-handed.

El wore a chilling smirk, “I seized my father and injected him with a toxin that Jiamo created in the lab. You might doubt me, but security footage from Jiamo’s lab exists, and I can play it for you.”

Suddenly, the screen displayed the actual events from back then.

In reality, their father Du Bo was conducting the experiment when intruders burst in. As gunfire erupted between them, their mother arrived with reinforcements from their grandfather.

Their parents had their own guards, but they paled against the Hess family head's power.

Du Bo was no fighter, whereas their mother excelled in combat.

Once she freed her husband, she yelled, “Grab the children and escape!”

Du Bo knew lingering would only hinder them. He bolted from the room, shouting, “Stay safe! I’ll wait for you with the kids!”

As Du Bo made to flee, enemies moved to block him, drawing Jiamo’s men toward him too.

With Du Bo exiting the room, his outside guards prepared to whisk him away. But their father whipped out a pistol and fired at Du Bo on impulse.

Jiamo, locked in battle, had no choice but to charge toward the gun barrel.

It seemed Du Bo sensed it. As Jiamo blocked the shot for him, he glanced back.

Still, he kept running.

All he left was a heartbreaking wail.

Meanwhile, El showed up with his team.

The foes aimed to chase Du Bo, but El’s arrival shifted the tide.

The loyalists Jiamo inherited from their grandfather upon his death remained devoted solely to her, even after she left the Hess family and their father assumed control. Witnessing their father slay Jiamo, they slaughtered the remnants and took the new patriarch prisoner.

El cradled the gravely wounded Jiamo, panic-stricken. He urged the lab staff to treat her, but she rejected any aid.

She handed her followers to El, instructing him to safeguard her kids.

Then, Jiamo shut her eyes for good.

El tenderly laid her down and draped his coat over her form.

Eric, their father, glared in rage at his daughter's death by his hand, yet his fury peaked at his son El’s disloyalty.

“Why are you detaining me?! This is rebellion! Release me!”

But El’s men gripped Eric tightly.

“El, these are my subordinates, and you’re my son! How dare you treat your own father like this?!”

Evil glinted in Eric’s gaze, mingled with dread.

El had set Jiamo down. Rising slowly, he confronted his father, seizing his jaw to silence any retort.

“A father? Have you ever acted like a proper father to us?”

Even Jinqian, viewing the footage, found El utterly menacing.

Eric nodded, terror evident.

He tried to talk, but El’s grip on his chin prevented it. No words escaped.

El nodded too, declaring, “You were never a decent father while Jiamo lived. Now that you’ve murdered her, be a good father in death—care for her properly.”

Eric's eyes widened in utter disbelief.

El gestured to his men, and one promptly handed him a syringe.

Eric struggled desperately, but the men beside him clamped down on him with iron grips, leaving him utterly immobile.

The needle stabbed into Eric's neck, and as soon as the syringe was fully depleted, violent seizures overtook him.

They released their hold on him at last, yet he could no longer speak a word.

El fixed his father with a frigid stare, witnessing his life force fading away bit by bit.

“Jiamo had already stepped down as the next family head for your sake. You even erased her from the family registry. She contributed so much to the family, yet you refused to set her free?

“Satisfied now with the way events unfolded? Jiamo is gone forever, and nothing threatens your command anymore. Still, you'll savor this triumph for just mere minutes. Those you craved? You'll never lay eyes on them again.

“Father, I heard you aimed not only for Hess family head but also to vie for the nation's top seat? In the end, you've just thrown away your life so another could claim your throne. How does that sit with you?”

Eric had always been a tyrannical powerhouse.

Power as the family head consumed his every thought.

That obsession drove him to slay even his most cherished daughter, all for unchallenged supremacy.
