Guan Danian refused a marriage proposal for his son, Qingshu, fearing the other family's scheming ways. Guan Tongshi suggested finding a study companion for Qingshu's trip to Beijing, leading them to consider asking Yang Ruxin for help. Guan Danian agreed, sending Guan Tongshi to approach Yang Ruxin as a first step. Guan Qingyue, wanting to mend her relationship with Yang Ruxin, convinced her mother to let her accompany her.

Upon the arrival of Guan Tongshi and her daughter, the Yang Family was in the midst of their evening meal.

"Let them wait in the living room," Yang Ruxin instructed nonchalantly, continuing her meal at a leisurely pace until she was satisfied before proceeding to the living room.

"Xinxin!" Despite her dislike for Yang Ruxin, Guan Tongshi adopted a forced smile for her son's sake.

Guan Qingyue also rose to her feet, but a sense of guilt seemed to prevent her from meeting anyone's gaze.

"Aunt Guan, it's rather late for your visit. Is there a particular matter you wish to discuss?" Yang Ruxin inquired with a pleasant tone.

"It's about this," Guan Tongshi quickly placed the eggs on the coffee table. "I heard about your pregnancy, so please accept this small gift as a token of our goodwill. We hope you won't find it offensive."

Yang Ruxin let out a soft chuckle. "Aunt, I appreciate directness. While we are not enemies, you've never held me in high regard, and I don't particularly care for you either. So, let's dispense with the pleasantries. What is it you require?"

Guan Tongshi seemed momentarily taken aback, her expression clouding slightly.

"Yang Ruxin, why must you be so blunt?" Guan Qingyue couldn't help but interject. "We are all neighbors; you..."

"Silence!" Guan Tongshi's voice suddenly boomed. "If you cannot conduct yourself properly, you can return home."

Guan Qingyue pouted but remained standing. "I will wait for you in the courtyard then." She stuck her tongue out at Yang Ruxin before dashing outside.

"Xinxin, that girl has been rather spoiled by me," Guan Tongshi offered with an apologetic smile.

Yang Ruxin simply smiled in return, offering no further comment.

"You are correct; dwelling on past grievances now would serve no purpose," Guan Tongshi decided to be upfront. "I am here today to request a favor. You see, Qingshu is heading to Beijing, but he will be traveling alone without anyone to look after him, so..." she trailed off with a sigh. "I know you have a transport team destined for Beijing; could you possibly let him join them? We will, of course, cover all his expenses for food and lodging."

"If he is not in a particular hurry, we will have a team departing for Beijing at the beginning of March," Yang Ruxin replied without hesitation, nodding. "As you know, Xiaoxiang is getting married, so our departure is set for the first of March. If Guan Jieyuan wishes to accompany them, he may do so on that day, and I will ensure space is made for him."

"You... you are agreeing?" Guan Tongshi appeared genuinely stunned.

"And why wouldn't I agree?" Yang Ruxin's smile widened. "It is merely a small favor."

"Th-thank you!" Guan Tongshi stammered, visibly flustered.

"You may take the eggs back with you; we have no need for them," Yang Ruxin announced, standing up to signal the end of the conversation.

"It's only proper to offer eggs as a courtesy, given your pregnancy and our neighborly status," Guan Tongshi insisted, waving her hand. "I shall take my leave now."

Guan Qingyue had retreated to the courtyard earlier, but finding herself unobserved, she began to wander towards the outer yard. The well was located there, and just as she approached, a man appeared, inquiring, "What are you doing?"

"I... I am just taking a stroll," Guan Qingyue replied, casting a quick glance at the man before stepping back, a pout on her face.

However, she was reluctant to abandon her plan. The well was within reach, and if she could just pour the contents of the bottle into it, Yang Ruxin would be no more. She wondered why the man was still lingering.

"Uncle Hai." Just then, Sini and a few other children ran over. "Didn't you promise to make grasshoppers for us?"

"Certainly." Wang Hai then turned and followed the children away.

A sudden wave of delight washed over Guan Qingyue. The heavens themselves are aiding me, she thought. Hurrying towards the well, she pulled out her bottle, but just as she was about to act, a sharp sensation, like a sting, struck her wrist. The bottle slipped from her grasp, falling to the ground and rolling away into the distance.
