Lucas discerned Bradley's vengeful intent and the potential backlash from the powerful Hills family if he let him go freely. To avert endless harassment and assassinations against his loved ones, Lucas forced Bradley to swallow a slow-acting poison requiring antidotes every two months solely from him. He warned Bradley against any retaliation from the Hills while offering possible support for his ambitions as helmsman.

Bradley clenched his teeth tightly, reluctant to respond to Lucas.

Thank you readers!

Yet with his life firmly in Lucas’s grasp at the moment, he didn’t have the guts to defy him. In utter shame, he could only mutter, “Alright, I understand.”

Regarding Lucas’s promise to assist him in becoming the helmsman of the Hills, Bradley didn’t dare trust it or even ponder it.

Surviving without being killed by Lucas was already a blessing. How could he possibly hope for Lucas’s aid?

Yet Lucas’s words were no mere jest.

With Bradley now firmly under his thumb, it made perfect sense for the Hills to fall into Bradley’s control. Handing it to someone beyond his influence would demand far greater effort from Lucas.

Once Bradley was handled, Lucas shifted his attention back to Rayson, who lay collapsed on the ground. Spotting the disgusting puddle of liquid under Rayson, he furrowed his brow in disgust.

After witnessing even the esteemed Bradley Hills refuse to challenge Lucas anymore, Rayson was terrified beyond measure, his entire body trembling violently.

He quickly dropped to his knees and kowtowed desperately, heedless of his dignity. “Mr… Mr. Gray, I was wrong! I shouldn’t have disrespected you, nor harbored those wicked thoughts against you. Please spare my life and grant me one more chance!

“I admit I was far too bold and deserve death, but I beg you to let me go, Mr. Gray! I-I’ll transfer the twelve billion dollars in compensation immediately! I was wrong. Please show mercy and forgive me!”

Looming over the kneeling Rayson, Lucas gazed down coldly and demanded, “Rayson Williams, count for yourself. From our very first encounter up to this point, how often have you provoked me? How many times have you groveled for mercy? And how many chances have I already extended to you?”

Lucas’s words instantly choked off Rayson’s desperate pleas, as though an invisible hand had seized his throat.

Their initial meeting had occurred at the funeral of the Howards’ previous patriarch. Back then, Rayson and Derek, the ex-helmsman of the Piers, had arrived to carve up the Howards’ assets, now led by the newly appointed Florence. Instead, Lucas had humiliated them thoroughly.

That marked the first occasion Rayson had knelt before Lucas, imploring for his life.

Subsequently, he had crossed Lucas again over his idiotic son Cody’s pursuit of Maddy. Then came another offense involving Nicholas, a remote Williams relative, and his fiancée.

Followed by his multiple acts of treachery against Lucas…

As memories flooded back, cold sweat drenched Rayson’s face and body.

It finally dawned on him that he had antagonized Lucas endlessly. Lucas had shown mercy repeatedly before, but now, he had no more tolerance or justification to do so!

Pale and ashen-faced, Rayson fixed his gaze on Lucas, clinging to a faint hope as he begged piteously. “N-no… Mr. Gray, I… I know you’re a kind man. You’ve overlooked my offenses over and over. Could you please give me just one more chance? I swear I’ll never act foolishly again or betray and provoke you!”

“Do you, of all people, deserve my endless forgiveness?” Lucas scoffed mockingly. “I’ve pardoned you repeatedly, but you’ve failed to learn from it. You’ve twisted my leniency into a license for recklessness.

“Do you truly believe a few insincere kowtows and pleas will absolve you?

“While I might overlook isolated errors, you’ve long forfeited any right to my mercy.”

With icy resolve, Lucas declared, “Prior to arriving here, all I sought was six billion dollars from you, yet you plotted my demise. What reason do I have to spare you now?

“Rayson Williams, it’s time for you to perish!”

Bang!

Rayson’s eyes and mouth gaped wide in shock. He appeared desperate to plead once more, but no further words would escape him.

Thud!

Rayson’s corpse slumped lifelessly to the floor, utterly deceased!

The sight left Bradley breathless in horror.

Lucas had ended a life with a mere casual kick. Had Bradley not been a Hills scion, his fate might have mirrored Rayson’s exactly.

A torrent of terror raged through Bradley’s heart, deepening his dread of Lucas exponentially.

As Lucas’s eyes turned toward him, Bradley hastily blurted, “Uhh… M-Mr. Gray, that vile scum Rayson Williams dared betray you repeatedly. His death was long overdue!

“I… I fell for his lies too. He kept goading me, claiming he’d been wronged. That’s how… that’s how I ended up offending you. Please forgive me!

“Regarding the Williams family’s wealth, I won’t claim a dime. I’ll hand it all over to you to deal with! It’s Rayson Williams’s debt to you, so you’re the best one to manage it!”

Bradley swiftly pulled out a thick bundle of papers. These were the very transfer documents handed to him by Rayson, complete with signatures and official seals, though Bradley himself hadn't added his yet—perfect timing to hand them over to Lucas.

Once Lucas put his signature on those transfer papers, every single asset of the Williams family would become his possession forever. The Williams would vanish completely from the ranks of DC's eight greatest families!

Lucas gave the documents a quick look before grabbing them with a laid-back “Okay”.

Rayson had stabbed him in the back time and again, sealing his own doom. Lucas felt zero remorse in seizing control of the Williams’ wealth.

“Alright, you can go now.” Lucas shot a glance at Bradley. “You’re sharp enough. Keep today’s words in mind. Don’t pull any moves that’ll let me down or leave you full of regrets.”

His statement served as both a gentle nudge and a stern caution.

Bradley’s heart jolted wildly; he bowed his head fast and replied, “Yes, I’ll never forget! So… may I depart now?”

Lucas releasing him without hassle only deepened Bradley’s conviction that the eerie dark green pill forced down his throat by Lucas was genuine deadly poison.

Yet on the bright side, Lucas had promised the toxin would strike only once every two months. Until then, all he had to do was head to DC for the antidote straight from Lucas!

“Get going. Don’t forget to drag this lackey of yours along.” Lucas nodded toward Merkin sprawled on the floor.

“Yes, Mr. Gray. I’m off right away!”

With great effort, Bradley hoisted Merkin’s limp form and staggered away from the Williams’ estate.

At the same time, Lucas dialed Jordan on his phone. “Rush over to the Williams’ manor with your crew and seize full control here. The Williams family ends in DC starting today!”
