Lucas stormed the Williams residence, effortlessly defeating waves of guards as he advanced toward the main villa. Inside, Rayson Williams hosted Bradley Hills, who mocked the family's weakness and commanded his top expert Merkin to confront the intruder. Lucas burst in and sat down, demanding the six billion dollars Rayson owed him.

Chapter 1389: Recruitment

Thank you readers!

Bradley squinted his eyes. The instant Lucas stepped into view, his stare remained glued to him. He yearned to scrutinize precisely what manner of youth this was, the one who struck terror into countless DC families.

On first look, though, Bradley detected no extraordinary qualities in Lucas. Standing tall with a sturdy frame and striking features, he lacked any expert's imposing presence. Rather, he resembled a typical everyday individual.

Yet Bradley swiftly revised his opinion.

He noticed Lucas had merely cast a casual glance their way, at him and Merkin, as though they were mere strangers on the street unworthy of attention. Such nonchalance stood out sharply.

Merkin ranked among the Hills' top five powerhouses, exuding a dreadfully intimidating aura. Ordinary folks would quake instantly upon sighting him, their knees buckling so they couldn't stay upright.

Even seasoned martial artists would experience dread and tension facing Merkin, their faces inevitably shifting, never staying as composed and at ease as Lucas.

Clearly, this youth, appearing several years his junior, possessed genuine prowess—be it exceptional courage or authentic capability.

The question remained: how long could he hold out against Merkin?

Rayson eyed Lucas, forcing down his inner terror, and declared, “Mr. Gray, I don’t remember ever owing you any money.

“You must already know the man beside me is Mr. Bradley Hills, the top prospect among the third-generation direct heirs of the prestigious Hills royal family. He's primed to helm the Hills someday!

“Right now, I've pledged myself fully to Mr. Hills, and every asset of the Williams, our entire fortune included, now belongs to him!

“Want money from me? You'll have to pry it from Mr. Hills himself! Bully me all you want, but Mr. Hills is beyond your reach! Take my advice—don't seek your own doom. Scram now, or you won't even get a whole body later!”

Lucas glanced at Rayson, lips curving into a sudden smirk as he chuckled. “Rayson Williams, you figure you've latched onto a mighty patron, so now you speak to me in this tone?”

Through clenched teeth, Rayson retorted, “What if I have? Lucas Gray, I've put up with you far too long! You strut around DC on your martial prowess alone, unchallenged so far, infuriating everyone who stays silent out of fear!

“But today, with Mr. Hills bringing a Hills elite powerhouse, think you can still stand against them?

“Keep up your arrogance, and this day marks your end!”

Having burned bridges with Lucas completely, Rayson dropped all pretense and spoke his mind outright.

“Impressive. You've certainly grown bolder. Want my life? Show me if you can take it.” Lucas kept smiling, utterly unperturbed.

“You must be Lucas Gray?” Bradley interjected abruptly, his expression lighting up with curiosity toward Lucas. “I admire talent, so here's your two options now.

“Option one: swear loyalty to me, serve under me, and aid in seizing control of DC. Once I take the helm of the Hills, you'll be richly rewarded. Cash, riches, women, power—name it, it's yours.

“Option two: spurn my offer and perish right here!

“What's your pick?”

Lucas showed no response to this. But Rayson's pulse raced, tension gripping him fiercely.

He never imagined Bradley would try recruiting Lucas into his fold!

Impossible!

Rayson had surrendered the Williams' every holding without qualms, becoming Bradley's subordinate willingly, all to gain the Hills' shield. He sought their might and warriors to eliminate Lucas, dodging future vengeance.

But should the Hills enlist Lucas instead, what fate awaited him?

At Bradley's ultimatum, Lucas arched his eyebrows in mild astonishment.

Truth be told, Lucas had sensed oddities brewing in DC for ages. Strangely, none of the nine royal US family branches dared flex openly there to claim territory. Else, a hub like DC wouldn't fall under mere eight top families' sway.

Bradley evidently eyed Lucas's strengths for just that purpose—to dominate the capital. One had to admit, Bradley brimmed with ambition and audacity.

Still, anyone fit to command Lucas's allegiance likely hadn't drawn breath yet!

Lucas had planned to turn him down right away, yet upon seeing the look of utter worry and anxiety on Rayson’s face, as if he feared Lucas might truly accept Bradley’s invitation, he shifted his decision.

Lucas intentionally gazed at Rayson before questioning, “Mr. Williams, about these two options from Mr.

Hills, which do you believe I ought to pick?”

Rayson’s face froze stiffly, leaving him clueless on how to reply.

Naturally, he wished Lucas would join Bradley’s side. No, he hoped Lucas would foolishly refuse Bradley, thus provoking him and getting slain by Merkin.

Yet despite these inner thoughts, he could never voice them aloud with Bradley present, particularly since Bradley now held some regard for Lucas and aimed to enlist him.

“These… these options come from Mr. Hills. Naturally, the decision rests with you. How does it concern me?” Rayson replied with clear discomfort.

Then, as if worried his words might offend Bradley, he hastily continued, “Naturally, for someone of Mr. Hills’ stature, submitting to him would be the wise move.

“Anyway… I now serve under Mr. Hills. Should you swear loyalty to him, we’d become fellow subordinates, and past grievances could be forgotten. Right, Mr. Gray?”

As he spoke, he stole a quick glance at Bradley to gauge his reaction.

Lucas sneered coldly. “Forget our past? Rayson Williams, you’re clearly delusional. You’ve betrayed and enraged me multiple times. What makes you think I’d simply overlook it all?”

Cold sweat poured from Rayson as he stammered quickly, “Lucas Gray, don’t push too far! Are you planning to kill me right in front of Mr. Hills? I’m his subordinate now. He won’t permit it!”

“Is that so?” Lucas laughed lightly while turning to Bradley. “Well then, Mr. Hills, I’ll submit to you, but first, you must give me Rayson Williams’ life. Which will it be?”
