Yang Ruxin furrowed her brows. "Get up," she ordered, then cast a glance back at Du Chengxiu.
"What's going on?" Dong Wenxiu and Feng Zilan hurried out as well.
Yang Ruxin merely shook her head.
Yang Ruohuai rose to his feet.
Du Chengxiu had already summoned two men to head outside.
"Ruhuai, what happened?" Dong Wenxiu turned to Yang Ruohuai.
Suddenly, Yang Ruxin burst out, "Aunt..." and described the entire fight.
Dong Wenxiu could only let out a heavy sigh.
Just then, Du Chengxiu came back with men bearing a door panel. Yang Peili lay atop it, coughing a few times and even hacking up blood, his appearance utterly horrifying.
Dong Wenxiu knitted her brows while staring at Yang Baichuan and the rest trailing behind, waves of profound disappointment surging in her heart.
However, that group all kept their heads bowed low, staying utterly silent.
"Go fetch Yang Rusong," Yang Ruxin directed. "Carry this fellow to the wing room in the back courtyard first."
The checkup showed two fractured ribs. It hadn't been that bad initially, yet those folks lacked knowledge and aggravated the damage while transporting him. Thankfully, the lung avoided puncture.
Yang Ruxin properly reset the bones and bound them tight, then fed the elderly man a Medicine Pill to heal his internal wounds.
Yang Peili continued keeping his eyes shut.
"I can tell you're awake." Yang Ruxin stood there observing Yang Peili. "This wound won't claim your life, but it'll cause you plenty of pain—you'll have to stay bedridden for some time."
Yang Peili finally opened his eyes. "Xinxin, I feel too ashamed to face you."
"There's no connection between us anymore. I'll deduct your treatment fees from your grandson's debt payments." Yang Ruxin's lips curved slightly. "Rest up now."
As he watched Yang Ruxin depart, Yang Peili heaved a sigh before shutting his eyes once more.
Yang Baichuan and his group waited in the courtyard, forbidden from stepping into the room.
"Big cousin, how's Grandpa?" Yang Rusong arrived just as Yang Ruxin emerged.
"Two ribs fractured." Yang Ruxin shot an indifferent look at the out-of-breath youth. "Fortunate the lung didn't get pierced, or we'd be preparing a funeral instead."
Yang Rusong breathed out in relief, then whipped around to his father. "Dad, what happened to Grandpa?"
"This..." Yang Baichuan faltered right away, clueless on how to respond. Could he confess his wife and sister brawled and toppled his own dad?
"Speak!" Yang Rusong bellowed sharply.
Feng Caie and Yang Baihe cringed back, too afraid to make a sound.
"Rusong, relax, it was only an accident." Yang Baichuan managed an awkward smile. "Seriously, no need to worry..."
"Yang Rusong, this is my house. Settle your family business back home." Dong Wenxiu cut in abruptly. "Xinxin must rest now—no more disturbances."
"Aunt, apologies, we'll head back at once." Yang Rusong reined in his fury and nodded, yet he still shot an apologetic glance at Yang Ruxin. "Big cousin, with Grandpa in this condition, can you watch over him for a few days?"
Yang Ruxin's gaze flickered. "Stay here at my place?"
"I'll come get him once Grandpa recovers."
"Fine." Yang Ruxin nodded. "I'll also tally up the care expenses."
Yang Rusong nodded back. "I'll repay them all."
"Yang Ruxin, how can you act so heartless?" Yang Baihe could no longer hold it in. "He's your Grandpa too—why demand payment?"
Yang Ruxin glanced her way. "Do I need to remind you again that we've cut all ties with you old house folks?"
