The Dragon Lord's Aide Wants to Quit [BL] Chapter 474: There She Was
Previously on The Dragon Lord's Aide Wants to Quit [BL]...
Disheveled, bloodied, and definitely banged up.
The figure before him looked nothing like the celebrated beauty and treasured daughter of the Dravaryn clan who had once captivated so many dragons of their generation.
And yet, those vindictive and unrelenting eyes definitely belonged to the very same woman who had driven him, a dragon who should’ve had an incredibly bright future, into the dark abyss he currently found himself in.
Had it not been for her stupidity, constantly playing hard to get and repeatedly provoking him by choosing that insolent Orryn over him, he never would’ve had to act as rashly as he did.
Had that bitch simply acted as she should’ve, none of this would’ve happened.
Maybe the two of them could’ve risen together as the elite dragons they were always meant to be.
But now?
Look at him.
Then look at her, still running alongside Lady Cirila as though she had every right to stand beside the Dravaryns after everything she’d done.
How could someone like her still be allowed to enjoy all the privileges of belonging to a powerful dragon clan when her existence had been the reason someone as good as lost everything?!
The more the exiled red dragon thought about it, the more those old grievances came rushing back.
And with grievance piled upon grievance for far too many years, how could he possibly let this go?
Now that this woman had finally returned, she had two choices.
Either Ilyss came with him and helped fix everything she’d ruined...
Or she would have to pay for making his life a living hell.
The deposed red dragon heir roared through the skies, his massive form hurtling directly toward Ilyss, who was sprinting straight for him in her human form.
Meanwhile, from a distance, another red dragon stared at the horizon littered with all sorts of beings and genuinely couldn’t believe his eyes.
In truth, what had Orryn scrambling to return to Wyrmfall as fast as physically possible wasn’t only that massive structure suddenly populating the sky.
Because around the same time that enormous tree had appeared, he’d felt an unexpected, sharp tug from something he was certain he could never mistake.
His mating bond.
Filled with immense worry over the suddenness of it all, Orryn could only hope to reach wherever that feeling was pointing him as fast as his wings could carry him.
But even after feeling that distinct pull, he’d honestly tried convincing himself that maybe it was simply a mistake.
Because as much as he desperately wanted it to be true, how could someone like Orryn possibly receive everything he could ever want in life?
He’d already gotten his son back.
Could he really be lucky enough to get back too?
And yet, as Orryn neared Eryndra’s newest landmark, his own eyes could only confirm what his dragon heart had somehow figured out seconds earlier.
She was here.
Truly here.
Unfortunately, the woman currently running across the ruined ground didn’t seem to be running toward Orryn.
She was sprinting straight for someone he’d almost completely missed simply because his entire being had immediately fixated on his wife.
!!!
Every single one of Orryn Vathros’ instincts fired the moment he realized who it was.
How could he ever forget the bastard who’d torn his family apart?
And apparently, that monster still wasn’t satisfied with everything he’d already done, because after all these years, he was still coming after his wife!
The furious red dragon had been extremely careful about accessing his mana as Riley and Thyrran had instructed.
At that moment, however, every single warning went straight out of his head.
Orryn pulled on as much mana as he could possibly muster, forcing his already desperate body even faster as he rushed to catch up to the bastard who, if he had anything to say about it, would never see the light of another day.
With his entire body engaged, Orryn prepared to hurl himself straight into the other red dragon.
Except, to his utter shock, he hit nothing but thin air.
Orryn turned violently.
Only to see the red dragon he’d been preparing to attack already crashing into the ground behind him with enough force to produce a deafening boom.
And before Orryn could even reach the crash site, a furious voice screamed through the dust.
"Don’t you fucking say my name! Matter of fact, how about you don’t breathe from now on, you son of an actual bitch!"
Orryn froze.
Then, to the stunned Vathros’ complete disbelief, that relatively lithe figure came barreling down with one fist drawn back before smashing it directly into the fallen red dragon’s head.
The dragon on the ground struggled furiously, opening his jaws as red flames gathered in his throat in an attempt to burn the woman off.
And yet, the unexpected being before Orryn only snarled down at the grounded dragon, looking as though she’d somehow found every remaining ounce of strength in her battered body just for this moment.
"You dare try to burn me with flames as pathetic as your dick?!"
Not that those red flames would’ve done much against a golden dragoness anyway.
But the bastard never even got the chance to breathe them out properly.
Ilyss’s clawed hands, still coated in her own blood, suddenly clamped around his throat.
And perhaps under normal circumstances, that shouldn’t have been enough to do much against the naturally hardened scales of another dragon.
Except there was nothing particularly normal about Ilyss’s blood anymore.
Some of that very blood had passed through the Primordial Dragon’s body.
So when her claws tightened, those ordinarily durable red scales practically burned beneath her fingers in a way that would’ve scared any ancient dragon.
Ilyss squeezed.
Hard.
And from the side, Orryn could only stare.
He’d thought about this moment so many times.
Since the day he had regained his memories, Orryn had imagined countless versions of what meeting her again might be like. Those dreams had always felt so vivid that every single time, he’d genuinely believed their imaginary reunion couldn’t possibly become any more perfect.
But clearly, he’d simply been missing her too much whenever he imagined those things.
Because who would’ve thought that the reunion that truly made the most sense, the one that felt more real than anything Orryn could’ve possibly dreamed up, would involve those very same lips he’d missed for so long suddenly shouting at him from across the dirt?
"Orryn! Get your shit together!"
The red dragon blinked at the source of such words and felt his world stop for a good second.
Disheveled.
Bloodied.
Banged up beyond belief.
And yet, in the eyes of one momentarily stunned Orryn Vathros, there was genuinely no other woman more perfect than the one currently beating the living shit out of another dragon with her bare hands.
Right.
This.
His beloved was most definitely back.
