Boss Yu simply offered a thin smile. "Do I really seem that honest on a normal day?"

Chi Chi gave a skeptical grin. "You make yourself sound so noble. You just got lucky that neither of them were decent men. What would you have done if my cousin had met a true gentleman?"

At those words, a sharp, cold glint flickered briefly in Boss Yu’s eyes. "There aren't many upright gentlemen in this world." Even if there were, very few could resist the right temptation.

Chi Chi felt a wave of concern. "My cousin is a simple little white rabbit. Won't you just bully her to death in the future?"

"I will never bully her," Boss Yu replied with sudden, heavy seriousness.

Seeing him so solemn was something Chi Chi wasn't used to.

Chi Chi stared at him for a long moment, his voice dropping an octave. "You had better keep that promise, or I won't let you off the hook."

"Thank you."

With another snort, Chi Chi pulled his donkey to a halt.

He glanced back at the three carriages filled with betrothal gifts that Boss Yu had brought along. Then he looked over at Shao Wen, who had been ordered by his parents to accompany the group to Feng County. Finally, he cupped his hands in a salute. "Anyway, just keep your word. I'm taking my leave now."

Chi Chi did not intend to travel all the way to Feng County. His reason for leaving the city was to fulfill a two-year-old promise made to Song Yan.

He was heading for... the country of Li.

It was the nation he had always been curious about and longed to explore.

He signaled to Yi Hai behind him and then addressed Shao Wen. "I’m off. Farewell."

Once they parted ways with Boss Yu’s party, Chi Chi and Yi Hai picked up their pace significantly.

His mother had tasked him with inspecting the status of the workshops while he was passing through.

Chi Chi assumed the identity of a traveling merchant to tour the facilities. The workshop scale here was massive, with a workforce nearly as large as the one in Yongfu Village.

Because the Gu and Duan families had funded the construction of several roads in recent years, Jingping County had grown exceptionally prosperous.

He eventually met with Steward Pei and later visited the Gu Ji shop in the county seat to see Cheng Xiaosong and his wife. Finding everything in order, he was satisfied.

After that, he packed his gear and moved toward the border with great excitement.

The moment he finally stepped onto the soil of the Li Kingdom, Chi Chi spread his arms wide and shouted, "Brother, I’ve arrived!"
