Gu Qingheng and Ming Guang navigate a treacherous swamp, aided by a gold snake. Emerging from the fog, they are attacked by a small white weasel. The gold snake defends them, injuring the weasel, but it escapes when its master, a man named Flame, summons it with a flute. Cornered at a cliffside, Gu Qingheng confronts Flame, who reveals his intention to capture Gu Qingheng for his herbalists.

Flame found himself under unexpected attack the moment Gu Qingheng spoke, forcing a hasty defense. However, instead of Qingheng's assault, he was thrown off balance by an elder who surged forward. His heart constricted, and he quickly shifted his focus to engaging Ming Guang. But since this wasn’t the true Flame, his abilities were significantly weaker than Ming Guang's. After a fierce exchange of dozens of moves, a powerful strike from Ming Guang sent him hurtling backward.

A spray of blood instantly stained his mask.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Xiaobai suffered another relentless bite from the golden beast, appearing unable to break free. Ultimately, it could only lie motionless on the ground, mirroring its master's fate.

"You are not Flame," Gu Qingheng approached, his voice sharp. "Let Flame come forth to see the General."

"Don't even dream of it," the imposter Flame scoffed coldly. "Our Master is not someone you can simply demand an audience with."

"Wasn't it your message that proposed the exchange of the Huaka Tribe people?" Qingheng tilted his head slightly. "Or was that a misdirection?"

"Have you brought the King's Seal of Miaojiang?"

Gu Qingheng offered no response.

"If you haven't, then you've come here only to meet your end."

"What about this, then?" Gu Qingheng suddenly produced an ancient silver thumb ring.

"How do you possess our Young Master's token?"

"That's not something you need to concern yourself with," Gu Qingheng replied with a smile. "I wish to meet Flame."

The disguised man struggled to regain his footing, retrieved a flute, and blew a few notes with all his might.

Soon, the sound of long whistles echoed from an unseen direction.

A signal was being sent.

"Please, follow me." The man offered a smile, casting aside the fallen mask. He then leaped off the cliff's edge.

Gu Qingheng's brow furrowed as he observed the cliff, shrouded in a thick fog that obscured the bottom. The fact that his opponent dared to jump suggested a landing point existed not too far below. Yet, he couldn't shake the feeling of a potential trap. He valued his life too much to gamble it away heedlessly.

Still, having journeyed this far, turning back was not an option.

Reaching into his backpack, he retrieved a rope. While it might not reach the very bottom, it would at least allow him to assess the situation beneath the fog.

He secured one end of a grappling hook to the rocky shore and, holding the other, began a rapid descent into the abyss.

From above, it appeared as mere fog, but after descending a short distance, he noticed jutting rocky ledges on the cliff face. Releasing his grip, he landed smoothly on one of the stones. To his surprise, a stone pathway lay just below.

Anyone with decent Qinggong skills could easily make their way onto this path.

Ming Guang swiftly followed him down.

Following the winding path upwards, which circled roughly half the mountain, the terrain finally opened up, revealing a grand gate guarded by several members of the Flame Sect. They showed no surprise at Gu Qingheng and Ming Guang's arrival and instead proactively opened the gate for them.

Proceeding inside, they entered a hall.

"General Gu, I have been anticipating your arrival for some time," said Flame, rising from the seat of honor.

"The primary challenge was finding your location; it's quite secluded," Gu Qingheng commented with a smile.

"But you found it nonetheless, did you not?"

"Purely by chance," Gu Qingheng replied.

"Haha..." Flame chuckled heartily. "General Gu is truly direct and forthright."

"Your manner of speaking sounds familiar," Gu Qingheng remarked, raising an eyebrow slightly. "Do we know each other?"

Flame paused, offering no immediate response. After a brief silence, he suddenly stood. "A guest is a visitor. Permit me, Master, to escort General Gu on a tour of our Flame Sect's headquarters."

"I would be honored," Gu Qingheng nodded in agreement.
