The Corruption Dragon God: Lust System Chapter 959 - Final preparations
Previously on The Corruption Dragon God: Lust System...
The command center of the Celestial Spear was silent.
Only the low hum of the spacecraft filled the air, along with the cold light of the panels spilling over the large round table in the center of the room.
Twelve great geniuses—arrogant and powerful—surrounded that table, none of them saying a word.
Joining them were the leaders of the Nine Great Sects and the patriarchs of the Three Great Families. Beside them sat two commanders of the United Orthodox Army, two grand elders of the Orthodox Martial Alliance, and two more elders representing the many smaller sects and families.
The mere presence of so many figures of that caliber gathered in one place was enough to make the air feel heavy.
Tianjin sat right in the center. The seat to his right was empty, reserved for his daughter, while the one to his left awaited Qingyi.
Yuehan already occupied the seat beside it, her back straight and her hands folded in her lap, waiting in silence.
"Dad!"
Qianyao rushed past Qingyi without sparing anyone else a glance and threw herself into her father's arms.
Tianjin's serious expression melted into a smile at once.
He rose to greet her, wrapping his daughter in an embrace full of paternal love and gently running his hand through her white hair.
Ignoring everyone like that was a bit disrespectful, but seeing how happy she was in her father's arms, no one really said anything.
Besides, Qianyao was a highly respected figure in her own right, though not quite as much as the Divine Sword Fairy.
Her mother had been one of the most important fairies in the fight against the demons. Many of the elders present had once been in love with her, back before Tianjin claimed her for himself.
Seeing Qianyao so beautiful—almost a spitting image of her mother—drew nothing more than a stifled sigh from many of them. Some lowered their eyes for an instant, lost in old memories.
The talented young masters—generals handpicked by Qingyi—also admired her for a brief moment, but soon decided it was wiser to keep their eyes to themselves.
No one wanted to make her uncomfortable, especially since it was rare for Qianyao to show herself at all. She spent almost all her time inside the mind world of the Heaven-Defying Thunder Sword, which Qingyi and Yuehan now shared.
Only after clinging to her father for a few more seconds did she let go and take the seat to his right, the smile never leaving her face.
Qingyi took his place between Yuehan and Tianjin. He rested his hands on the table and said not a word, his eyes sweeping coldly over everyone present.
Some of the young masters unconsciously straightened their backs as that gaze passed over them.
Qingyi, too, was already a legendary and respected figure among them. The man who had killed a Celestial General!
Tianjin cleared his throat, and any trace of gentleness vanished from his face.
"It's good that everyone is here."
His voice was calm, yet it carried easily through the silent room.
"It will be a war of fifty million against fifty million, all young people from the Stellar Sovereign Realm and below."
He tapped the table lightly. A bluish light rose from its center, and a hologram took shape in the air, displaying a map of the region. The pale glow washed over the faces around the table.
The entire planet consisted of a single supercontinent, crisscrossed by large rivers and lakes, with a few islands scattered along the coast.
"Our fortress will be here." His finger touched a spot on the map, and it lit up in gold.
Then he rotated the hologram with a flick of his hand and tapped another region on the other half of the continent.
"The demonic fortress will be here."
A second point lit up, this time in dark red.
"Each side will have a thousand fortresses scattered across its half of the continent, and the resources have been divided equally as well. Everyone will receive a minimum amount of equipment and supplies, and from there, they must fight among themselves."
As he spoke, small points of light began to dot the map—a thousand on each side—covering the continent from end to end.
"The war will end when the central fortress falls, when more than ninety percent of a faction's secondary fortresses are taken, or when the entire leadership of one faction is wiped out."
"Each of the outer fortresses will start with ten thousand soldiers. The rest will remain in the central fortress, which may reassign them as needed."
"When you arrive in that world, you'll find that the primordial laws there are much stronger, and flying with Qi will be far harder. But you'll be provided with vehicles for transportation, and the roads between the fortresses have already been prepared."
Tianjin and the command group had gone over that explanation several times already. In truth, every one of the young masters in that room—and throughout the entire ship—had heard all of it from the elders before.
Even so, they paid close attention, their eyes following every point that lit up on the map.
Finally, after about ten minutes, Tianjin, the Immortal Golden Dragon Emperor, concluded his explanation.
The part about having difficulty flying left more than a few of the young geniuses irritated.
They could still fly—even at their top speeds—but it would consume far more Qi to do so. After all, flying with Qi meant overcoming the resistance of the primordial laws that governed gravity.
Still, those artificially strengthened laws served a purpose.
Normally, a battle between dozens of peak Stellar Sovereigns could easily destroy a planet like that.
It wouldn't be pleasant at all if they ended up destroying the entire planet in the middle of the war.
Of course, even so, its surface would likely end up almost completely devastated anyway.
"Any questions?" he asked once more, scanning the table.
No one said a word. Only the hum of the ship filled the silence, and he continued.
"Good. You will spend the last twenty days before descending to the planet in secluded cultivation. You will have no contact with any young demons until the day you are sent into combat."
He planted both hands on the table and looked at them one by one.
"Your minds must be clear, and your cultivation must be stable. Understood?"
The twelve youths rose at once, and Qingyi rose with them, slamming a fist against his chest. The sharp sound of the blows echoed through the room.
"Yes, Lord Tianjin!" they all declared in unison.
"Very well. Soon, we'll stop at the Orthodox Spatial Platform, and you'll be sent into isolation." Tianjin paused, letting the words sink in. "The entire Orthodox world is watching you. So don't let us down."
Soon after, the conversation turned to the same tedious business that Qingyi hated with all his heart.
Numbers, supply routes, positions, who would be responsible for which sector...
He was a man of action, far better suited to killing the enemy with brute force than to sitting around planning, scheming, and drawing up strategies.
Still, he listened to all of it without complaint, his face impassive and his fingers motionless on the table.
